After reading the scroll three times in a day, Mei put on his worn boots and headed down the coastal road towards Mosstone.
Danged if he was going to give up with out gaining the noteriety due to him. He might be short, but when word got out that he had saved an entire island, boy, then the important men would take note of Mei. Even if he had to tell them about his exploits himself, they would know his name.
And then he would be rich.
He smiled to himself as he walked, hardly noticing the countryside, in his own 'little' world.

Darius squinted as he looked at the skyline ahead, the sun was fading and he would have to make camp soon. He reached into the pouch at his waist and pulled out a piece of dried meat and, gnawing away at his meager rations, felt the letter tucked into his tunic. It was still there. Hard to believe really, after running away from the school hie father (for some reason he always thought of that word with contempt, even though he know his father had never actually done anything to deserve it)had enrolled him in, he had thought that life was finally going to start going his way.

He laid out his bedroll under some bushes as his thoughts wandered through his recent excursions, it wasn't as if he had failed anyone in a quest, if that had been the case he would gladly return to his training, as long as he was still alive anyhow. It was the fact that he had been unable to find a soul interested in his help aside from farmers that needed plowing done, or merchants wanting someone to do the heavy lifting, and that was not the sort of adventure he had in mind.

Then, right as he had lost hope of ever finding a suitable adventure, it happened. He still was unsure about all the events surrounding it, but somehow this plea for help had reach him, exactly the thing he had spent all this time looking for! However, despite his good fortune, something didn't sit well with him. He pulled the parchment out and read it again. The elated feeling returned, but his wariness was also heightened. "Oh well..." he muttered to himself, "I'm sure it's nothing a good night's sleep won't be able to fix...if I can get one." And with that, he wormed his way down into his bedroll, trying to find a comfortable position among the roots of the bushes.

Mei is a short human. He has lived his life always being handled differently due to his diminuative stature. He longs to be treated as an equal. Oh, yeah, he also longs to have friends. He has an attitude that can be quite coarse at times.
He has survived 'til now by using his skills of recollection to tell stories of valor and courage from the past. He even tries his hand at singing these same stories to earn gold, drinks, or even room and board. He's actually gotten quite a bit better at handling his outbursts, at least when he's performing.
His previous adventuring experience ended with him telling a barbarian to "shut up and let the intelligent people do the talking". Mei escaped with his life, but not without a knot on his noggin. He left in the night, even though cooler heads prevailed and stopped the 'caveman' from venting his anger on Mei's unconscious body.
Mei vows to try and keep his big mouth shut when dealing with barbarians forever more.

"EEEEHHH REEEEE!"

A shadow of a winged creature covers the face of the elf, who is staring off into space.

"EEEEHHH REEEEE? Eehree! Aaaari? Ari!"

A wrinkled scroll flutters onto the gold elf's face, which finally snaps her out of her trance. She slowly sits up and pats her dirty hair, now messy with dirt and leaves - it tends to happen when you're laying under a tree.

"Ari, look what I found!" the mephit yells right in front of her, as it picks up the scroll again and waves it in front of her face.

Arinia doesn't exactly like people yelling at her face when she's trying to trance, let alone imp-like creatures. She swipes the scroll from Mer's hands with a groggy groan and lays her eyes on the weathered text. It says something about... a place that needs help? Aldera? Monsters? No wonder Mer brought this to her.

Things haven't been going well for Arinia after she got expelled from the Evermeet School of Advanced Wizardry. She has... potential? If it can be called that. But hasn't been able to apply her talents... at least that's what she says. This scroll was questionable to her - but to Mer, it was a golden oppurtunity!

She lays back down with a plop and attempts to go back to her trance. Key word there being "attempts".

"Aaaariii? Ari, did you read it? Did you read it Ari? You didn't read it!"

The familiar grabs the abandoned scroll from Arinia's hand and latches onto her hair, pulling it. The action is met with a slap on Mer's head, and he tumbles onto the ground.

"Oooowww..."

Curunor sits in a smoke filled bar, keeping to himself in his usual corner. He pulls a small pouch and a scroll case from the folds of his baggy clothing. The pops the small case open and pulls the scroll out, and scans the page quickly. Aldera? Huh...never heard of it. Poor sod must've wanted out of this town bad. He chuckles at the thought. Though I'm bored of this muck-hole myself. Guess I could try my luck out there.

Around ten minutes prior to his arrival in the tavern, he had been stopped by a would-be mugger. After being asked to relinquish his belongings, Curunor drew his pair of maces and beat his attacker senseless. He scooped up the man's belongings, spoils of battle, of course, and walked off to the nearest watering hole.

A young druid with a hawk on his shoulder as he stalks towards the town of Mosstone. A well worn shafted spear digs into the dirt each step, used as a walking staff. The hawk lets out a small scream as she launches into the air, intent on finding some food before they enter the busy streets. The druid just smiles, thinking back to what brought him here.

Peran Hawkwing, freshly 'graduated' from his training under an old hermit druid, who now spent more time in the form of an old owl instead of a dwarf, had thought that he might help the world by adventuring. Unfortunately there was nothing for one of no experience. He kept trying, but alone he could not even deal with the basic threat of goblins.

It was years later, still not having much experience in any real adventuring, that he found the parchment. He believed it was the will of nature that was guiding him. And now, here he was.

He kneels, examining the red creature. "I wish to borrow a knife, if I may." Upon acquiring the bladed utensil, the druid would begin to dissect the creature, marking down in his journal the details of it's biology. Any poison sacs he would carefully remove, asking for any container he could carry the poison in, for further study. If the creature had scales, he would begin plucking them, writing down the details of it and making a rough drawing, trying to discover if it could be used to make any decent type of armor.

Once finished, he would dump the body over, nodding to himself. "Interesting. Very interesting."

Now this wasn't exactly the start to the adventure Darius had pictured in his head. Not only was their employer dead, but he had had surprisingly little information about the situation that they were getting themselves into. Those red creatures had been dangerous, luckily he himself had managed to avoid getting injured, but he felt a slight twinge of guilt at the paladin's death. Darius had left the creature that managed to poison him in order to assist the druid, assuming the paladin could take care of himself, and felt it was his withdrawl that created the opening that led to his employer's demise. After scanning the sky one last time, and asking the sailors to alert him should anything happen before they reach land, Darius made his way back into the cabin of the ship to offer his condolences to the dead man's squire, and also to see if he can find out any more information about the situation they are sailing into.
