The Dragon's Village 2017
Moderator:Lazybones
They had met the Spirit of the Dragon, and Tianlong had to admit he was impressed. He had the bearing and presence of a great lord, and his devotion to duty surpassed even his death. Perhaps if all humans were so selfless there would be fewer troubles in the world.
He looked forward greatly to travelling to the city. His hosts in Dragon village had been very accomodating, but it was a small place, and seemed to have yeilded as much adventure and interest as it possibly could.

"Taizou," said Wen, shaking his head in amazement, animated and energetic once they had filed out of Lady Jiang's home. "I had never thought... what a blessing! To travel to a city! To speak to a magistrate, even the governor... to help carry the Dragon's message, save the Empire!" he spread his arms out wide.
"Just think," he went on. "Think of who we could meet there. A great swordmaster that I could impress for lessons... new masters of the Four Ways for you to test yourself against, Tian. Perhaps someone who can understand the way the spirits speak to you, Ning, or who can understand Moriko... at all. Surely there would be wisemen to answer any question, Tenko. Even a rich patron who would offer much money for short work with little obligation, Gojiro! We could find a new ox-plough for Old Tien to replace the one that snapped... a better spinning wheel for Mao Jiawen... maybe even a wealthy, worthy man who might visit and marry Xiu-Ying. We should write a list!"
“And you, Traveller Davis, you will get to see the best of our people. I am sure of it! A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step, so says the Wise Man of Water,” Wen chatted excitedly. "But never have I taken such a step as this!"

Moriko watches Wen carefully, seemingly hanging on every word. Her face mimicking and reflecting the emotion he displays and looking from one person to the other or back at the village as he speaks their names, or in the case of herself giving a small cheer. When he gets to the end of the description she looks thoughtful for a moment, looks down and nods as Master grunts, then says four small words.
"What is a city?"
Edit: ".... or who can understand Moriko... at all." Don't bet on it.

While the others prepared for the journey ahead, Ning secluded herself in a hollow somewhere along the river. She meditated, and communed with the spirits. A time like this, they were not likely to leave her be no matter where she laid down her head, and so it was easier and less frustrating to seek them out directly.
They told her to follow. To see where the path leads. To change, and to be changed.
She never wanted to change. But then, she already had. It was too late for her to turn back now.

OUT OF THE DRAGON VILLAGE
The Dragons who perhaps should now be called the "Travelling Dragons" or the "Errant Dragons" left the village to travel to "the big city" to alert the Daimyo or other authorities of the danger that the realm was facing.
Before leaving, Tenko managed to retrieve his hidden equipment. Not all was there however, his precious climbing shoes were gone. He had long discarded his ninja-to, throwing it into the river, a typical gesture of defiance to severe the link with his previous clan. Other items were also missing like climbing rope, small bamboo pipe to breath under water... Tenko had learned to survive without these, yet the few items he got back may come handy at some point. Besides, with enough silver or gold he was confident that he could find new or even better equipment.
On the way, the team faced some bakemonos, an angry mizu kami who turned into a fat dragon, not the typical long and slim snake like dragon flying in the sky as well as a patch of nasty vines. They were also some soldiers made of clay or other material. Who knows what all these were doing on or near the road.
The group made it to the city without too many problems.

Enroute to the provincial capitol, the group had a few minor encounters, the strangest being a solitary clay golem. Gojiro wondered why such a thing would be wandering the countryside far from any master or creator. Anyhow, they reached the town and turned over the various papers and taxes to the governor without any reward to speak of. There were more merchants and merchandise than in the village, but he didn't have enough gold to really buy anything at this point, so all he could do was look around and take in all the new sights. Perhaps here they could find some real paying commissions.
