Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3

Andreas found a bit amusing the idea of going all the way to Hades to catch a "dog".
"I think we should do it and let the dog eat the King."
As they were on the way to Hades (a road most likely paved with good intentions) news came to them regarding the whereabouts of certain hero who may have been captured and kept in a temple quite literally under their noses.
"Now what? Shall we catch the dog first, then break into a well guarded temple in search of a hero? Or is there a sure way to confront the priests, forcing them someone to tell the truth without us getting in too much trouble?"
If they had to submit to all the request of a King, Andreas was not sure what leverage they had to negotiate with priests and secure the freedom of the missing hero. Could it be done without a fight? Or would the priests offer another bitter deal just like the King?

Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3
//Just an FYI: there's supposed to be a blizzard blowing through here this weekend, so I may or may not be here depending on whether or not we have power. If I don't post before game time Saturday, don't expect me.
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3
//So far we've just got a bunch of snow and ice, but no power outages or other disruptions in services, so I should be fine for tomorrow's game.
"We'd be better off trying to rescue Heracles than stealing Cerberus, Andreas. I'm pretty sure Hera knows that Hades will not part with his guardian lightly. Didn't we talk to someone who said something about helping us do that?"

"We'd definitely be better off trying to rescue Heracles first," Kataramene nodded at Damian. "In fact from what Iolaus said we're not going to be able to get near Cerebus at all. If mortals cannot enter that realm and leave, then if we go in and manage to capture him we still wouldn't be able to get him out because of that fact."
Her lips tightened. "This task was set to make sure we failed, that no matter how heroic we are, as the last time I checked..." She shuddered a little and glanced at Telemachus, Eleni and Polytropus too. "I think we're all aware of just how mortal we are, but try not to let it get in the way of what we do."
"Rescuing Heracles is the only option, but it's not going to be easy and it's very likely to make us unpopular around here if it's known to be us, too," Kataramene continued. "Epistor is out finding what he can, and we've plans to send Leo and Pol out to have a snoop around when he comes back with the disguises we requested, but I think we should be prepared to leave and go to the villa and have some essentials sent there ahead of us." She paused. "If this goes wrong we may need somewhere to hide."

Leonaidas liked their new patron, this goddess seemed to appreciate his way of life and attitudes. She'd certainly proved more helpful than any of the rest of the pantheon as far as he could figure. He listened for a bit as the others discussed their options of rescuing Herakles or capturing the three headed demon dog from Hades. He had serious doubts as to whether this band could actually do anything stealthily, but that seemed the better option. Besides, who knows what sort of trinkets he might stumble across in the course of exploring the temple?

Eleni sighed. She remembered her recent, if brief, visit to Hades well enough.
"I agree, Katara," she said. "Neither option seems particularly enticing, but I would rather step into the Temple of Hera's inner sanctum than into the Gates of the Underworld. Again. I am not sure how far the disguises will take us - perhaps my veils will serve us better, but any priestess worthy of the name could think of a way to breach those, if we are not careful."

"No God has yet decided to claim me as a bastard offspring, so yeah, I don't really want to go boating on the styx any time soon. Lets face it, I doubt we can make Hera any more angry with us than she already is. And I'd rather face a gang of irritated priests than the guardian of the underworld."
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3
"One of us dead worked the first time," mused Polytropos. "Maybe one of us can be 'dead'', and we can get in that way? Heh, it's one quick way into the Underworld, right?"
