Leonaidas listened to the others for awhile before interjecting, I seriously doubt the ravaging beastmen armies will simply disappear or lay down their arms now that the not so immortal king is dead. They are winning lands here afterall, so they may well decide to settle on them. We've had no luck communicating in the past, and I don't see how that has changed, so not sure how we could negotiate with them, even if they were so inclined. We should find out the status of the Thracians; if they are all but wiped out, not sure what more we could do for them, or if it would be of any benefit to us to bother to try, since they may no longer be value as allies, which why we came up here after all. For that matter, the beastmen might make better allies at this stage of the game - assuming we can figure out how to communicate with them.

Polytropos still looks a little taken aback at the idea of such powers, but raises the eyebrow at Leonidas's suggestion.

"I wouldn't want to make common cause with any dog-man like these," he says, looking dubious. "They're not of this land. The Gods might be displeased if we try, and I can't see the wise men of Argos buying it either. I say, we try to find the beast-men first! See if they really are covering all of Thrace, or if they're fleeing to lands unknown. If that's the case, maybe we can give the Thracians some good news. If the news is bad, then... then we know if we've got time to spare, right?"

"Speaking of good news," he adds, "There are also the dryads! We can tell them that all's well. Maybe they know if there's something we ought to do to that portal before we go?"

"Can we look in on home if we get a chance?" Telemachus asked. "We've been gone a while, and I worry about the place. The world has gotten dangerous lately."
"Other than that, I'll leave it up to you what we should look at, but if that thing can find the golden fleece and drop us on top of it we should do that!" he said, chuckling.

PWs are same as usual.

We'll start encamped in the palace of the Immortal King, since you have some unfinished business there.

Leonaidas made good use of the time on the voyage home. He carefully scribed the songs of the dryad and Thracians he'd listened to and practiced the melodies on his harp over and over again till satisfied he'd mastered them. He worked on a number of original compositions based on the adventures of the band and blended elements of the Thracian and dryad styles with those of Argos. He spent a bit of time chatting with the sailors and picked up a few interesting tales and bits of info he thought might come in useful down the road. The crew enjoyed his nightly performances, and his companions had to grudging admit he was actually starting to sound fairly good (Performance 13+ now).

Eleni, for lack of anything better to do, spent most of her days studying the notes and transcripts she'd brought back from the Immortal King's fortress. To keep herself sane, she insisted on bouncing ideas off her companions - even or especially when nobody else could figure what in Hades she was talking about. Things got a bit worrying when she started wondering aloud about the proper kinds of blood for use in magic circles, but she stopped with that quickly enough once she noticed the looks she was getting.

Another sea voyage. Kataramene split her time between practice exercises with sword and shield and relaxing, sunning her long limbs stretched out on whatever part of the deck left her least likely to get in the way of the sailors. Of course not getting in the way of the sailors didn't mean out of sight of the sailors. Not too far away from any admiring glances that might come her way. Where was the fun in that?

"What next, do you think?" she threw into the conversation one languid afternoon, "Do you think the King will have more tasks for us to do? Or will we have to break from Argos to find further ventures worthy of heroes?" She idly plaited a lock of hair. "We can't rest idle, reputations are too soon lost. If we don't continue to use our talents, ours will fade as new favorites come along. We'll have to move on if so."

Sailing home! There was no feeling like it, Polytropos thought. The quarters may be cramped, and there wasn't ever far to walk if you wanted to stretch your legs, but getting up on deck, feeling the wind in your face, the waves rushing by and the coast passing steadily by gave a sense of motion, a sense of excitement, like nothing he'd experienced before.

All the better for it to be a homecoming! They were heroes of the hour, having triumphed over beasts, monsters and men, and now they could return and be feted. When he could, he had applauded Leo's composing and singing - not simply because he was finally getting the hang of how to make passable music, but because if it was good enough, maybe other singers would take it up as part of their repertoire in turn...

Still, Kataramene's question was a good one, and he nodded at it. "Having gone as far as Egypt to the south, and as north as Thrace, where else is there to go? Where do we want to go?"

Damian and Aias split their time between lounging on the deck out of the way of the sailors and beneath, out of the way of the sun's harsh rays. It took awhile for the sailors to trust Damian when he told them Aias wasn't going to attack and even longer for them to understand that he wasn't a trained pet. Eventually the crew came to respect the bear and enjoyed playing with him when their duties permitted. As time permitted, Damian engaged Eleni in discussions about portals and how to close them - the last thing he wanted to see was another demon roaming the earth if he could prevent it.

Pws are same as always.

We'll begin with the party stepping off the boat on the docks at Argos.
