"Someone's picked a strange time to get all philosophical on us," Nihmri said, eyeing Suula with suspicion. "Who are you, and what have you done with my favorite pouty doofus? Oh, gods - don't tell me. This is all in my head, isn't it? Or no, maybe not. I'm pretty sure my private Brain-Suula would not be doing this much pontificating."

She sighed.

"Gods, I can't wait to get out of here.

((Sorry, but it's looking like I'll miss our next game, too. Family things. Might be able to make the first hour or so, but probably no more than that.))

"Don't call her a doofus." Shanni responded. "And yes, it's in your head. You believe something and that's what your head makes everyone, we all do it. Just around here who knows what that'll do?" She shook her head looking around. "Don't ... I don't know, don't imprint something on someone just because you believe it and say it out loud makes others believe it. We don't want someone not to be able to do what's needed because the belief others have changes them."

Dream Continued.

The team continued to explore the maze. One of the freed prisoner tagged along which was not to the liking of everyone. The team encountered more former allies and foes. All were illusions of some sort. Even Orcus showed up. Later some orc showed up. Apparently a friend of the group. He also was quickly dispatched. The group even attempted to go out of the building but the danger was apparently greater outside then inside. Back in, they continued to explore. The prisoner betrayed the group at some point and fled. Next, they triggered a portal and ended up in some tunnels populated by numerous floating eyes. Most likely the beholder lair...

If anyone is planning on a long summer vacation, post here so we can plan our upcoming schedule. After this weekend I won't be traveling again until October.

Although he knew it was just a dream, Slade had found it a bit jarring to see the image of Pius conjured up. The orc had been a solid warrior, though he had, like Slade, sometimes gone his own way. It had ultimately led to his final demise, but Slade figured Pius was probably happier now in whatever version of paradise he had gone on to. As for himself, he wasn't ready to move on yet; he figured he had centuries of life to enjoy yet, as long as he didn't get too careless.

"So's this is it, eh? I'm bettin' the big, bad beholder's behind that there door." Toric stared at the door in question. "Don't think I much like these floating eyeballs, what with their ability to remove me spells and such just by lookin' at me." He turned to the others. "I'm guessin' the best plan will be to ward me and Am 'ere while the rest of ye pelt it with spells, arrows, bullets, and whatever else'll hurt it. If'n I can keep it focused on me while in me stance, that should give ye plenty o' opportunity ta hurt it. Just make sure ye keep me alive 'cause I doubt I'll have the time ta be chugging potions or castin' spells.*" He turned back to the door and gripped his weapon. "Well, no time like the present me ma always said."

*OOC: I believe these actions will cancel my defensive stance.

"I think you''re right," Shanni nodded at Toric as he spoke. "I don't think anything I do to protect you now is going to last five seconds, if the last fight is anything to go by. I felt the blessings all crumble in one go when it did this weird wobbly thing." She shook her arm in the air in vague imitation of the beholder's tentacle waving. If I can time it I will try to tell if the thing does the same as the last and then after it has I will bless you as well as I am able."

"I'll also try to so what I can to aid the fight with ... err ... anti-blessings?" she added, looking a little unsure of herself. "I don't think I'm going to get the hang of cursing quickly, but wishing evil harm in the name of the Lady does seem to work ... a bit ... well I'll see what she'll let me do."

"You know what? They may have more eyes than we have fingers yet they can not hurt what they cannot see."

The archer paused for a moment smiling.

"The rays, they are coming from their eyes, blind them all at once and we shall dispose of them nicely."
