You can't win all the time Andreas was aware of that. They had found another cave by the shore with some deadly creatures. Not everyone made it. They found the old man who was in fact a giant demigod. Andreas was neither in a good shape or in a good mood to fight. He did managed to knock his opponent once or twice but that was not enough and he lost. That was not however a big deal compared to getting everybody on their feet and finding the next destination...

Damian wandered along the shore, seemingly lost in a daze. "Now where did they get off to this time, old friend?" he asked the bear walking besides him. Aias merely looked up at him and seemed to shrug. Damian ruffled his ears. "My thoughts exactly, old friend. Well, let's go see if we can find out what trouble they've managed to stir up this time."

Telemachus studied his bedraggled, soggy, and in some cases recently deceased friends. "That could have gone better. Now that we've beat him once, I don't think we're going to get another chance to ask the Old man of the sea anything. Especially not with the caves flooded. We'll have to find some other way to find the Hesperides" He looked around glumly. "Any suggestions?"

Leo stroked his beard for a bit before responding. "I'm tired of being on the short end of the divine stick all the time, there must be some god or goddess who has a passing interest in seeing Herakles saved, Hera undone, or some combination of the two? I say it's time we find some divine patronage to balance the scales a bit back into our favor. As I'm no priest, I have no idea of how we go about seeking such though."

Eleni was still shaken by her recent death, staying close to her friends, shivering from the cold and wet and occasionally darting her eyes around, as if alarmed by some manner of phantom.

"We've.... we've already had that kind of help, Leo," the sorceress said, nearly muttering. "The only reason we found this... place was because Athena took pity on us. I d-doubt she can get away with interfering more directly, or she would have."

She stared at the ground for a few moments, then shook her head.

"I don't... I do not know what do. I would just like to leave this place for somewhere dry, for now..."

The best description of Katamarene, physically speaking and expression wise, was similarly punch drunk and battered. It would be hard to decide whether she was supporting Polytropus or simply unwilling to let go, but was certainly trying to make it look like the former even if it was hard to decide which was in most need of the aid.

"Dry is good," she remarked in a tired voice. "I'm not sure I'd care if I never get wet again, right now, but we have to think of some way forward too." Kataramene took a deep breath. "I don't regret the choice we made, Heracles' family may be further endangered because of it but we had to save ... them. We're being used here, and the only saving grace to that is us knowing that we are and willingly going into it, but we have the right to look to ourselves sometimes, don't we? Some things we shouldn't have to give up? Can prot..." She tailed off shaking her head.

"Perhaps asking for more advice from Athena is the best option." The girl continued after a few moments. "We could go back to the Spartans perhaps? Seek some intervention at their temple? At least we have a connection there, and it might be better than just trying to seek it at another." She paused again. "Failing that we need a place of knowledge, perhaps? Have we been anywhere and aided anyone who might be able to point us at the information we need, or is there some seat of learning we can visit?"

"It's all we can do," said Polytropos, still unsteady on his legs and looking glad of the support. "Do you remember that bad harvest, that summer? When we were small? When it didn't stop raining for days on end, and the fig trees were being battered and the farmland like swamp? How we were all close to starving, so they took the last pig and burned it at the Temple, and the skies cleared in a day?"

"So we pray. We find a place to pray for answers... and we make a sacrifice." He pats his pack. "Appease the Gods. Burn our food. Maybe hunt some game if we can, throw that on the fire too. Thank the Gods for their pity, and hope they'll take pity again."
