Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
Moderator:Lazybones
Just a reminder that our next session will be February 11.
I may have to attend a conference for work on March 4 but I'm trying to get out of it.

The group continued to explore the maze of the mad mechanic. They managed to get help from the quasit their may have been a bit of "persuasion" involved. They also found Amathain in a cell and freed him. A Chaos Frog was in an adjacent cell. They left him there although Althor wanted to kill the beast. They continued to search the place but ended up in a dead end. Perhaps there was another room or corridor they had missed or possibly a secret passage...
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
The team tracked down and captured the troublesome quasit and managed to wring a bit of useful information out of it. This enable them to free the missing paladin from his cell. They refused to free a death slaad in a neighboring cell and it got violently angry, eventually blasting its way out of confinement and disappearing down a passageway. Slade worried whether they'd seen the last of that beast. In any case, the mad mechanic was awaiting them, probably beyond the nearby hall guarded by a couple more of his battle golems. Slade wasn't looking forward to facing them, but with the paladin back, maybe it would go better than the last round.

Toric grumbled. "I hope we're 'bout to that damned Mechanic 'cause I'm getting right tired o' this place. Who'da thought it'd be this much trouble just ta get some damned ore?" He pulled out the chaos ore. "'Least we got this fer our troubles. Hopefully them boys at the forge can do something with it. Be nice ta have a sharper ax..."

"It all could have gone so smoothly," Nihmri said, wistfully. "Hello there, good sir. We would like to purchase some fancy rocks. Please do not be alarmed. There is absolutely no reason to unleash your legions or mechanical abominations upon us - no, good sir, none whatsoever!"
She sighed, perhaps rather more theatrically than was strictly necessary, and then shrugged her shoulders. "Oh, well. It's all down to blood, now. What can you do?"

"Draw blood, obviously." Suula examines her blade for notches, arm shivering a bit from repeated impacts on solid metal - her face hollow and dark-eyed, the running hair-dye giving her a painted, frightful deaths-head look. "Told you we'd kill him. Brought it on himself."
She flicks a look to Amathain, to Shanni, to the others. "Think of it as saving the life of the next poor sap walking through his door."

"We'll talk to him if we can. This situation might have progressed well past the point where diplomacy is an option already, but we'll not shut that door from our side. We'll do what we must though, we have a duty."

Shanni nodded in agreement as Amathain spoke, watching Suula. "Everyone needs one last chance if there's an opportunity to give it. If he doesn't accept it then there's nothing to be done, but we have to offer it." She sighed a little and pulled her weary looking form into an alert posture and tried valiantly to turn her strained expression to reflect determination.
"We make our own luck, but when the Lady smiles sometimes our fortune is bound to be bad news for others. It's just the way of things, and it's why the Ladies are twinned - I think I see that now. But we shouldn't be murderers." Her lips tightened firmly. "Never that."
