Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

Slade wasn't quite sure what to make of the others he'd thrown in with. He scouted and reported back his findings in the sea caves, then led off along his planned route only to discover the rest had decided to go off in another direction. He backtracked and caught up with them in some catacombs beneath the monestary. He wasn't really clear on exactly what they were looking for, but they did find and seal a number of fissures through which weird bugs were swarming, so perhaps that would solve the problem. He wondered if they were getting paid for this; probably not he sighed.

Pius went back to his cell to get some rest.
He wondered where Amathain might be. He wanted to show him the letter and give him the token left by his predecessor. Perhaps together they could figure who the man was and why he left the temple. Amathain may consider trying to search for the man and in that case Pius was eager to provide assistance. After all, knights and paladins should support each other regardless of faith.

The floating light-glowball had been defeated by their faith... and the gate it had been guarding had been defeated by Toric's face. Now all that remined were the steep stairs of the monastery, leading deeper and deeper into the supposed nightmare-haunted, ill-omened darkness...
Suula took one look, and made a decision. "I know how this is going to sound, but you all have to understand these are holy words, sacred to my goddess," the unhappy priestess said. "Are we clear? Yes? Right."
She cleared her throat, and intoned, with ritual solemnity...
"I think you should go first."

Shanni looked at Suula irritably and gave a long suffering sigh.
"Being faint of heart is no way to win the luck of the Lady," she responded firmly, injecting cheeriness into her void. "Besides, think of what adventure we'll be experiencing by going down there, and if there is anything likely to cause trouble for the temple then we'll be helping everyone out into the bargain."
"Plus it's the Temple of All Faiths," Shanni added and waved her hand towards the ceiling with a positive flourish. "Think about it, they're all going to be grateful." She glanced at her sister. "Even if some more than most."
"So!" she declared, rallying her demeanor after the slight pause. "Instead of just staring down there somebody start a light and lets go!"

"Please," Nihmri said, smiling. "Allow me."
She muttered a word in a language nobody else knew, and suddenly the corridor was bathed in light. Its source seemed to be a point on her forehead, shining like a luminous third eye.
"The All-Seeing will light our way," she said, sounding far too pleased with herself.

Toric squinted at the sudden light. "Ack, lassie! Warn me next time 'fore ye do somethin' like that, eh? Ye nearly blinded me." He snorted and muttered something about humans and their inferior sight before he moved far enough away from Nihmri's light to allow his natural darkvision to readjust. He turned around halfway and called over his shoulder to Shanni: "yer sister has the luck of the Lady, lassie, just not the proper one I be thinkin."

Amathain caught up with the group as they were about to descend the darker stairs further down. "I'm sorry my friends, duty called me elsewhere, what have you found?"

As the party readied to board the boat taking them to the Moonshae Islands, Toric looked a little green. "I thought I had me fill of boats" he muttered. He sighed and shook his head before hitching his backpack up a little higher on his back. "Nothin to it but ta do it me pa always said. Let's get this done, laddie. The sooner we be on, the sooner we can be off." He turned back to the temple and raised his new shield in silent salute, "thank ye, laddie. I'll take good care of it fer ye." He smiled and followed the others up the gangplank.
