OOC
- Beware there is a link error in the hak list, make sure you got the two haks from GrassMaster.
- Can't find a good portrait on the vault, I may simply use the "fist portrait" (good alternatives may have been a portrait of Samson or Hercules)
- Still playing with my netbook, hope it will not create too many problems (e.g. lag or CTD)
- if would be nice if we could all use javelin (we may need to sacrifice a feat or take a fighter level otherwise)
- athletes are not wearing much clothes (if any at all)
IC
It had rained during the night and the hills were still soaked, not that Andreas could really see anything. He was running towards the woods taking a turn just a few paces from its edge he crossed a field of olive trees and continued along a small stream. He was thinking about what he would do after his daily training, perhaps he could go fishing. It was almost dawn, his feet covered with mud he turned back to return to the village...

Oops, good catch on the Roman Rural Temple hak, Mirgalen. The correct link is http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Ha ... il&id=2498.
Full posting, so +150xp to start.
IP is 108.207.36.11:5121, usual password. I'll get the server up and send out an e-mail to all players with that info in a few minutes, so people can begin character creation.

Hey, great first session, all!
To clarify something I said at the end of the last session: I certainly don't want to discourage exploration, and I've tried to include side-quests and easter eggs throughout the module to reward such activity. But even with two DMs it will be hard to keep track of everything going on at once, so you may not want to wander off too far alone. I've also placed a few things in the module that will make short work of a solitary explorer.

Damian stood outside the merchant's walls leaning on his staff lost in thought. He spent most of his youth living in harmony with nature, so he couldn't understand why that mother badger reacted to him so. He knew mothers would go to great lengths to protect their cubs, but they usually understood he was a friend and meant no harm. Perhaps Ismene was right and he was still too impulsive. He would have to give it thought. For now, though, she had given him and his companions a task and he meant to see it through, no matter the cost. The new staff he was able to fashion from the huckleberry* tree would certainly come in handy, though he hoped he wouldn't have to use it. He pulled out the healing satchels Ismene gave him and looked them over, hoping he wouldn't have to use those either, but fearing that he would have to use both. He sighed and put them away before looking over at the creek. He would ask one of the others to find stones for him because the water was running to fast for him to search properly. Ismene was right, he needed to pay more attention to his surroundings and get his head out of the trees. He chuckled and settled in to wait for the others.
OOC:
*I forgot the name of the crafting tree. I'll change it once I know.
My search skill is zero, so if anyone can get me some river stones for a sling next time, I'd appreciate it.

After practicing with the spear for a while Katamarene completed some stretching exercises to ease her muscles, making completely sure she was able to be watched by any nearby menfolk as she did so, then as the day was reaching it's hottest she returned to their newly acquired property and settled down in the shade of the large fruit tree. Extending long brown legs, her toes toyed idly with fallen fruit while she contemplated the morning's events.
Gazing at the building the girl contemplated its use. So what that there were olive trees around? She'd no desire to turn to farming as a way of occupying her time. The only callouses she'd intended to get would be gained from using a weapon, and she liked her back straight thankyouverymuch. Her grandfather would doubtless see it as yet another plus on the balance sheet in terms of attracting suitors, but she'd her own ideas with that regard too.
No, a pleasing place to gather away from the rest of the village when they wanted it seemed the best option right now. Of course it would need to be maintained, cleaned, water fetched, perhaps meals cooked, but she was quite certain that could be arranged to happen somehow. The day was warm even in the shade and there was no need to contemplate that right now. All she really needed was for someone to return and bring her a cup of water ....
((OOC - I forgot to say I am going away over Friday night. I should be back in time for game, but just in case there's a delay I'll try and let someone know. Also need to say I won't be here next weekend (20th) as we've the usual stand at a bike show to run.

Eleni judged the day's events to have been, in aggregate, quite satisfactory.
She had always reasoned that it was only proper for a respectable sorceress to posses a palace of some description (though Aristarchus, for whatever reason, appeared to disagree). Some grand marble structure by the sea, perhaps, staffed by a small army of pleasing servants and perhaps a chimera or two to guard the gates. Oh, and a dungeon, of course. She did not quite know who or what aught to reside there, but she was certain dungeons were non-optional in this sort of thing.
Co-ownership of an old house with an olive grove hardly compared to her daydreams, of course, but she reasoned it was a fair start.

"Ya-ha!" The spear struck the bole of the tree with a satisfying thunk. "Ya-ha!"
Polytropos nodded to himself. He was ready! The cave frogs would fall before him. He wiped the sweat off his brow, and struck a pose for the benefit of those watching him.
Which was no-one, he noticed with some chagrin. Militades was back at his anvil hammering, the others had all wandered off... even the women, which struck him as a little unjust considering all the effort he'd put into not looking at them as elaborately as possible. Quite a sacrifice... they'd more than likely wandered back to the house. A house? Olive trees? Whoever heard of a great hero owning an olive garden?
He shrugged, and inspected the spearhead - and frowned. Blunt, already. Ah well, he reflected, seeking out another stone to make a fresh edge. Battles were won with sharp wits as well as sharp weapons. He'd show them.

Telemachus idly spun the spear from hand to hand to get the weight and balance of it, and thought about the day so far.
Spending half of it chasing a badger around was faintly rediculous, but he found it rather endearing that his compainions were so set on doing the creature no harm. The reward though was out of all proportion, owning a farm put them into a whole different social class. Some of the others, with their various familiar or adopted connections in the village didn't seem to value this quite as much as him, who owned next to nothing and had been raised and fed mostly out of kindness. It would provide an income that would allow them to feed themselves rather than relying on handouts, and maybe enough to allow some saving, this in particular is what really entranced Telemachus, the trappings of a warrior are not cheap, and to be a full member of a phalanx was still a dream dear to him.
