"This place is certainly large, and luxurious..." Wen mused. "I can only imagine what the fort of stone is like beyond the door. "Have any of you an idea what we might do, while we wait for the Lord Wu to return? Things... we could each do, perhaps?" Wen's focus drifted a little in thought. "The... the work of the smith looked fascinating. If... expensive..."

Moriko continued to look uncomfortable, sitting as near as possible to the door and looking around her with the air of a lost child. The cat had long scarpered so she hugged her stick watching the comings and goings of the myriad of people. Spying a small spider running across the floor she set down her hand and let it run onto her fingers where it sat seemingly content while she raised it to her face and tilted her head.

"This is not a cave," she said to the spider, then regarded the spider for a few moments with interest then added. "A dry cave with light and no birds or bats." Her inspection continued a few moments before she nodded, then placed the spider carefully by a crack in the wood of the floor, through which it descended.

Once done she watched the hole for a while longer then looked at the others and asked in a somewhat plaintive voice. "Can we go now?"

Ning sipped her tea; shifted on her pillow. She sighed at Moriko's obvious discomfort.

"You're free to spend the night elsewhere if you prefer," she said, with as much patience as she could muster. "No one is keeping you here. But I think I speak for the majority of us when I say that I would prefer to stay."

She turned to Wen; nodded. "Everything is... certainly more expensive than in the village. Even just food and lodgings. We don't know how long we will be here, so I suppose we should make sure we do not starve. Perhaps the lord's adviser will contact us about the clay guardian, but... we should probably ask around about things regardless."

The town was much larger and more interesting, after so long in dragon village. Tianlong perused some of the wares they could not yet afford and contemplated what they would say to the Lord, when he eventually returned. The seneschal had seemed more like a typical effete bureaucrat, and not one to be trusted with the more dire warnings they brought with them. The Lord would have to be convinced that dangerous things were afoot.

//I'd have to leave halfway through todays session, probably more polite to miss it entirely? Want to minimize disruption.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it - have to work. Apologies for short notice - not how I'd expected to spend morning. Guess Davis came down with a bug and is trying to sleep it off at the inn.

Tianlong can opt out at midpoint, when the group starts a quest.

The group was hired by a local merchant to restore a trade route to a nearby builders outpost. On arrival there, they were informed of disruptions and incursions in the mines below the post. Heading into the shafts, they first had to deal with some malfunctioning mechanical devices roaming the area. These proved very tough, but eventually, they smashed them into bits. Descending deeper, they ran into some sneaky ratmen. Gojiro's keen senses and patience, helped him spot and ambush an initial scout and then the party engaged in a swirling melee with one pack of the creatures. Gojiros fairly quickly dispatched several of these thanks to his sharp blade and deliberate slashes. In no time at all, none were left standing, though one or two may have scurried away to warn or summon others. The party stopped to reorganize before pressing on.
