Wen looks... utterly bewildered by almost everything occurring in front of him. A talking wolf? Tiny fey spirits acting like royalty? Strange dark places full of unquiet dead? He's not breaking down... but he is very quiet, hanging at the back of the group, nodding at the things his companions say while wearing an expression of acute, worried concentration as he tries to catch up with events.

But at the mention of Nergui's name, and the prospect of likely, imminent combat, he seems to collect himself. "We will endure what comes," he says. "I think that is all we will have to do. Yes. Move, and do nothing. We will act without acting, and the little bad-luck spirit will find us."

((I don't think anyone suggests retiring Tenko and having a new character, Mirg. As you say, that doesn't often work out well. Rather, I think the suggestion was to relevel him, maybe make him more versatile? Some rogue levels, or something... allow him to use more weapons, add some extra sneak damage... Anyway, that was likely just a thought.

This is a big group, and there's more of us than there are specific roles and optimal weapon-types. It's understandable there'd be some overlap, and this situation, with two characters both choosing to use two of the same, rare-ish weapon? This is a cautionary tale, I suppose, to co-ordinate better. I know a while ago I stopped trying to specialise in particular weapons in these campaigns, because I was never sure of what I'd get, and I wanted to make decent use of anything that came my way. Wen is a bit of an exception, but I made him a weapon master of the most common weapon type (longswords) and that still took a while until that choice paid off!

I do worry a bit, because we've all been playing together for a long time, but the questions of loot and equipment has seemed to lower trust. I get the sense that all everyone wants is for things to be fair, and not everyone feels things are fair right now, which is a shame. :( All I might suggest is, to continue with this campaign as well as we can, and when we start the next campaign, start talking more about who and what we're playing, and what we're looking to do, before the first session starts.

Hang in there, Mig. As Topato said - Tenko will get the next kama we find, I'm sure.))

Truly, the world was a far stranger place than they had ever imagined.

By contrast with the realms of light and shadow they had traversed, the world of the fairies seemed almost normal. And yet, at least to Ning's senses, there were subtle differences in even the smallest things. The spirits still whispered, yes, but here, they spoke a different tongue. The wind was more playful; the soil warmer; the creeks and brooks more talkative. Odd, yes, but not unpleasant.

Still. There were not here to enjoy the sights.

"I'm not sure if uttering the creature's true name will have the same effect it did before," she said to the others. "Perhaps because of this place, or else because something may have changed. Either way, we should be ready for a fight."

After Light and Darkness and the stop by the forest with the tiny royalties the group went to explore some new worlds. The new worlds were of ice and fire and then came a grey electric world that almost killed the entire team...

"I fear that if simply getting in was that difficult, things will only get worse." Tian said, as he brushed some of the lighttning wrought char and ash off of himself. "are we all prepared to continue?"

Huo Da followed the group as quickly as he could, but evidently the nature and workings of the portals were not as simple as expected, which really should have been what they expected. He had taken a moment to gather himself before following after them through the first set of portals, but realized soon after that more time had passed than he had expected.

Luckily however, it was not like the group was hard to follow and he made after their tracks. Ice, Fire, Lightning, and now Shadow. A multitude of worlds, but hopefully they were soon drawing upon their desired destination.

"Yes!" Moriko responded. She looked on into the dark corridor ahead. "But the yaoguei is being very naughty. Master said They say he will be very, very naughty if it gets what it wants." She paused and looked a little rueful. "But I didn't know what that was when he said, it was just silly and made no sense." Her voice became very solemn. "Everything will be all naughty if it does."

The priestess looked over her companions - injured, weary, far from home, and so very clearly out of their depth. She sighed.

"I think it's clear by now that we were not at all prepared for this, Tian. I cannot, however, imagine that our chances of success will improve if we linger here too long. None of these places we have journeyed through were meant for mortals. The spirits that call them home will find a way to be rid of us eventually."

Shaken and still recovering from the blasts from the strange sky, Wen is nodding along to the companions' words. But there's something else in his face, something that he's trying to grasp - an idea he's struggling to bring forward. But he can't do it... not yet. The moment isn't here. Instead, he shakes his head, chuckling grimly to himself. "Those who know when to halt, are unharmed," he says quietly, quoting some old master or wise man. The words give him something to focus on, and he breathes more easily, his sword hand becoming steadier again.
