//It's 9:30 AM for me and I'm more of a night person now because of my wife's sleep schedule and sometimes it's hard for me to get up even that early. Make it an hour earlier means I have to get up an hour earlier to deal with the dogs and get something to eat, so I'd rather the time stay as is if possible. I will get up earlier if required.

So they were hunting a lich, not exactly Slade's dream job. It was a scouting mission in theory; they were supposed collect information on the lich and his defenses. Slade sorta doubted that's how the party would actually interpret their orders and expected a full confrontation. They certainly hadn't attempted to creep thru or past anything encountered in the early stages as they carved their way thru ogres and undead. They'd ended up in an underground complex with six outer towers and a larger one beyond a deep rift. Slade's guess was they'd need to find things in each of the outer towers to somehow gain access to the more distant one.

Lich hunting. As if the undead the party had been encountering wasn't enough. Although Toric enjoyed being underground, this complex he was currently rummaging through made his skin crawl. Even dealing with that Drow bitch was preferable to this place. He just hoped they could find all of the crystals they needed to cross the chasm blocking their way so they could put this awful experience to a rest; that was unless the lich decided it didn't approve of their unannounced visit and decided to come calling in person as it were.

Town of the dead.

A few towers with undead crawling. The Devoted explored a few of them removing the monsters they could find. They also collected pieces they apparently needed to access the main building.

As suggested by Toric, the group used a new formation, or tried to. Toric wanted to be in the centre front so Pius offered to protect one of his flank, the right one came to mind leaving Amathain to secure Toric's other flank. In theory that was effective but in the rage of the battle things were not always so well defined.

A few times Pius found himself unable to strike the enemy because there was no space to engage the foes...

"The towers seem to be of increasing power as they get closer to the gate. I think we should try to work through them methodically, and perhaps in order, rather than simply deciding "Oh that one looks interesting"."

A thought is nagging at Suula's thoughts, and as usual, it's not long until she voices it. "Who does this?" she asks, looking around at the squat stone huts and towers. "Who makes a little village for all their undead? Was... was this here already, and this undead king thought, 'ah, this'll work, you can live here'? Or did he just decide that his mindless... d-dead experiments needed a roof over their heads...? Is this just for people like us to die in or is it really meant as... houses?"

A note of hysteria creeps into her voice. "Does that make us the monsters breaking down doors, or... or what? This, eheh, this is asking more questions than, than it answers..."

For reasons that were not entirely clear, Nihmri had chosen this particular moment in time to produce her harp. She ran her fingers over its strings, and hummed a solemn tune.

"Where no one knows your name,
and the dead are those that reign.
Where silence is your due,
and you no longer know what's true.
Oh yes, welcome!
Welcome to wonderful Creepyton."
