Lenoiadas found a spot a bit out of the wind and sat down. He pulled out his harp and strummed for a bit as he relaxed. In the distance he could see the others making their way back up the road from where the merchant was camped. He could barely recognize most of them as they were decked out like hopolites with armor, helms and large shields. He'd traded for some simple leather and a small buckler himself, which he hoped would protect him a bit more when he skirmished with his sling. He wondered how much good such would do against these demons coming up from the valley of the shrine.

"You know," Eleni said, halfway between counting her recently-acquired pile of shiny drachmas. "I did some research, before we left the village. About the... you know, the demon place we, ah, visited. Stumbled into. Invaded. However you want to put. One of the carvings there seemed familiar, and I'm pretty sure I've managed to identify it - it was one of the Keres, the daughters of Nyx. Very definitely one of her less pleasant children, not that she has many you'd be delighted to introduce to your parents. Misery and sadness and death and endless night and all that."

The sorceress paused her coin-counting for a moment, frowning.

"They say that Nyx and at least some of children reside in Tartarus. The under-underworld. I'm not sure if that's where we ended up, but it's the best guess I have so far. And maybe these demons are from the same neighbourhood, if so..."

She shrugged, and continued taking inventory. "Just keeping everyone informed. Oh, and does anyone else need something purchased? I think another winning smile should get me a very nice price on his last shield"

((Possibly useful side note: I stumbled across a pretty nice map of mythical greece. Not necessarily representative of whatever LB's got in mind, of course, but it should be a good reference for where, say, Argos, Corinth and Sparta are supposed to be in relation to each other, which I remember causing some confusion last week.))

"How wa..." Polytropos blinked, his mind needing a few seconds to catch up with the rest of him while Kataramene explained.

"... oh. Er... It felt good," he admitted. I didn't feel like I'd beaten anyone yet, but I felt stronger. Like I could beat someone. Like I could take on the world. Fight who I wanted, do what I wanted, take anything I wanted and no-one could stop me."

He looked down at the new armour. Leather, but it looked good. They all looked damn good. They'd need it; every scrap of style and toughness against another gaggle of fiends from the underworld...

"Like I was invincible." He nodded.

The heroes had left the Spartans and were back in the forest. They were around a campsite at a crossroad, some standing other sitting. Some wanted to go to Argos others wanted to stop by a forge nearby. For Andreas it did not really matter as long as there was some adventure it was fine.
While fighting various creatures in the wild he had noticed that using a staff as a weapon was sometimes more effective than his wrestling tactics, something he would have to remember.

"Which way then?"

Damien sat on the ground laying on Aias' side. "I still say we press on towards the forge. Whatever problems are assailing Argos will have to do without us until we get more effective weaponry. We can't fight demons if half of our attacks just bounce off of their hides."

"I have no objections," Katamarene replied, stretching long legs out after rising and releasing her sword from it's sheath. "Regardless of the possibility of improved weaponry I'm curious as to what we will find there, and it's possible once we get to Argos we won't be able to pursue our own direction."

She took a few practice swings, shifting the shield and sword through a series of defensive and attacking moves and appearing to practice posing herself in a manner designed to impress. The young woman looked off in the direction of the Forge, and spoke with the determination of someone who anticipates a fight. "When we get to Argos we will need to have proven ourselves worthy of note if we are not to end up dismissed as ... " she paused "... inexperienced."

OOC:

There's a slim possibility that I may not be able to make it tomorrow. We have company, but I'll see if I can slip away from the game. Our company is mainly here for my wife's uncle and step-father, but I don't like being rude. ;)
