Alright, I will concede that visiting the burial island was a good idea, these northern raiders are clearly a danger. I imagine we'll be seeing more of them in the future.

Back in the inn the group discussed what to do next. There was a bit of an argument going on between the knights and some of the others.
For the knights it was clear that taking possession belonging to others was a punishable crime. Thievery if not evil was certainly a chaotic act ignoring civilized rules related to possessions. It did not matter if those deprived of their items or properties were alive, dead or in some unusual case undead.

The only exception to that general rule was related to the spoils of battles. By common law it was usually permitted to take part or all the possessions of defeated enemies. Looting bodies was certainly frowned upon among knights but was nevertheless a common practice.

The day went fairly well for those in favor of visiting the cursed pirate island. The place was haunted by several evil hostiles undead. In fact, all the dead from the crypt had risen and had to be put to rest. As a result, all treasures left in the crypt were available to the victors since they were clearly the belongings of defeated enemies.

Pius retrieved a broad sword after putting down an undead pirate. Yet he wondered if it was possible to lift the island curse and if so how it could be done. Perhaps a high priest would know the answer to that question...

Nihmri brought with her an unusual souvenir from the island of the dead. Unlike some of her fellow acolytes, she had not found any mighty weapons or ancient artifacts that were particularly to her liking, and had instead made do with a humble finger bone. It was not entirely clear when she had acquired the thing, but she appeared to be quite fond of it, feeling it in her hands with a thoughtful expression on her face.

When they got back to the ship, she found herself a place on the floor and busied herself with a few private rituals while the others rested. At some point, a deck of cards materialized in her hands; delicate woodcuts covered in colorful imagery from distant lands. She felt the cards more than she looked at them, pausing occasionally to weigh the finger bone in her hands.

She frowned as the deck revealed a woman wreathed in mists, looking towards an unseen vision in the distance. Her fingers moved across surface of the card for a while, and then she turned her head to look at her companions, clearly considering something. But she eventually shook her head, and said nothing.

"Can I say 'told you so'?" Shanni said cheerfully, looking at the island as it receded from view. "I'm pretty sure I can, so .... Told you so!" She turned around, and leant back on the railing, the sea breeze whipping her long blonde hair around. "A den of evil sacrifice is no more, and some of you have nice new things to help us against that mad shadow animal man and his friends, so double the gain."

"Admittedly we could probably have spent a little less time at the door with 'fools' written on it, but nothing ventured, nothing gained." She shrugged and grinned a little sheepishly. "Could have been a blind to throw us off, and none of our patrons can say we're not persistent. But luck was with us an no one was terminally injured by it, and I think we even learned to jump a bit faster and a bit further?" The grin became infectiously cheery again. "These are lessons we need to learn, no? We walk away better able to serve!"

In the shadow under a pile of tarps, Suula sat, and watched the other clerics, licking the salt from her lips. Disdaining the exhuberance of her sister and the congratulatory back-slapping of the warriors. All she did was sit by herself... and contemplate a coin from her purse, balanced between her fingers. With a simple flick, it would move across her hand, and she watched it travel end over end.

"Not this time. Or the time before that." She took a breath, flicking out her arm and managing to catch the coin in her fist. "But there's always next time. Next... choice?"

Beside her, the Orb of Fates glowed softly, and did not answer.

"Now the concern has to be whether this delay has effected the town. We've been away for just over two days now, and the animal attacks were increasing. Hopefully they've been able to hold out.
Regardless, we should make sure we are all well rested by the time we arrive, we are unlikely to have much time to waste."
