Ash'en did not like Alorian. Especially the fact that all he could do was preach at them. His whole life had been with the Jedi and their religion, anything he had to say would be swayed by his total commitment to the light side. Why, even Luke had a life before he became a Jedi. Ash'en wondered if that was why Luke had sent Alorian with them, to brainwash them into believing that the light side was the only way.

On a different note, she was becoming more familar with the flight operations of the ship. She actually liked being on the bridge, it gave her a since of control, and she was always happy when she was in control. In fact the only time she was not in control was when she was in bed with Cobry, and that did not seem to bother her. He had a strength about him that made her feel safe. It was that strength that had drawn her to him in the first place. With him could she be herself and not have to follow, she stood beside him, not in his shadow, not behind, but beside as an equal.

She wondered why Luke had really sent them to Korriban. It was suppost to be a dead planet, no one had been there in years, or at least not since Palpatine had been emperor. The rumor had always been that there were never more than two sith at a time, the master and the apprentice. Anyway here they were, pretty much wasting their time, looking to see if any sith existed here. If nothing else, she might be able to gleen some information about the dark side and how it really worked.

Cobry kept stride away from the others, usually only revealing himself to bandage up Ash'en, as he never actually got hit. It made him feel... powerful, invulnerable, immune. And he loved that, almost as much as he enjoyed ambushing someone. If they were foolish enough to fall for his tricks, they probably had it coming to begin with. Very rarely, he'd reveal himself, only long staying long enough reveal any enemy positions. Despite his ease of stealth, he really had no skills beyond reconnoitering, and fighting.

One of the things he noticed, particularly with Ash'en and her problems, was no one really went out of their way to correct him like they did her. He was free to be rude, callous, make sexual jokes, be underhanded, what ever he wanted practically as long as he didn't bring any attention to his own reservations about the dark and light sides of the force, or openly debate them. It was like his ma and smuggling: the end ultimately justified the means, and if there was food on the table by the end of the day, who cared about how you got it there?

Ash'en was awed by the crystal. It drew her to it, she had to touch it, fell its power, understand its purpose. As her hand touched the crystal, she felt the power burst into her body, and she knew she had been changed somehow. She knew at once she had a new ability, one which would draw the life from others, it made her feel tingly, almost giddy. She would not tell the others, for she knew they would not understand.

When Alorian, touched the crystal it tranported them to another place. More of the ghostly sith came to attack them, but they prevailed. Another crystal gave them an insight into how a clone of Darth Vader came to exist, many things were coming to light. Yet another crystal showed them a picture of what was happening now, Vaes was once again taking someones choices away, the conversation sounded all too familar to Ash. Someone Vaes called Faelara, was rebelling and Vaes was holdeing her back.

While Ash knew she would never kill anyone for pushing thier oppinions on her, she understood how someone else might. She still thought the dark side could be tamed, it help greater power, and that would make helping much easier. She, Ash'en, would know the dark side.

Master Vaes was dead -- and for what? She was a good person and a kind soul; she deserved a long, healthy life. Lightside, darkside, it didn't seem to make sense anymore. Was it worth dying for, this war between two sides of the same coin? Luos didn't know what to think, say or feel. Could he even go on being a jedi?

He followed Ash'en and Cobry as they went forward, and would continue to follow them. A soldier stands by his comrades. They were all he really had.

The other man was a devotee and strongly devoted to the Light side of the force. He held commitment and a blindless one of his masters and the order. To a point, such loyalty was commendable, but also quite foolish. The other was Ash'en. He appreciated the woman's company, no doubt. But she also had foolishness in her. Not because of her curiousity of the dark side, or necessarily her temper. It was how completely her temper and emotions consumed her, whether they were of lust or rage, or anything in between. Still between the two of them, Cobry would side with Ash'en - it was better to be hotheaded than ignorant. And he shared her curiousity.

And much like her, he didn't want to choose any side, necessarily, but his own, whether it was dark, light, or possibly some kind of grey. Where ever profit was to be had,

Alorian felt the truth of the vision in the core of his being. Vaes was dead as well of some of his friends. They were probably lucky that they weren't at the temple or else they would probably be dead also. His emotions roiled below the surface. He wanted to lash out at Ash'en for being so careless with the Dark Side. She was a fool and she would soon learn how truly corrupting the Dark Side could be. And then he would be forced to kill her. It was sad, but it was inevitable.

He stopped for a moment to regain his composure. Anger was a path the the Dark Side and while he may have good cause to be angry, expressing it and acting upon it would change nothing. It would fix nothing. It was not their fault Vaes was dead. They were just to naive to realize that self empowerment was the first steps in the long fall toward oblivion.

i too am running a bit late. i should have the server up by 8pm EDT. I will post both here and at the NWC Game page.

Ash'en was confused when she discovered that Vaes was really dead. She had thought the vision was .. well, just a vision, that it had not really happened. Now, Luke was sending them on a mission to retrieve the dna, so no further clones could be made of Vader.

It wasn't enough that she had had to learn how to use a light saber, now they wanted her to become a fighter pilot. Fat chance, the only flying she had ever done was in a fully automated ship. She had just started to learn the systems on the Bloody Claw, but that didn't mean she was ready to fly it.

On top of all this she thought of her relationship with Cobry. Alorian had said that relationships were forbidden by the Jedi, but how could that be? Luke would not even be alive if it had not been for love. She was beginning to think the Jedi, had two sets of rules, or better still that they made them up as they went along. If something did not agree with what they wanted they just told you it was forbidden. How convenient.

The dark side was beginning to look better and better.

Alorian did not look forward to the coming space battle. He was a fair pilot as most Jedi were, but it was not where his expertise lay. He much more preferred to have both feet planted on solid ground. He could tell that they were close to something big. A significant nexus of the Dark Side was focused upon this system and they were being thrown into it. He didn't like it. He would much rather have Vaes here with him than these raw recruits. He could tell that they were slipping... especially Ash. He couldn't help but wonder how she had gotten so mixed up about the Jedi and the nature of the Light Side. How could she be so blind to the evil that it represented?

He could only shake his head and try to bury his emotion. He had to focus on the task at hand. It would not serve him to be distracted by Ash. He would deal with her soon enough.
