Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3

Kataramene, appearing fresh and slightly smug for some indefinable reason, seems pleased enough to even hand around breakfast items before tucking into something herself.
"We will have to take into account the will of the people of Argos," she said in response to Polytropos. "There are many who have aided us, and many who we might seek to repay - though I think we've been doing a fair bit of that on and off anyway - but there is little point in pushing favour for some if they will not be viewed well by the people of the city." She munched a little something for a few moments. "We can continue to show our own allegiance to those gods who have shown themselves to us, regardless. In the end, the people need to commit to the worship of the patron or there is no gain on either side, so who do we feel would be their choice?"

Tel trudges up and collapses wearily with the others. His armour is bloody and the great axe, which he grips loosely, is likewise stained with blood and ichor. Despite not having a face the axe contrives to look somehow smug.
"You would not believe the time I've had. Thanks for waiting for me by the way." he says, rolling his eyes. "Did Lethe make you forget all about me?"
He hrumphs and changes the subject. "So what's to eat around here? I'm starving."

It didn't quite feel like coming back home again. Heropolis was a place to be proud of - perhaps one of the most tangible things they had accomplished together - and Argos a place where they had put down roots. Both had become familiar. Comfortable. Places she lived. But she could not quite manage to think of them as home.
Still. It was something, and after the chaos of the last few months, Eleni looked forward to just... being here, again. Not fighting for their lives, for once. With the people she trusted most. And also Leonidas.
Despiets herself, the sorceress found herself grinning at the sight of Telemachus. "It's not OUR fault you couldn't keep up, you know," she teased. "Maybe next time, we could stop to admire the sights a bit more. But I make no promises."

Zokos nods at the discussion, looking serious. "Kataramene is right. While I would argue that Poseidon is an ideal patron for any community, it is the sincere belief that the community collectively holds that gives power to the chosen patron."
Smiling, he stands and stretches, "I for one am very much looking forward to these games, and to learning a bit more about Argos! I can not remember the last time I had to relax!"

+1700xp for Zokos, Telemachus, Eleni, Polytropos, Andreas, and Kataramene.
EDIT: with a late posting from karvon, make that +2550 for everyone.

Leonaidas wondered if Argos would be any more interesting after being away so long. He hoped folks would be grateful for what they'd done for the city, but sorta doubted they'd get any credit, let alone reward. He frowned as he contemplated is purse.

Leonaidas wasn't particularly enthused about the decision to resolve the city's patron deity by trial by combat. He personally felt it should've gone to Poseidon. The priest had been the most rationale of the lot and Poseidon's blessing and protections would probably benefit the city more than those of the other gods and goddesses. Perhaps Zokos would serve as champion though and make short work of the competition. He did worry about about another god throwing in a ringer, or even deciding to enter the competition themself in human guise. Well, it would be interesting to watch in any case.

"Why must it always come to violence when we're around?" Eleni asked rhetorically, sounding more amused than annoyed. "It's almost as if we're setting a bad example to people or something, solving all our problems with proverbial hammers. Ah, well..."
She shrugged, resigned to this state of affairs
"I suppose we should wish Zokos good luck. Poseidon's probably not the worst choice, in any case - though I do wonder what the temple of Hermes has planned... I wonder if they will try to call in any favors."

It was still unclear what the group was about to do, support one deity or split and support more than one.
"You know if I pray, I ask for Zeus to guide my steps. Having said that, if I ever decide to stop fighting but still want to do something for people, I could become a messenger since I move faster than most except for birds and people on horse. So if Hermes was to compete for the right to build a temple here I could help I think".
