Tian was happy with the outcome of their mission. To put the world to rights, spirits where they belong felt proper.

//aww man I wanted boots of wis, "walk a mile in another mans boots" and all that. Nevermind. A Belt of STR would be pretty coooool.

The tiny form of a dragonling hovered above the site of the portal. Wings flapping in the increasing storm it gained altitude to watch as with a speeded up version of the slow movement of the eons the ground around it first lifted then folded, broke and fell.

It gained further height with the updraft from the collapse, flapping frantically to clear the dust cloud, and when it had cleared the creature swooped down to examine the location. Little could be seen of what was once there and with a squeal of triumph it danced abd rolled around in the air.

Eventually it paused, hovering again and cocked it's head as if listening to some unseen voice while around it the cold wind whistled. The dragonling nodded in agreement to something unspoken.

"Yeth!" Came a lisping yet eager cry and the little creature turned its tail to the mountain and flapped energetically away.

((Will have to sacrifice armour I guess but +1 NA isn't much so +4 Wisdom amulet then please.))

Ning seemed less eager to withdraw from the world than she had before. Perhaps this marked a change in her disposition - a greater willingness to engage with those around her, a confidence that had been building now for years - or perhaps it was simply that recent events had impressed upon her the importance of her own power in matters both spiritual and mundane. In some sense, she had always known the world to be far more fragile a place than most were willing to assume. The events at Cloud Mountain, however, had made it clear to her - in ways that the brief and terrible war with the Horde had not - that she was capable of mending more than flesh and bone.

There was still much to learn, of course. For now, however, it was enough to give voice to matters that would otherwise go unheard. She did not intend for Cloud Mountain - or places like it - to become neglected while she lived.

In her spare time, Ning took to writing down her thoughts and discoveries. Perhaps one day, these things would be worthy of study - works of philosophy and, in time, history. She tentatively named these the Manifestations of All Things in Motion.

It was true what she had told Colonel Paq. It is in the nature of mortals to forget, but this did not absolve them of responsibility.

((Would probably have gone for a +4 WIS thing as well, if not for the fact that it's only a small upgrade over Ning's current amulet given she doesn't really care about spell save DCs. Think I'll opt for the Greater Robe of Water instead.))

The deed was done at last. The party has ventured through a world of shadows and a maze of traps to reach the thief who had stolen the seal. They defeated the demon's flesh, but even without flesh its spirit continued to resist them. They repelled it for a time, but it launched yet another attack just as they were about to return home and seal the portal. Luckily however they succeeded in sealing the worlds with the demon on the other side.

A resounding success, or so it would seem anyways. The problem, as Huo Da thought, was just as they had briefly discussed on their return journey. That this was likely not the first time the pathway between worlds had to be sealed, rather it was impossible for it not to be. As the seal already existed it meant that at least one other group had the task of separating the planes. And a simple task it was not.

And this would likely not be the last time it would happen, no. As time marched on and generations passed the purpose of the shrine and seal would move from duty, to legend, to being completely forgotten. And then someone will make the same mistake again, and then the demon will steal the seal again. And so the cycle will continue again.

/// I believe I shall go with a +4 CHA item please.

We begin TDV5 tomorrow.

In other news, I have finished building Assault on Aldera, now it's time for testing, testing, testing. I will start a new thread for character discussions as we get closer to the end of this campaign.

The group was asked to check the tomb of an emperor as there were reports it had been disturbed. Gojiro was particularly pleased to here they could keep anything might happen to come across while investigating the tomb. So, off they went. The local guards assured them the tomb was secure as the outer seal was intact and they insisted they had kept close watch and seen no signs of entry. The special key given them, allowed them to enter and explore the depths of the place. There were surprisingly few traps, but a number of locked doors that Gojiro managed to pick or smash open. Some of the outer tombs of retainers had been broken into, but the emperor's tomb's seal was intact. The group found a few useful items including a nice bow and a bunch of arrows which Gojiro collected for future use. Clearly someone had been into the tomb complex ahead of them and made off with some books and artifacts from the mage retainers tomb. Gojiro figured some mage had used magic to get in and out, retrieving stuff that interested a mage and ignoring the rest.

The Emperor's Tomb.

After saving the Kingdom from the great Oni who may return some day hopefully in the distant future the "Dragons" were given the task to investigate the tomb of an Emperor. Before leaving the city they were granted gifts and gold. A guide took them all the way to the tomb without incident.

Once inside, they had to deal with traps and guardians as expected. One of them was a gigantic construct. Tenko offered to distract the thing on the way in and on the way out as he was the fastest runner. It worked somehow but early on his friends ignored his offer and rushed into the large room only to be chased if not crushed by the big thing.

As they emerged from the place they was no doubt that the place had been partially looted in particular the resting place of a Wu Jen of some kind. It was nor clear however how the thief or thieves managed to get in and out without breaking the seal.

The Emperor's tomb. It was quite the honor and privilege to be granted access inside of the late Emperor's resting place. And while they may not have been granted access into his innermost resting spot that also meant that odds were the mysterious Wu Jen or group of Wu Jen did not disturb it either. Rather, what troubled Huo Da the most was the mystery of what exactly these Wu Jen had decided to take from what was likely the tomb of the Emperor's most regarded Wu Jen.

Huo Da himself had discovered a tomb of great power and knowledge that was simply discarded carelessly to the side in the ransacked tomb, so it only suggests that whatever tomes and artifacts the thieves took held great power or secrets indeed. And considering that the Wu Jen simply forced their way through the tomb's seal via brute, magically force suggests they already held a great deal of power.

"Jya. . . So much for this being a simple task. I can see the tendrils of complexity just reaching towards us. . . Yes, yes, this is going to be a long task, I can just see it now."

Their trip to the tomb of the Emperor had produced more questions than answers, with the outer seals and guardians all intact and working, but one of the inner tombs selectively pillaged. The choice of target and the method of the theft seemed to suggest someone with a great deal of magic at their disposal. The theft also seemed to have occured some time ago, at least months. Neither were there any clay warriors noticably missing, to explain the presence of the one they had fought on the road so long ago. They would have to take this mystery back to Taizhou, perhaps that would be the best place to investigate in any case, as it was the outskirts of the town where they had met the clay-man the first time.
