Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #2

"That's right. That's right! The little -" Polytropos thumped a fist into his palm. "It never told us what we would be wagering, did it? And we never asked! It's going to be bad, I can feel it. He'd have told us otherwise! Andreas, just win, yeah, Else we're going to be up the Styx without a pair of coins before you can say Sisyphus..."
He grumbled for a few moments. "Anyway, uh - Kataramene? Didn't she say she was going to cover the rear or something...? Not that it needed covering, it's a good rear."

I second the motion of going home, washing up and drinking our fill of wine before restocking and heading out again - especially, if we're not supposed to eat or drink anything in that place.

Leonaidas wasn't very happy; part ownership in an estate wasn't his idea of excitement, or any short term profit. He certainly wasn't going to pour any of his share of gains into the place. He had no interest in becoming a landowner; that only meant getting tied down. The others seemed pretty pleased by it though and talked in small groups of their plans for the future.

Another fight and another victory for Andreas.
The plan had been to go back home and prepare before venturing in the fey realm. That was not to be. Soon, probably to soon, the portal was opened and there was little time to proceed forward and return to avoid being stuck forever on the other side.
The place was pleasant looking with grass and trees all around. As they proceeded forward the heroes were attacked by magical creatures but they defeated them with relative ease.
There was still plenty of time left when they found the ogre. A massive creature who seemed intrigued by their presence.
He agreed to fight Andreas confident that no mortal could defeat him in a duel. Before the fight they both had a drink of vintage wine and as the ogre signaled that he was ready Andreas started to punch him over and over while avoiding the attacks of the imposing creature. It seemed like the ogre was holding back for some reason and he eventually fell to the ground.
Andreas had won, the Gods were with him and his hardened like a well polished rock had protected him long enough to win the fight...

Did the ogre fight back?

"So, this land," Polytropos began. "Problematic. We all like the idea of having little villages around to farm the place and make us rich. We'd be landowners. Actual citizens. We could vote! How about that? Buuut Leo would prefer the money, aaand we can't do much without his say-so because by all rights, he has a seventh say in what happens to this place. He wants money, but while we've got enough to get started with the land, w probably don't have enough to buy him out."
"sooooo..." the young fighter went on. "Huh. Leo, can we figure out, say, a price? Then we could put aside some of the money we get and give it to you until that price'd been reached. Aaaand then we'd have bought you out. You'd have your money in time, and we get our villages. How's that? It'd be like you rented it to us!"

Telemachus rolled his eyes "If you've really no interest in becoming a rich man or planning for your future that's your business Leo. I suppose we could offer you one seventh of what our shifty councilman friend offered us for your portion." He turned to the others. "I think we should really consider getting a gladiator stables running quickly, it's something we know how to do, and will bear fruit sooner than a harvest."
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #2
Kataramene followed the conversation and then shrugged. "I suggest we portion off one 7th of the land, on the edge somewhere," she looked at Leo, "and then you can do with it whatever you want. Maybe you can sell it, if not then we do as Pol suggests. But I'm not paying what the Egyptian offered because we would never have been allowed to conclude that deal anyway without trouble, even if all of us - and it would have to be all of us wanted to be unpatriotic enough to sell to them."
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #2
"I suppose we will have to arrange something along those lines," Eleni said, sighing. "Perhaps we can ask our councillor friend what a reasonable price for a seventh of the land would be."
"Regardless, I don't know about the gladiator school. Perhaps we - well, some among us other than myself - would be well-suited to such work, but we will likely not be able to keep a regular training schedule. Students would not be able to benefit from our expertise if we are not actually around half the time..."
