Cast
Afghanwhig as Enosi Danak, Cusimanse as Brandwyn, Dave O as Axil Trevor, percephone as Ludd Ungard, Raganui as Celen Crane, StarWarsJediNinja as Jericho Gallens, Violenceinmind40 as Yastand Marna

Wealsun 1, 591 (6/1)

The slums were in an uproar. One of their own, a young man named Hutch Gralin, had come up missing and the city guard is whitewashing the whole thing. A small band of local boys with adventuring skills was called to the Rusty Scuffer, the slums' most popular inn, and recruited to confront the landlord.

6/2
Disguised as a nobleman and his retinue the party spoke with Lord Samarch. The deception failed. It turns out the abandoned house the group has been living in belonged to Lord Samarch. He's a good landlord. He gets to know his tennents... and his squatters.

Impressed with the groups moxie Samarch hired them on the spot to help him find the missing boy. The boy's disappearance was being treated as a murder. The Sentinels, the city guard, seemed quite certain of his death, although it's unclear why.

6/3
The only physical evidence of the boys death was his tunic, found floating in the river by a fisherman in the docks district. The party decided to investigate the docks.

What they found is that the docks were over-run with thugs. When the party got too close and started asking awkward questions they were attacked.

The fight was brutal, and they were slaughtered in the streets. They fought back, and they fought well, but they were hopelessly outnumbered. Only one of of the young slum dwellers survived the fight.

Session 2:

Cast
Afghanwhig as Enosi Danak, Allyndn_the_Beggar as Bender Rathburn, Cusimanse as Brandwyn, Dave O as Axil Trevor, Mirgalen as Archibald the Menestrel, Raganui as Celen Crane, StarWarsJediNinja as Jericho Gallens, Violenceinmind40 as Yastand Marna

Wealsun 4, 591

Lord Samarch was overwhelmed with guilt. He had not understood the danger he was putting the players in and felt responsible for their deaths.

His hereditary estate in the heart of the Temple District was coveted by many wealthy men. He decided to sell it and pay for their healing.

6/8
The party woke up in the temple of Pelor. Lord Samarch and the high priest were there. Their belongings had been gathered up and Lord Samarch granted them a generous amount of gold and apologized, offering to release them from their duties as retainers. The party declined the offer.

The team decided to report back to the Rusty Scuffer and report to Rand, the elder that had organized the group in the first place.

They found a couple of thugs there, apparently waiting for them, but before they could question them a stranger in the pub, in an attempt to impress one of the female patrons, attacked the thugs. A massive brawl ensued, and Bender, a rogue in the group, accidently knocked Ariella the Barmaids teeth in.

The party fled the bar full of enraged commoners.

6/9-6/10
The party returned to the docks. Poor Bender's reputation preceded him and he was harried by angry citizens all the way.

When they arrived at the Docks they found that it was still under the control of a vicious band of thugs. They were openly attacking the common folk, robbing and beating them in the streets in broad daylight.

The guard came and began to clear the streets. As the chaos subsided an Old Man came out of a nearby shop and went into a very informative rant at the Sentinels and the party.

He raved that this is no mystery. Everyone in the district knows what's going on. The thugs that now rule the docks are a gang led by an outsider named Kaelix. They are smugglers bringing a dangerous narcotic called the Black Lotus into the city. Kaelix, it is said, is a Pomarj Slaver that has set up shop in the docks district on South Street.

As the guards moved in and restored peace to the district, Bender found himself clapped in irons and hauled off to jail for assaulting the barmaid back in the Slums.

Session 3:

Cast
Afghanwhig as Enosi Danak, Dave O as Axil Trevor, Mirgalen as Archibald the Menestrel, Raganui as Celen Crane, StarWarsJediNinja as Jericho Gallens

Wealsun 11, 591
The guard moved into the docks district in force and sealed off South Street, forcing the players to take their investigation elsewhere. Inspired by some excellect leadership by the groups ranger, Celene, and mage, Enosi, the party re-evaluated their strategy. They decided to begin interviewing witnesses.

6/12-6/13
The party split into two groups.

The first went back to the slums district and interviewed the Widow Gralin, the missing boys mother and the Sentinels main suspect.

The other group went to the Old Village Square and interviewed the missing boys employer, Holroth the Merchant. At first Holroth is quite talkative. He boasted of his familiarity with the Sentinels lead investigator (a sergeant with a reputation for bungling by the name of Brobar) and repeatedly suggested that the players speak with him. He seemed neatly convinced of the Widow Gralin's guilt. When the players brought up "lotus" and "slavers" Holroth suddenly became less talkative. He made an excuse and a beeline for the Docks district. Celene tracked Holroth, while the rest of his group moved on to interview Edith, the missing boys girlfriend.

Edith professed her love for the missing boy, and didn't seem to know much about what had happened to him. He said goodnight to her as he always did, then walked back towards the slums. She supposed the he may have stopped at the Rusty Scuffer for a drink as was his habit, but wasn't by any means certain of that. She wanted to help so badly that she offered to sell the players supplies at cost.

Meanwhile... Celene tracked the merchant Holroth to an inn in the docks district called the Rudder Rat. He didn't find him, but he did listen at a locked door and overhear a damning conversation. The occupants of the locked room speak of someone, presumably Holroth, as if he was dead, ominously suggesting that he would still be of use to them. Clearly one of them, a woman, knows more than the other two about what has become of their un-named victim.

The thugs caught Celene leaning against their door but he cleverly played it off like he was just a lost drunk and thus avoided a conflict.

Session 4:

Cast
Allyndn_the_Beggar as Bender Rathburn, Dave O as Axil Trevor, Mirgalen as Archibald the Menestrel, Raganui as Celen Crane

Wealsun 14, 591
After three days in prison Bender was released from jail. It was, after all, an accident, and Bender was not the aggressor. He was fined and let go with a little unexpected help from the Temple of Boccob.

He finds the rest of his group in the docks district trying to decide what to do next.

Their first stop is the Rudder Rat Inn. They pick the lock on the door to the thugs room that Celene had eavesdropped on the day before. This seriously pissed off the three thugs in the room and a fight broke out.

The party then went downstairs to look for witnesses but they found themselves spurned by the pub-goers. One of the docks residents, Old Peete the fishmonger, had been murdered a couple of days earlier and the gathering mob blamed them for it. At first the party was clueless, but as the discussion continued the group realized who Old Peete was: he was the old man who had come out of his shop and raved at the Sentinels as they moved in to seal off South Street (See 6/10). There was no proof, of course, but the message is clear: he had been murdered for speaking with the guard.

6/15
The party tries to return to South Street, but it's still sealed off by the guard, as is the fishmongers shop. They retreated to a nearby alley to decide what to do next. One of the troopers guarding the fishmongers shop followed them and asked for a moment of their time.

This Sentinel's name was Mitchell, and he recognized the party. He was also from the slums, and wanted to help the players find the missing boy. He told them that the officer in charge of the search was an incompetent, but he can't break the chain of command and bring his concerns to his captain. He suggested that the players try.

They decide to take the troopers advice and head over to the City Gate where the main guard tower is located.

On their way through the Old Village Square the party saw that Holroth the merchant, whom the players presumed dead, is back at his stall. They stopped to talk with him. He seemed distant and fatigued. He'd changed. Where he had been "grumpier" (in the words of Brandwyn, the teams cleric) he was now melancholy and uncertain. He was in a haze. Where he had previously cursed the children playing in the marketplace he now waxed distantly about how full of hope and life they were.

6/16
A few of the players stayed behind to keep an eye on Holroth while the rest went to speak to the captain, but they can't get past the Day Sergeant. The Day Sergeant sympathizes with them, but he just can't offer anyone an audience with the Captain of the Watch. Only the gentry has the political pull to speak with a captain.

The party goes to the temple district to find Lord Samarch hoping to use his influence to speak with the Captain, but he has already moved out. A neighbor directs them to the Old East Road where Lord Samarch has bought a new Estate.

6/17
The party leaves the city and goes to Lord Samarchs Estate. They report their findings. Lord Samarch is pleased with their progress and offers them a letter of introduction to get them in to see the Captain of the Watch.

Session 5A

Cast
Allyndn_the_Beggar as Bender Rathburn, Dave O as Axil Trevor, Mirgalen as Archibald the Menestrel, StarWarsJediNinja as Jericho Gallens

Wealsun 18, 591
Archibald, Brandwyn, Bender, and Jerhico, having accepted Lord Samarchs invitation to dinner, spent the night in a real, louse-free bed... with sheets!

In the morning Lord Samarch fed them a lavish breakfast and presented them with a letter of introduction for the Captain of the Watch. He then asks that his house guests consider taking an oath of fealty to his house, and accept positions as his retainers. The oaths take up a better of the day, and they leave his house as his retainers, able to speak with the authority of his office.

6/19
Before dawn the group visited the guard tower and spoke with the Captain of the Watch. The duty seargent balked at admitting them, until the party identified themselves as retainers to the landlord.

The captain interviewed them at great length, and showed an interest in their information uncharacteristic of a buereaocrat bent on covering up Gralin's disapearance. He was even convinced to reassign the case away from the as yet unseen but publicly despised Seargant Brobar.

He stubbornly refused, however, to allow the players to access either the Docks district or the sewers. He had his guards doing a door to door search of the docks district and he had no intention of letting the group interfere with that investigation. As to the sewers: while he was prepared to accept the unlikely possibility of something untoward going on beneath the city he remained unconvinced that it was in any way connected to Hutch Gralins disappearance.

6/20-6/21
Frustrated by the Captain's unwillingness to investigate the leads that to them seemed quite clear the party decided to once again try to find a way to breach the Sentinals barricade in the docks district.

The attempt failed. The entire area was swarming with guards and there was simply no way in or out without literally pushing past an armored soldier, but while they lurked around the perimeter looking for a way in they were approached by a young Guard who hastilly ushered them into a nearby alley.

He identified himself as Irv Woodman. Being from the slum district himself he hastilly thanked the group for getting Brobar reassigned. He told them that he had heard rumors around the barracks that Brobar was supressing a witness. A well known drunkard in the slums district had claimed to have seen the abduction from his window. Brobar, who was known for his preferance to judge rather than investigate, dismissed the claim and left it out of his official report.

The group went to visit the witness, a pensioner and veteran of the Greyhawk Wars named Augus Undt, who had a second floor apartment in Mrs. Milniks Rooming House. At first he refuses to speak with the group, sending them out to fetch him a bottle of spirits. He follows them out into the streets, and as the night wears on into the wee hours of morning, well lubricated with liquor and the promise of a free breakfast at the rusty scuffer, he offers to tell his story...

Session 5B

Cast
Dave O as Axil Trevor, Raganui as Celen Crane

Wealsun 18, 591
While preparing to answer a summons to the estate of Lord Samarch, Axil Trevor was approached in the Rusty Scuffer inn by one of the regulars and a strange hal-elf. Axil had seen the sour faced dwarf, Bognar, around many times before but the half elf, who introduced himself as Carebril, was a stranger.

Human's being what humans are, Bognar and Carebril found themselves relegated to doing some rather dirty tasks. They, like many other demihumans in Rel Mord, were Ratters. That is... they worked for the Rel Mord City Works escorting sewer workers and protecting them from the occasional rat or centipede attack. It is a dirty, dangerous, thankless job.

The ratters had a serious problem. For the last few weeks the sewers had been closed by order of the Sentinals. The sewer workers were still recieving wages, but the Ratters were employed on a "pay per day" basis, and were becoming desperate for work.

Bognar seemed content to wait for the city to reopen the sewers and after introducing Carebril returned to his ale, but the half elf, implying that he represented a large group of ratters, asked for Axil's help trying to figure out why the sewers had been closed. Axil agreed, and Carebril told him what he had discovered so far.

While the official order to close the sewers was issued by the City Guard, it was a poorly kept secret that the extensive crypts beneath the city were also closed, and had been so for a couple of months. It was Carebrils belief that it was the caretakers of the city crypts, the Royal Morticians Society, and not the City Guard who had truly been behind the closure of the sewers. All attempts to penetrate the crypts had proven fruitless, but about a week ago something interesting had happened. The city guard had sealed and was guarding a graveyard outside the city walls. Surely slipping into a graveyard undetected would be easy, and there might be some connection with the closure of the crypts in the city. It was Carebril's intention to climb the walls late at night and look for clues.

6/19
Axil and Carebril slipped over the wall and into the graveyard. At first they found nothing of significant interest. Then they decided to start checking the interiors of the tombs. After examining a few of the tombs interiors something dawned on them... there were no bodies.

Eventually they came across a tomb with a single phantom in it, but she was babbling incoherently about her "missing children". She could neither see nor hear Axil or Carebril clearly, and no meaningful communication was possible.

The pair decided at this point to leave the graveyard and try to find some help. They agree to meet back at the inn nearby the next night, and Axil went back inside the city walls to fetch some back-up.

He found Celene, the ranger, at the rusty scuffer. Celene had also been summoned to Lord Samarchs estate, so they walked there together while Axil told Celene about the Rattters' dilemma and about the graveyard.

Lord Samarch wanted to take them on as retainers, and both men took the oaths (although they abstained from the pomp and circumstance, including the feast). Lord samarch asked them to get rooms at the nearby inn.

They told Lord Samarch about the graveyard, and Lord Samarch summoned his cook to speak with them. She told them that the rumor in the village is that the graveyard was closed because the gravedigger, Aulrac, was attacked by what sounds like zombies.

The pair then went to the nearby inn, called the Ginger Creek Inn, and found Carebril. Carebril had heard similar rumors of zombies in the graveyard.

6/20
The group returned to the graveyard where they began once again to search the tombs. The phantom was gone... but they found a tomb in the Northeast section of the graveyard with a lock that Carebril couldn't pick. He reluctantly used some kind of magic item to force the lock, and the group then entered the tomb.

Things fell apart rather quickly. The tomb clearly deserved investigation. It had a number of active traps, and an impressive rune pillar with some kind of riddles on it. It also held a magical red stone that, unfortunately, seemed to strike Carebril down. He gazed too deeply into the crystal it seemed, and the next thing the party knew he was running around the crypt babbling like an idiot and setting off traps. Finally he ran outside covered in wounds where he was, if not promptly, most decisively captured and arrested by the city guards.

Session 6

Cast
Dave O as Axil Trevor, Mirgalen as Archibald the Menestrel, Raganui as Celen Crane

Wealsun 21, 591

The party returned to the Inn to get Archibold's help. The bard has some skill in picking locks and disarming traps.

6/22
The party returned to the graveyard and re-entered the NE tomb. They solved the riddle on the Rune Pillar, recovered the gold key, and entered the lower levels.

The lower levels are lousy with traps. They find the remains of a thief, felled by a trap in an intersection. All the doors, chests, and chambers are trapped.

The party found a few items of value, but very little of interest. They found four chambers. In one open chamber they found a deep pit. In two others they found crypts with trapped and locked chests. Some gold... some weapons and armor... an unholy book... and of course, a few exceptionally large rats.

The fourth room yeilded a horror far more percieved than real. The robed undead within was actually ridiculously easy to destroy. They found some more gold and a few low level scrolls... and in a writing desk in the corner the found The Diary of Hericule. After leafing through the diary Celene announced that the he believed the miserable robed skelaton was a failed lich.

The party then climbed down into the pit.

The caverns they found below were crawling with skelatons and zombies. In the largest chamber there was a mysterious blue crystal nearly 20 feet tall radiating a magical light from it's top.

The caverns were clearly carved, and many of the openings had been fitted with doors.

One of the smaller chambers looked like a storage room. It was filled with all manner of furinture, beds, tables, and crates full of houswares. At one time it had clearly been of exceptional quality and elegance, but now it was all rotted and worthless.

A phantom made an appearance in the large central chamber... but only for a few moments. Unlike the phantom in the tomb above this one seemed to interact more clearly with the living, but she did not last long. She told the party that they were not the first to "survive the knife", and vanished.

There was another large chamber where a ghoul had apparently whiled away the long hours fashioning himself some crude furniture from human bones.

In the last chamber the party found a massive underground lake. A single skelaton wrapped in rags was found on its shore.

Frustrated but substantilly wealthier, the party emerged from the crypt the next day.

Session 7

Cast
Ashrael Angel as Cormac mac Art, Bodger_ as Nasser Ibn Fadlan al’Saladin, Dave O as Axil Trevor, Piddle as Piddle, Raganui as Celen Crane, Tsukikage as Theobald Knilchensknilch

Wealsun 24-26, 591

Having failed to find any significant leads in the crypt the party turned it's attention to the sewers.

Celene and Axil went to the scuffer to look for their friends, but instead found some eager new recruits.

The next day the party returned to the sewers.

The party was in the sewer for days. The foul smelling ancient maze is over-run with vermin. Huge rats, leeches, giant spiders...

All the while they were watched. Rats appeared to them from time to time. Waiting and watching from a discrete distance. At one point one of the rats even approached the party, joining them for a short time before swimming away through a sewer drain.

After a couple of day in the sewers they found a survivor, a city worker who was trapped in the sewers when they were sealed.

They also found some treasure. In a giant spider lair they found the remains of one of a human victim. Aside from a fine weapon and some gold, he had a brass key.

Exhausted the party returned to the surface.

Session 8

Cast
Ashrael Angel as Cormac mac Art, Bodger_ as Nasser Ibn Fadlan al’Saladin, Dave O as Axil Trevor, Piddle as Piddle, Raganui as Celen Crane

Wealson 27,591
Celene, hoping that stealth would get him safely through the sewers, went back alone to further explore them.

The rest of the party gathered on the surface. They eventually followed, but too late for Celene.

Celene had delved deep into the central sewers.

The rats were gone. While previously the tunnels had been crawling with hungry and highly aggressive giant rats, they were now only rarely spotted at all, and were always giving him a wide berth.

Except for one... a single rat approached the ranger and led him deep into the bowles of the sewer, into a partially flooded sub-level.

Surely the elf must have known that the filthy water must be infested with leeches, and when they attacked he fought valiently, but he succumbed to them trying to escape. His rat guide fought and fell by his side.

6/28
The rest of the party entered the sewer with no idea that one of the parties leaders was dead.

The brass key that they had found in the previous excursion gave them access to the low sewers through a locked door that Piddle had been unable to pick.

While they searched the rats of the sewer once again intervened, fetching them and leading them to Celene's body. A pair of leeches were still attached, as if patience would somehow reward them with a few more drops of fluid out of the palid corpse.

The party retrieved the corpse and emerged on the surface.

6/29
The party returned to the surface with the corpse of their friend. During this time they attract a bit of unwanted attention from a guard investigating an attempted mugging nearby. The victim it turns out, is a Druid from an ancient grove several hours walk outside the city. The normally reclusive druids had sent him in to investigate a disturbance in the balance.

The attending guard was none too pleased when the druid summoned his animal companion. A mighty bear on the quiet late night streets of Rel Mord was a bit more than the poor fellow could bear. The druid relented and banished his companion, and any more muggers who may have been watching and had mistaken the lightly armored man as an easy mark no doubt disappeared into the shadows in search of easier prey.

The group returns to the rusty scuffer to heal and rest.

Session 9

Cast
Ashrael Angel as Cormac mac Art, Dave O as Axil Trevor, Raganui as Celen Crane

Reaping 1, 591
1st day of Richfest

The party brought Celene's corpse back to the Temple of Pelor where he is raised. They spent the day in the temple sanctuary resting, healing, and deciding what to do next.

7/2-7/3
The party returned to the sewer. As they are about to enter a Guardsman approached them. While they do not know him, he seemed to know them. The Sentinel warned them to be careful... that two days before a Sentinel Captain, Captain Abel, and 20 men had been sent down into the sewer. He didn't know why... but it was no secret that they had never returned. He suggested that the party might be able to get some more useful information from Captain Tanrik at the Guard Tower near the city gates.

The party thanked the guard, but decided to enter the sewers rather than lose another day trying to get an audience with the Captain of the Watch.

After only a couple of hours another seemingly tame rat approached them. It led them through the sewers for a couple of hours and returned them to the stairway where Celene's corpse had been found.

It led the party down to the leech infested lower caverns where Celene had been attacked. The party waded through knee deep sewage and fought their way past the leeches. The lower chambers had some other denizens as well. As the party moved through the halls they were beset by a small pack of stirges that they easily defeated.

Finally their guide brought them to a large chamber. As soon as they entered they were beset by Giant rats while a strange, muscular, poorly dressed human watched on seemingly passively.

The party chose to be discrete and spoke with the man, who called himself the "Rat King". He boasted that the rats of the sewer were his subjects and would fight and die at his command, as he had just proven. He told the party that there were humans in the sewer whom he referred to as the "dwellers below". He told them that they were not only responsible for the disappearances on the surface, but also an unacceptable slaughter of his rat subjects as their orc servants considered them not only a fine source of meat, but also good sport. "Kill the dwellers below", he had said, "and I will help you". He told the party where to find the "dwellers below"... in the Low Sewers beneath the Haunted district.

Cormac Mac Art clearly held the foul smelling man in some contempt, and when the Rat King insisted that he be addressed by his proper title the young fighter arrogantly refused. This goaded "His Majesty" into revealing his true identity as he morphed in a were-rat before their eyes.

The hideous creature became even angrier when Celene found a secret door in his "throne room" and made it clear that the party was on the verge of earning the Rat King's mortal enmity.

Again, the party chose discretion. They left and spent a few hours conferring in the chamber above the Were-rats lair. They decided to follow the Rat King's advice, but they seemed to agree that he was not to be trusted.

The party then began searching the Low Sewers. They eventually found a trail of blood leading to a nearby door. Behind it they found three zombies eating a human corpse.

After spending more than a day in the sewers the party was exhausted. They decided to head back up to the surface and rest.

Before going back to the Rusty Scuffer the party returned the corpse they found to the Guard Tower and spoke with Captain Tanrik. Captain Tanrik identifies the Corpse as Captain Able, who had led the group of soldiers into the sewers only a few days earlier.

Captain Tanrik, the Officer of the Watch and Head of the Sentinels, told the party that he had sent the expedition down to the sewers to investigate allegations made in a diary they had found while searching the Docks District the previous week. He gave the players a copy of "Kaelix's Journal" (well... a copy of the important excerpts anyway). This was the journal of a half-orc gang leader in the city who was apparently in league with some kind of kidnapping ring based out of the sewers below.

He then informed the players, clearly frustrated, that he had received orders not to send any more men into the sewers. The party offered to go in and report back their findings to him. The captain agreed, but told the party that his involvement had to be strictly unofficial. He told them to return to the Rusty Scuffer and he would send a "friend" to pay them for the job.

Session 10

Cast: Ashrael Angel as Cormac mac Art, Dave O as Axil Trevor, Mirgalen as Archibald the Menestrel, Miz as Terra Tirisfal, Piddle as Piddle, Raganui as Celen Crane.

Reaping 4-7, CY 591
4th day of Richfest

While waiting for Captain Tanrick's rerpresentitive the party meets Terra, an initiate of Pelor. She agrees to join the group.

Captain Tanrick sends a friend of Axils with a bag of gold and some information. His information was nothing new to Axil who had helped Carebril explore the graveyard, but to the others it was news.

After resting for a day the party returned to the sewers with a new recruit in tow.

The party hacked it's way back through the sewers and found another survivor. This panic stricken sewer worker claimed to have been brought down to the sewers by a wealthy sportsman named Lord Canterain. He and some of his retinue claimed they were entering the sewer to hunt rats for sport and wanted the survivor to act as their guide. The man's greed clouded his better judgement, and he chose to ignore the obvious deception and agreed. Instead of rats they met up with a small army of undead that wiped out his entire group.

Celene took the man to the nearest sewer exit.

The group also found another corpse. This one a rogue.

Then, after 2 days of trudging though the sewers, the party found the way down.

The door was protected by the re-animated remains of the Captain Able's lost patrol... between 15 and 20 skelatons, still wearing scraps of their armor. There were other guards as well, including a (very real) shadow.

The only way through the door was to bash it off it's hinges.

The door led down into a cavern.

Just as the Rat King had told them, the caverns were swarming with orcs. The party quickly found and released a slave, a woman who wasted no time fleeing the sewers.

The party had no trouble with the Orcs. They were clearly caught completely off guard by the attack, but in one room they found a bloody marble table with an undead guarding it.

Axil Trevor was killed by the skelaton warrior.

Without Axil the party wisely decided to leave. They sneaked back out the way they had come.

Reaping 9- Morning and afternoon

The discovery of the slaver's enclave beneath the city throws all of Rel Mord into turmoil. The city has sent an army of sentinals and palace guards into the sewers. The rest are in the streets trying to prevent a riot.

A formal inquiry is convened.

During the proceedings a Sentianl Rushes in with news. The Guards in the sewers are under attack and are calling for reinforcemaents. The inquiry ends suddenly with a call for volunteers.

Reaping 9- Afternoon and Evening

The party rushes back to the slavers enclave in time to push back the orc's last counter-attack. Then they decsend into the lower tunnels with the help of a few royal guards. There is a fierce battle, not with orcs but with well organized, well trained, well equipped soldiers.

The lower tunnels are opulantly appointed, but the defenders are spent and resitance is sporadic. They eventually find a prison cell that Valen... the paladin... smashes open.

The prisoners freed the party, tired and in need of rest, retreats to the surface (except for Andole and Cormac).

When they return they find the dungeon almost deserted. They find Kaelix, who tries to surrender, but Cormac doesn't trust him and attacks. Kaelix defends himself, but falls quickly.

The party also finds and loots the vaults.

They then return to the surface the most famous heroes of the day.

Part 1: Epilog

Reaping 1-4 CY 591

While the party mains are still exploring the sewers, clueless as to the fame and fortune that lies ahead, more trouble is already brewing elsewhere in the city.

It is the first day of Reaping... the begining of the RichFest. All of the Flanaess celebrates the weeklong summer fesitavel, but nowhere in Nyrond is it celebrated as lavishly as it is celebrated in Rel Mord. The royal family throws open the palace gates. All manner of games and vendors... fortune tellers... wagon and pony rides are available to the commonors. Exhibition fights are staged in the palace fountain.

A small group of adventurers has coalesced. They drink. They eat. They play games. They are just having fun when they are approached by a bewildered looking young woman. She seems quite lost. She makes a rather wild claim. She says she is not a woman at all but a chicken, and when the party doesnt believe her she storms off in a huff looking for the queen.

As the party wears on they find a tent that the guards are threatening to pull down. When they go in they find only an odd statue of an old man standing over a very real dust covered desk.

When they leave the tent the city has vanished.

They find themselves standing in a farm full of talking animals. The chickens can talk. The cows can talk. The dog can talk.

The chickens tell them that they have entered some kind of alternate realm. Chickens are not, appaently, all that well versed in alternate universes and such so they can't offer many details. Yheir primary concern would seem to be that the players might eat them. They warn the party that to eat any food from this realm means that they will never escape it.

Reaping 4-8

As more unsuspecting people wander into the strange tent and find themselves trapped in the faerie mound the party explores their new realm.

The first person they meet is a wizard on the brink of death named Maylor. Also from Rel Mord he seems to have entered the mound before them, but rather than entering through the mound entrance he seems to have used some sort of spell. Shortly after arriving, he says, he had a run-in with a rather large green dragon, and he had to expend nearly all his magic to escape with his life. On the up side he managed to hit the dragon with a couple of lightning bolts that will have injured it quite badly and he seems to have driven it out of the immediate area. The party spares what healing they can and bring him back to their base at the farmhouse.

On their way back they come accross a small cottage in the woods where they meet a wolf who introduces himself as thistle. Thistle explains to the party that all the creatures of the realm were once people, and that the queen turns them into animals after they enter. Wolves are traditionally the Queen's guard but after overhearing some off the queens secrets he ran away and became a fugitive. He does not know who he was or how long ago he got here, but he was enraged to learn that he was once a man who now lived as a beast to serve whims of a tyrant. He quite willingly offers to help the party escape the Queens realm.

Once back at the farmhouse the party gives maylor some food that he can rest and escape. This is a generous offer considering that the only food the party has are a few candied apples and a couple of bags of nuts, but it's their best hope of escape. Maylor leaves some equipment for them, including a VERY expensive and powerful staff, and casts the spell to return him to the real world.

Once he leaves the party continues searching the area.

They find a cave that they suspect of being the dragon's lair, but if it is it's one seriosly poor dragon. They find a few gold coins and a couple of rusted out weapons.

They also find a scenic pond full of fish fed by streams. They follow the water downstream to a large river. Along the way the find an odd headstone labled only "Truth".

The woods seems to be home to a number of foul tempered badgers, and they find a very small goblin camp to the south, but other than that they find little resistance.

They soon find some strange fey creatures, nixies, hovering about a log, but they offer no usefull information. They seem far more concerned with deciding who was going to get to keep the intruders.

They also find a strange old woman staring at a stopped grandfather clock in the middle of a field, but she has nothing (useful) to say either.

Then finally they enter a cave and find a massive ogre who, to their surprise, makes no move to kill them. In fact... he seems quite happy to see them.

The Ogre's name is Margwhar, and unlike the other beasts of the realm he remembers his human past. He happily tells them his story.

"He tells it every day, anyway," he tells the party, "so that he does not forget."

Uncounted years ago he stumbled into the realm with a bucket of live fish. His transition into the realm was less than graceful, and he fell into a stream. Most of his fish escaped into the pond in Smaul's Glade. He ran into a beautiful dryad (Yyolwim) who took a liking to him and, prefering to keep his company to herself, warned him not to eat the food or drink the water of the realm as she knew if he did she would lose him to the queen. They lived together happily for many years, but when the queen found out she was enraged. She sent her wolves to bring Mahrgwhar back to her. When they did as she bade however, Mahrgwhar refused to cooperate. She tried trickery, coersion, and in the end, after she had grown angry and twisted, even torture, but Mahrgwhar would not eat or drink willingly of her table. After a time the queen grew bored of her petty tortures and threw him into prison where he sat forgotten for a century. Yyolwim eventually won his freedom in a bet with the "queens vessel", but the handmaiden is not a graceful loser. She returned Mahrgwhar, but not before transforming him into the most hideous form she could imagine. To the "queens" disbelief her treachery failed, and the lovers returned happily to Yyowims tree. Outraged the queen martialed all her forces, an army of goblins and wolves, to kill Mahrgwhar. They failed, and Markos fought. He escaped badly wounded. Mahrgwhar should have died, for while mortals do not need food to sustain themselves in the realm, they DO need it to heal. But he knew a secret. The fish he had first entered the realm with a half a century before had been breeding in the ponds and rivers. They can be safely eaten! For centuries he has held this form and evaded the queens army of wolves and goblins by staying in the fringes of the realm. His new mouth is unable to pronounce his real name so it has evolved into Mahrgwhar. Mahrgwar, for his fierceom appearance, is perhaps the most important friend any of the players has ever had. He shelters them and teaches them to fish.

session 2-03

Cast: Dave O as Ra’ul Darkhelm, fredmatos as James Lorentz, GM_Scorch as Scorch, karvon as Welliem, Mirgalen as Archibald the Menestrel, Piddle as Piddle, Raganui as Celen Crane

Goodmonth 5

Back in Rel Mord weeks pass and the party mains are heralded as heroes.

Then one day while shopping in the Old Village Square Ra'Ul is approached by a young boy who insists that Ra'Ul get his "crew" together and come see his boss, "buss Hulbie" about a job.

Meanwhile... reports of gang activity in the haunted district have reached the city guard. The City Guard refuses to investigate, fearing the phantoms that prowl the district.

Finally the palace steward orders the palace guard to look into it.

The order falls to the officer of the Watch, Lt. Horace Greely. Greely is no fool. He and his men are not trained for investigations. He knows full well that whomever goes out will fail, and will fail badly. Instead of senfding out one of his own men, He sands out a Sgt Williem Aset under the command of a New Officer (Cormac Mac Art). The poor young man has a dreadful time, although he does manage to make contact with Mulu, one of the Boss's officers, the boy doesn't tell him anything usefull.

When Cormac finds out he tries to help the young man by fetching his friend Celen Crane, the Kings Forrester, to help him.

It takes a while to find "Boss Hulbie". He is the head of "the Urchin's Guild". Having nowhere else to go Rel Mord's disenfranchised children now live in the Haunted District.

Boss Hulbie turns out to be a young teenaged boy. He tells the players that until a few weeks ago his gang was un-noticed because they did not need to steal to live. They were taken care of by a powerful local wizard named Maylor Aers. A few weeks ago, however, Maylor disappeared, and he wants the players to go look for him. In exchange he offers the players the services of the guild. After all, very little goes on in Rel Mord that the Boss doesn't hear about.

When the players accept he gives them a key to the wizards tower.

The players find the tower long deserted and stinking of death. There is a great deal of treasure laying about in the form of books and scrolls. There are also a few Mephits loose. Several apprentices are found dead, but there is no sign of the master of the tower. There are clearly lower levels, but the door is guarded by a stone golem that will not permit anyone to pass who does not speak a password.

Session 2-04

Goodmonth 1-7

For weeks the party has survived in the mound with the help of some unusual friends. Margwhar, who was transformed into an Ogre by the spiteful queen of the mound has taught them to get untained food and Thistle, an angry wolf determined to rediscover his past life, watches over them and protects them.

Things seem almost idyllic until some strangers wash ashore.

A friend of Mahrgwhar's, a feisty pixie named Cherry Petal, brings the news. She has seen two strangers by the river, but when the party goes to investigate all they find are the tattered remains of their makeshift raft.

Cherry petal tells them that goblins are downstream tracking the strangers, and that they will soon be in the area. The party finds them first, and they return to Margwhars cave to decide what to do next.

They decide to confront the goblins, and win... but they take a terrible beating. The druid, Peren, is killed.

They capture a raft and decide to try to use it to find their own way out.

They travel for two days before reaching Oak and Dazzel's village.

The Village of the Lost is a strange place, almost dreamlike. The people talk about years as if they were weeks, and madness hangs thick in the air. Almost as soon as they step ashore the party meets an insane halfling named Fizzwhistle who attaches himself to them.

They also meet the Mayor. A strange fellow, the Mayor, Pebble, and his wife, Butterfly, were appointed by the Queen centuries ago. They welcome the players with open arms, and discourage their attempts to leave.

Ashram has a rather nasty run in with the town Marshall, Big Barrel, who beats him half to death and leaves him bleeding in the street.
