Pius was happy to be in this new place. The people were nice and the food quite good. He had a bare cell from himself where he could rest and pray whenever he wanted to.

After the first night he did not explore the building further as apparently there was nothing else to see but he had a chance to go outside with his new friends. Later that day he attempted a kind of challenge. He had to walk alone towards a statue of Helm to receive his blessings. He walked slowly minding his every step when a flock of birds looking like large crows came down from the sky attacking him on all sides. He killed one or two and his friends killed the other angry birds.

"I failed. I think I failed." If he was supposed the handle the birds alone than surely he had. Although he did not call for help the result was the same. Near the statue he found a rusty sword bearing the watching eye, symbol of Helm and a belt made for an Helmite priest or knight. He took the items. He was not certain if these were in fact offerings to Helm rather than gifts from Helm. Perhaps someone at the temple would know...

Toric sat in the forge listening to the smithy's hammer as he oiled and repaired his new armor. It was an exceptional piece of Dwarven craftsmanship and he knew it would likely serve him well once he and the others delved into the temple catacombs. It certainly stopped those pesky birds harassing Pius from pecking him.

He thought about his new companions and smiled. They were a good lot, though he wasn't real sure about Slade and Suula. The former kept to himself and the later seemed a bit...morose? He knew she followed that Goddess of ill luck, Beshaba or something, but, still, she didn't have to be so...enthusiastic about her worship. He sighed and decided to keep an eye on that one to make sure her Goddess didn't bring down too much bad luck on him and the others.

He finished oiling the armor and put it back on, testing its fit. He nodded and looked around the smithy, settling his gaze on the battle axes hanging from a rack on the wall. Normally a cleric of Silverbeard received their ax from an elder member after they finished their training, but given where he was, he was sure He would understand. He walked over and selected one, bringing it to the smithy to inquire about its price.

It took a while but Shanni finally realised something was missing. She gathered together her things, brushing away a hand that held her with a vaguely mumbled, "Later."

The young woman padded out, looking around and frowning. It was quiet. "Too quiet," she added as she padded back to their shared room. "Nothing, oh dear."

She bit at her lip a little, anxiety clouding the blue eyes. "Where in the Lady's name have you got to?"

She padded on further, looking.

Nihmri sat by herself in the library, nursing the nasty dog-bite she'd received in pursuit of what now evidently qualified as her duties. Things had not quite proceeded the way she had anticipated, but she was not about to complain. There was quite enough of that sort of thing going around with Suula in their midst. And it seemed prudent to save her energy for the task ahead, besides.

Dealing with a possible outbreak of undead was a new one, even for her. She wondered how her fellow acolytes would manage.

"This is seeming like less and less of a good idea," said Suula, wearing a padded leather overall and with a wooden shield and club in her hands. "Chances are, we're just going to end up as more permanent additions to the catacombs. How many of us actually know how to fight? I'd feel safer with a chicken drumstick." She waved the club half-heartedly.

And then Shanni arrived, making final adjustments to her robe, and Suula's expression shifted from gloomy to haughty, her nose in the air. She very carefully did not look at her sister. "So there you are," she said, sniffing disapprovingly. "You wasted no time getting your claws in, did you. Some of us have been doing work while you've been busy with... what would you call it? Holy communion?"

"Now now, Sis," Shanni responded pleasantly enough, "there was nothing holy about it. As you'd know, if you ever relaxed long enough to have a good time. Though that would require you to remove a stick from the place you store it, or is that what you are waving about?" She paused and took in the nature of her sister's attire.

"Why are you waving it about?" She paused again and looked from one to the other of them. "And why do you all look like you're dressed for trouble?" She sighed deeply, rolling her eyes, and looked at Suula.

"What have you been up to now?"
