((What? It's time for our monthly flea dip.
Actually, we're taking our two little dogs in for their shots and are going to see if two strays we picked up have RFID chips so we can get them back to their owners.))
Dancing skull, hidden shrine and unknown journey
IC
They had been in a strange tomb. They had faced the un-dead. One priest offered advice. He took the group to an Oracle. A floating skull who could see the future? There was a price to pay and answers were only "yes" or "no". Andreas did not like the deal. As he walked out of the room swords were drawn and a short battle later skull, priest and skeleton guards were defeated.
"Did we visit all corners of this place? Did we miss a turn somewhere?"
The Greeks continued to explore the underground complex. At some point they entered a shrine made of stone with no roof. Towards the back they were gentle slopes one left and one right. As they walked towards the elevated area they found a symbol painted on the ground. It was magical, a teleporter of some sort.
"This thing must be one way only" Andreas said "otherwise he would have been back already. We should go. You can stay but I'm going" he added.
The group emerged in what looked like a forest...

The forest, Eleni decided, was significantly more hospitable than what her imagination had dreamt up. She and her friends had not had great luck with portals, what between lands of eternal storm and troublesome cells and such. A nice forest seemed far more welcoming, even though she had no doubt it would soon reveal itself to contain many things eager to kill them.
And then there was the fact that she had no idea how to get back to where they came from.
Ah, well. Such is the life of heroes.

The portal had been an unexpected surprise, and where it led to even more so. A quiet wooded area with a rippling stream seemed rather idyllic, that is until Leonaidas discovered a beastman outpost on the farside of the stream. He'd carefully retraced his steps and found a more pleasant resident, a shy dryad. He had just been on the verge of perhaps gaining her trust when the rest of the group came stomping through the trees and scared her away. While the others debated storming the beastmen settlement, he pondered where the dryad had disappeared to. Perhaps he could find her again.

"Looks like quite a big camp," Polytropos murmured to the others. "Some sort of big thorn hedges, tall enough to be walls. Up to you if we mess with it, but if Eleni can throw one of those balls of fire, see if you can scorch or burn away some of that spiky kindling... then Leo and I can get in position, give them some arrows... Tel, Andreas and Kat can -"
He blinked. "Hey... where IS Kataramene?"

Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #2
Where were they? Had they been transported mere miles, to another land far away, or to another world altogether? Perhaps when they could see enough of the sky, they might be able to tell by the stars. A direct assault on the beastman homeland seemed like a poor tactical move, with only the handful in their party. They'd have to search for a way back though, and the beastmen seemed the most likely to have one.

To the land of the King and back.
The forest was quite pleasant all things considered. The Greeks ventured further away from the one way portal. Soon they would find where they were and if there was a way back or not. Andreas was confident.
A group of dog-men tried to stop them but it was easily defeated like the previous ones. Near the entrance of a tower, ugly bird-ladies attacked them from above. Inside the fortress they found a statue of Zeus. Andreas prayed and made an offering of 30 gold pieces.
As they continue to explore they eventually faced the King and soon realized that they were outmatched. Fleeing was the only thing to do. As they fled and returned via another portal to Thrace Eleni was killed. Now they had to negotiate a pact with that priest of Than-Athos who was waiting for their return...

If the sky does not fall on our heads Andreas should have enough XP to lvl up at the start of the next session.

((This happened last week))
Damian stroked his chin as his listened to Leo's description of meeting the dryad. He's right, he thought, she could have useful information. He turned to the others. "I'm going to see if I can find that dryad and talk to her. She should know the area and may have some insights on the beast men." He glanced at Leo. "Don't worry, Leo, I'll only be talking to her. I'll leave it up to her whether or not she wishes another 'conversation' with you." He smirked and set off, deeper into the woods.
As the sun reached its peek in the sky, Damian saw her. He had felt her eyes on him since he separated from the group, but knew that she would watch him first before she approached. He took his time and enjoyed his surroundings. Far too often he was forced to think of the next objective, not having the time to revel in nature. As he was playing tag with Aias, the dryad timidly approached and introduced herself. Damian smiled and started talking to her. She responded haltingly at first, but soon grew comfortable in his presence. Damian sighed inside because he knew he would soon have to leave this marvelous creature's presence, but he made a oath to his friends and to the people of this land to help them rid the land of the blight of the Immortal King. He only hoped the others were fairing well without him.
