Lazyzeus : Having met with the priests and the city leaders at the Bouleterion, you still have most of the day left to you. The Games are in two days, so you will have time to prepare.

Eleni : Well! Now that we have a little time...
Argosian Guard: *looks bored*
Kataramene : Who do you think they will choose as champions?
Eleni : Why don't we go check up on the market?
Leonidas : Probably import some talent
Andreas Appolodorus: Sure.
Kataramene : And if fight against them are our people going to be viewed badly?
Eleni : That depends.
Eleni : I suppose if Zokos loses, it might hurt our prestige.
Eleni : Though he IS new, so.... *shrugs*
Kataramene : If any one of us does, it will.
Egyptian Merchant: The knowledge of the Great Library of Ra-Kedet is now available for all who seek edification.
Leonidas: Edification is good. How much?
Zokos : I am not exactly a fighter...
Eleni : Are you saying it would be better for us to have two champions in the contest?
Andreas Appolodorus: Zokos will fight for Poseidon?
Zokos : Is it bad form to summon a Greater Elemental of Water to drown your opposition?
Kataramene : It wouldn't look good.
Eleni : Weee-ll, it IS a contest of divine champions, no?
Eleni : I would expect divine blessings to be above board.
Polytropos : You'll be fine!
Kataramene : Let's get rid of this stuff.
Andreas Appolodorus: We could go ask what the rules are.
Polytropos : I'd lend you my sword or something, but I think you use blunt stuff in there.
Polytropos : Hello, citizen!
Thracian Merchant: Welcome to my shop. Would you like to see my wares?
Eleni: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Zokos : My elementals usually do most of my fighting for me, Poseidon has supported me in that for years.
Cretan Merchant: Welcome to Knossos. Can I interest you in my wares?
Thracian Merchant: Welcome to my shop. Would you like to see my wares?
Polytropos: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Leonidas: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Cretan Merchant: Welcome to Knossos. Can I interest you in my wares?
Zokos: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Kataramene : Hrmm... as I've that new big mace to hit constructs, is anyone going to want that gem hammer?
Andreas Appolodorus: Hammer? No.
Cretan Merchant: Welcome to Knossos. Can I interest you in my wares?
Leonidas: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Kataramene : IT's this one.
Kataramene : I mean, it's still pretty good at smashing them, just not /as/ good.
Andreas Appolodorus: Pretty hammer.
Eleni : If anyone else has somethey they want to get rid of, now would be the time.
Polytropos : *sells giant gems.*
Andreas Appolodorus: // Could come handy no?
Polytropos : You think we're ever going to face a giant metal man again? Heh.
Andreas Appolodorus: I am sure we will.
Kataramene : Might not, I suppose.
Eleni : Nasty-looking thing.
Egyptian Merchant: The knowledge of the Great Library of Ra-Kedet is now available for all who seek edification.
Leonidas: Edification is good. How much?
Zokos : Eleni, I have a few scrolls here that I can not decypher. Could you take a look?
Eleni : Sure.
Metrodorus: Can I interest you in some fine linens this day? Perhaps some supplies for the road?
Leonidas: I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Chionides: You look like a man who is interested in the finest arms and armor in all Greece!
Leonidas: I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Eleni : These are all scrolls you should be able to use.
Andreas Appolodorus: Eleni can you fix old magic things?
Eleni : Unless you'd prefer to sell them.
Hasdrubal: Welcome to my shop. Would you like to see my wares?
Leonidas: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Eleni : Ah, that depends? I can recharge old magic items, but I might need to destroy some others in the process..;
Andreas Appolodorus: Oh that could be good then. See my Thunder is almost gone.
Eleni : Aaah.
Eleni : That.
Kataramene : I remember I left some boots to be made by the smith.
Andreas Appolodorus: Could you fix it?
Eleni : Hm, well. Let me try....
Kataramene : I'll be right back.
Eleni: Item destroyed. The electrifier has been charged.
Eleni: There is no charge. You must use the destroy ability on other items to charge this item.
Eleni : Hm, I'm afraid I'm a little bit dry.
Andreas Appolodorus: * Watch Eleni do her Magic *
Andreas Appolodorus: Didn't work?
Thracian Merchant: Welcome to my shop. Would you like to see my wares?
Zokos: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Eleni : If we can find some other magic item we don't want, I can pour its energy into this one.
Eleni : So perhaps later?
Kataramene : Hello there.
Andreas Appolodorus: Good thank you.
Kataramene : Certainly. How can I help?
Eleni : I've recharged my staff a few times, by now.
Leonidas : *sits and watches ships come and go from the harbor for a while*
Zokos : How useful? I have a staff that's not particularly powerful....
Eleni : It's also nearly out again, though.
Eleni : Well, that depends. It's hard to say beforehand just how much energy I'll be able to transfer.
Kataramene : It didn't seem sensible when your patrons had worked together to end strife for her to be so ... unco-operative.
Polytropos : 's this.
Zokos : Take these two staffs then, I have three staffs and two clubs...
Eleni : Oh. That thing.
Eleni : Hm...
Polytropos : That thing!
Kataramene : They are not the only ones.
Eleni : Andreas. Your lightning?
Eleni : Let's see if that was enough energy.
Kataramene : *sighs deeply and nods*
Polytropos : Deet doo dee da...
Kataramene : I would have thought a priestess of Artemis would have understood that.
Andreas Appolodorus: Yes? Here.
Eleni : Hm, that's helped a litle bit.
Eleni : Hold on.
Kataramene : I would like to think so, though I was not the champion.
Kataramene : *looks at the Priestess*
Eleni : I can sell the construct-rod for about...13000 drachma, or try to recharge some items.
Eleni : Thoughts?
Polytropos : *browses combs*
Kataramene : I suppose it would. *watches Pol go past* I would have liked to try before.
Polytropos : *listens...*
Kataramene : I no longer favour Ares as I did.
Andreas Appolodorus: If you can recharge things it is good.
Eleni : Hm. Sorry, Andreas, but I think that money might be better spent on healing supplies. We go through that stuff like it's wine...
Eleni : We can always use smaller things for recharging, later.
Andreas Appolodorus: Sure.
Kataramene : *frowns a little, thoughtfully* He would ask that of me you think? I would have thought that .. well others in the group better symbolise him.
Andreas Appolodorus: Thanks for trying.
Eleni : You should have a few more uses out of it, though. Just don't exhaust it completely or it will become inert.
Polytropos : *shakeshake of head, point point*
Andreas Appolodorus: Oh I want to put it on a chimney some day.
Kataramene : *glances at Pol*
Polytropos : *browses*
Eleni : Erm. Okay. Fair enough?
Eleni : Here's your share.
Polytropos : Don't mind me!
Andreas Appolodorus: Ah more coins. May be I should buy a boat.
Kataramene : *looks at Pol again, then the Priestess* I'll do it.
Eleni : They're your coins!
Leonidas : thanks
Polytropos : *nodnodnod*
Egyptian Merchant: The knowledge of the Great Library of Ra-Kedet is now available for all who seek edification.
Zokos: Edification is good. How much?
Andreas Appolodorus: How much we need to be rich?
Kataramene : I would be grateful indeed.
Polytropos : *grin*
Polytropos : Intrigue!
Kataramene : *bids her farewell too*
Eleni : Hello, you two..
Polytropos : Hi hi!
Eleni : I have these big sacks of coins.
Eleni : Please have one each.
Polytropos : It's nice to have money. How did we manage before?
Kataramene : I have no idea.
Eleni : Did you get that thing?
Kataramene : Our own room. A grand house. A busniess. I'm never sure how that really happened.
Kataramene : What thing?
Eleni : The item you comissioned, I mean.
Eleni : Half a lifetime ago.
Zokos : Is Immunity to Death Magic worth 17k gold?
Kataramene : Oh! No, I was stopped by the Priestess of Hermes. She has asked I be his champion.
Tavernkeeper: Welcome to my tavern. Can I get you something?
Leonidas: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Eleni : Ah. Hm. Somehow, I'm not all that surprised.
Andreas Appolodorus: Not to me I do not need it.
Kataramene : Let's see if he has kept them.
Polytropos : Hehe.
Eleni : Are you going to take her up on the offer?
Kataramene : Hello! We're back.
Eleni : I should hope that you do.
Andreas Appolodorus: Where are the others?
Kataramene : I was wondering if you had retained the order I made.
Leonidas : *stocks up on drinks*
Kataramene : Uh huh, though it's been a while since we asked.
Leonidas : *sits and enjoys some food and wine*
Eleni : Hm. Maybe not quite what you were going for?
Kataramene : Oh good. I was hoping that.
Eleni : Quite striking, though.
Kataramene : Thank you, they are perfect.
Polytropos : Nice.
Kataramene : *hands the boots to Pol*
Andreas Appolodorus: Here you are.
Polytropos : *grins as he gets some new boots*
Polytropos : Hi Andreas!
Eleni : Alas. I could use a few, though.
Leonidas : *strums harp*
Eleni : I think I ran dry somewhere in Tartarus...
Kataramene : Thank you. And for once we have no bits of animal to ask to be crafted.
Polytropos : If we'd carted Talos here...
Eleni : That would not have been easy.
Kataramene : We can perhaps keep a bit of him once Epistus has arranged for dismantling?
Polytropos : Worth it, though.
Polytropos : Though, wow. We've been running like crazy for so long I forgot what it was like to have spare days.
Eleni : I know! This feels... weird.
Kataramene : I was just wondering what we should do with it.
Polytropos : *tests the boots, and stomps in them a bit.*
Eleni : I suppose I have a lot of reading to catch up on.
Kataramene : Could go swimming.
Polytropos : I like swimming.
Kataramene : There's that cove around the headland and all.
Polytropos : Good times.
Eleni : *Chuckles* Yes, well...
Polytropos : We could make sure our fighters are ready... ah!Hey Zokos.
Zokos : Hello friends
Polytropos : Hello hello!
Andreas Appolodorus: Who's fighting?
Kataramene : Mmm, if we are to meet in the arena.
Polytropos : You know! All those trainees at our fighting school.
Zokos : I must ask your advice, if you have a moment. A question about the Arena and such
Kataramene : It seems I am too.
Polytropos : It would be nice to actually teach them something...
Andreas Appolodorus: You are? For Poseidon?
Eleni : It seems he has accepted the call.
Kataramene : For Hermes.
Zokos : It is clear to me that Poseidon would be the best patron for such a thriving port city
Polytropos : Heehee
Kataramene : *lifts an eyebrow*
Zokos : But it is not my way to proselytize.
Andreas Appolodorus: Hermes? Why you? I should fight for the Messenger, I run faster than you all.
Zokos : I am also, in case you have not noticed by now, not exactly the most imposing combatant.
Eleni : Bescause they asked her, Andreas.
Polytropos : Heh.
Kataramene : I said that others would be more suited, but the priestess preferred it to be me.
Andreas Appolodorus: Ah then it is their mistake.
Zokos : Andreas, whily you might follow the Messanger, the question is not about who WE follow. The question is who is the best Patron for this city.
Kataramene : *draws herself up huffily* We will see.
Eleni : *Grins* I suppose you could appeal their decision, but..
Andreas Appolodorus: I follow Zeus not Hermes.
Kataramene : Then don't be an ass about it.
Andreas Appolodorus: See I hold Thunder.
Zokos : Indeed you do! Very nice!
Kataramene : I wouldn't wave that about either.
Kataramene : *huffy stomp*
Andreas Appolodorus: What?
Eleni : Anyhow! Does anyone know where the best place to buy healing supplies is nowadays...?
Eleni : We used to go to the church, but... ah.
Kataramene : The fellow from Thrace.
Eleni : Alright, then.
Eleni : *Shrugs at the others*
Leonidas : *strums and sings a few songs*
Andreas Appolodorus: Where to?
Polytropos : Importing medicines from thrace...s
Polytropos : That's pretty low.
Eleni : Ah!
Polytropos : Anyway, just back to the shops, Andreas=
Eleni : Look who it is?
Adelphe : Mommy, look!
Polytropos : Oh!
Zokos : **Calls after Katamarene** Kat, do you have a minute?
Eleni : Are you sure she's alone?
Andreas Appolodorus: What?
Kataramene : *folded arms, huffily looking at the arena* What is it, Zokos?
Eleni : Why, to say hello to my friends, fo course.
Eleni : Hello, you two!
Zokos : Did I understand that you may fight as a champion for one of the sects?
Polytropos : Heh heh.
Eleni : We were worried something might have happened on the road.
Andreas Appolodorus: Who was that?
Kataramene : I agreed to champion Hermes, yes.
Eleni : There's no shortage of those in any city, I'm afraid.
Polytropos : Welcome to Argos!
Zokos : Humm... I believe the Priest of Poseidon wants me to be the champion for Poseidon.
Kataramene : You will make a fine champion if you choose to.
Zokos : However I think we both know that I could never defeat you in open combat.
Polytropos : We might be able to sort something out.
Eleni : Yes. Though not in the city - in a village called Heropolis, not far from here.
Kataramene : He'd not find a better in this city.
Kataramene : You might, if your patron's favour wins out.
Polytropos : It's, uh...
Polytropos : It's... near...
Eleni : Oh, yes. We own the land there. Just started out as a villa-slash-gladiator-school, but it's gotten quite prosperous..
Polytropos : *looks at Eleni for help.*
Eleni : We could, uh, show you way...
Zokos : If this is to be decided purely based on the strength of our sword arm, then it is over alread. <sighs>
Zokos : I agreed with your argument, you are absolutely right. The city should have multiple patrons, each to their own realm. That is not the way of the world though, it seems.
Kataramene : I would appreciate not being drowned, either way.
Polytropos : Ah! Hello, Melina.
Eleni : Oh, Melina! Excellent timing.
Zokos : And I am not exactly looking forward to being on the business end of your sword!
Polytropos : We've got a job for you!
Eleni : This is Adelphe and Helene. The villagers from Foloi, you might remembe we mentioned them last night?
Polytropos : *grin, ting*
Eleni : Adelphe and Helene, this is Melina. She works at our villa.
Kataramene : It's not to the death. And nor am I unbeatable. *grins a little* Tel proved that.
Eleni : If you're going back anyway, would you mind showing them the way and introducing them?
Polytropos : Maybe at the estate, or... at the village, there's bound to be something for you we can find.
Zokos : Well, if you have any ideas I'm eager to hear them **glances at Kat's sword with a frown**
Kataramene : We were discussing the games.
Eleni : They've lost their home. So likely the latter.
Zokos : Not at all, how can we help?
Kataramene : And well met.
Polytropos : Just a little further!
Kataramene : The one we proved not haunted, yes?
Eleni : Indeed!
Zokos : I am not familiar with it, but I believe my companions are.
Polytropos : ...?
Eleni : We'll be dropping by shortly.
Polytropos : See you soon!
Eleni : *Smiles* No trouble. You just take care of yourselves.
Eleni : ...I think Andreas is trying to impress the priests of Hermes, or something.
Zokos : **nods at Leo**
Kataramene : What kind of trouble? Not a reoccurence?
Lamachus: The labor crews have been expanding the digs, to their profit.
Lamachus: Not like before... no bandits this time.
Kataramene : *nods listening*
Leonidas : *nods and listens*
Lamachus: Apparently they encountered some sort of ooze that came up from below. I'm no miner, but apparently the whole place is honeycombed with cracks and crevices and the like.
Eleni : Probably thinking he didn't get enough credit as the last Champion of the Arena?
Lamachus: Miners... an odd folk. Anyway, they said that this thing burned like a torch. It injured several men, and the rest fled.
Andreas Appolodorus: Five.
Kataramene : Oh wonderful. And you are requestion our aid?
Zokos : An ooze as in a monster, or as in some substance
Eleni : ..ah.
Eleni : I figured it was only matter of time before some new monster showed up.
Lamachus: *shrugs at Zokos* I'm afraid they didn't make much sense. They said it was a blob that moved around.
Andreas Appolodorus: Pol? Looking for a star?
Kataramene : We couldn't possibly have two days of peace, no. Oh well, better get moving then?
Lamachus: The quarry is a major source of income for the city. If you could investigate, it would be a great help.
Zokos : Let's take a look, perhaps we could be of assistance
Lamachus: I know it will cut into your training for the Games, but we would be grateful.
Zokos : And a situation without any moral ambiguity would be relaxing for a change
Kataramene : Mmm. Monster? Kill it.
Andreas Appolodorus: Grateful? What have we here?
Andreas Appolodorus: Only one?
Lamachus: Is this your entire party? Where is the big warrior?
Polytropos: That's a really good question...
Kataramene : .... he is doing his own thing.
Polytropos : Tel?!
Kataramene : But we can copy without him.
Polytropos : Are there any local monster dens? Maybe...
Kataramene : *cope
Kataramene : He might already have heard about the quarry.
Lamachus: Well, there's a new trail that leads around the city walls to the quarry. I can have the city guards show you the way, if you're willing to set out tonight.
Andreas Appolodorus: Don't worry I can smash things with no knife.
Polytropos : Who with the what now?
Kataramene : Head butting slime sounds like it would fulfil two of his urges in one go.
Polytropos : There's slime in a quarry?
Polytropos : What are we waiting for!
Kataramene : Fiery slimes in the quarry have shut down work.
Kataramene : Well... you?
Polytropos : ... erk.
Polytropos : Fiery slime...
Polytropos : Well...
Polytropos : ... um, okay
Andreas Appolodorus: The same quarry that was haunted?
Kataramene : We'll do so, councillor.
Polytropos : Gotta get that stone. Lead on!
Eleni : I'm going to go and make sure we're stocked up on healing supplies...
Lamachus: Very well.
Zokos : Are we leaving directly? I will begin blessings for our journey in that case.
Andreas Appolodorus: Quarr on!
Kataramene : As soon as we have supplies!
Andreas Appolodorus: * Quarry
Lamachus: I will get a member of the city guard to guide you.
Zokos : Has anyone seen Leo?
Lazyzeus : You catch the merchants as they are closing up for the night, but they are more than willing to delay their suppers to take your coin.
Cretan Merchant: Welcome to Knossos. Can I interest you in my wares?
Polytropos: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Thracian Merchant: Welcome to my shop. Would you like to see my wares?
Polytropos: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Polytropos : Ready!
Argosian Guard: Sir.
Kataramene : *looks at the guard*
Argosian Guard: I am to escort you to the quarry.
Leonidas : Me?
Kataramene : All of us.
Andreas Appolodorus: Ah
Argosian Guard: Heroes of Argos, sir.
Eleni : Oof.
Kataramene : Lead on.
Leonidas : Oh
Polytropos : Yeah, we decided you should handle this one alone, Leo.
Eleni : I hope everyone's got room...
Polytropos : It's just some burning slime, you've got this.
Argosian Guard: They've bricked in the old door for security reasons, so we'll have to go around.
Kataramene : *snickers*
Leonidas : What's in the quarry?
Argosian Guard: If you'll follow me.
Andreas Appolodorus: Proceed!
Zokos : Greetings, lead on and thank you.
Polytropos : Burning slime!
Argosian Guard: Who knows. Crazy miners.
Argosian Guard: Probably snorting those dried herbs again.
Leonidas : hmm
Polytropos : Oof
Eleni : I know.
Eleni : Andreas! Hold up!
Eleni : Ugh.. so heavy.
Eleni : *Mutters* Of all the thankless chores...
Argosian Guard: Everything all right?
Polytropos : How much bandage do tou think we';ll need?
Polytropos : Here, give me more.
Eleni : I'd prefer to sprea it around a bit, but..
Kataramene : *looks* I can carry some if you need me to.
Polytropos : I'll catch up to Speed of Lightning over there.
Argosian Guard: You'd think this could wait until morning, but no doubt Councilor Lamachus doesn't want to lose a single day's worth of coin.
Kataramene : Do you think he is trying to prove something?
Argosian Guard: Everyone coming?
Polytropos : I'm not complaining, man. I was getting bored!
Polytropos : Better hurry then!
Eleni : That should last you a while, hm?
Kataramene : Oh, it's him again!
Lazyzeus : The guard takes you on a circuitous route, around the city walls to the old quarry.
Eleni : Who?
Andreas Appolodorus: I hope so.
Argosian Guard: Well, here we are.
Argosian Guard: Should I wait, or can you find your way back?
Kataramene : Alright, over to us now then.
Polytropos : Thanks!
Polytropos : We'll make our own way.
Andreas Appolodorus: How we kill the monster?
Eleni : I'm sure we can remember the way back.
Kataramene : I think we can find our way back without being too tasked.
Argosian Guard: I'll tell the gate guards to keep an eye out.
Argosian Guard: Good luck.
Kataramene : So. Bored by the idea of a swim, were you?
Polytropos : What? No.
Polytropos : No, that's not what I meant.
Leonidas : *looks around*
Lazyzeus : The camp looks rather more busy since your last visit, though it appears to have been hastily abandoned by the labor crews.
Eleni : I remember the first time we came to this place.
Kataramene : Nothing up here.
Eleni : We'd only just arrived in Argos.
Polytropos : Themore things change...
Kataramene : Remember to "psst"!
Polytropos : Psst.
Andreas Appolodorus: Yeah.
Kataramene : That was the right psst?
Kataramene : And it's dark in here.
Eleni : Better?
Kataramene : Indeed.
Polytropos : Ack! Ooze!
Polytropos : Ow!
Polytropos : Don't set it on fire!
Kataramene : Ugh,,,
Kataramene : It won't splat.
Kataramene : Can we freeze it?
Eleni : Hm. I am developing a theory..
Kataramene : I think fire is making it better?
Andreas Appolodorus: Yes?
Eleni : I hope that was the only one.
Kataramene : If there are a lot of them we could be here all night.
Polytropos : Was it just me, or... was fire the only thing that actually worked.
Zokos : Was the fire not helping? I could not tell.
Polytropos : Like it burned it all up... slowly.
Eleni : It was mostly just causing it to burn acid.
Kataramene : I don't think it was working at all.
Polytropos : Like a moving puddle of crude oil.
Eleni : But you seemed to be well-protected against that.
Eleni : I wonder if we could freeze it?
Eleni : It's almost a liquid thing, and all.
Kataramene : I suggested that, but it was lost in the splatting.
Polytropos : Wait for it to get really cold, you mean? Oh, thank you.
Eleni : Sadly, that's never been my strength, magic-wise.
Eleni : I've always prefered burning things to crisps.
Polytropos : *tugs the basket over.*
Polytropos : Let's have a look down there!
Leonidas : So, um, is that it? We done here?
Eleni : Hm.
Polytropos : Not quite, man. Lower me down!
Eleni : Looks like it might have come from down there.
Zokos : Good idea!
Kataramene : You think that was the only one?
Polytropos : *clambers into the basket.*
Lazyzeus : The basket arrangement creaks dangerously as you examine it.
Polytropos : Guuuuh
Polytropos : Lower me CAREFULY.
Kataramene : Are you sure it's a good idea?
Polytropos : And keep that fire spirit away from the ropes!
Zokos : As good as any
Eleni : Are you sure you don't, say, want a safety rope?
Lazyzeus : The basket has suffered heavy damage, but the nearby ropes appear to be intact.
Kataramene : *takes a hand of the crank and hence takes the strain*
Zokos : **direct the fire spirit to a safe distance***
Leonidas : *watches*
Polytropos : It'll be fine. Lower away!
Eleni : Oh, dear..
Kataramene : *looks unconvinced but complies* Just hold the rope.
Zokos : Hold on to the ropes and frame above you, don't trust the basket entirely!
Eleni : This would be a VERY ignoble end, you know.
Polytropos : *holds on to one of the basket ropes, regardless*
Lazyzeus : After about thirty feet, the basket disintegrates.
Kataramene : *starts to lower it*
Polytropos : GAH
Andreas Appolodorus: Oh.
Kataramene : Pol!
Leonidas : oops
Zokos : **digs through his pouch, looking for his scroll of resurrect**
Polytropos : *flurry, swing, dangle*
Lazyzeus : Polytropos, holding onto the rope, is safe, but has to shimmy down the rest of the way...
Polytropos : I'm good! I'm good!
Polytropos : I meant to do that!
Eleni : Hm-hm.
Eleni : What do you see down there?
Andreas Appolodorus: Quick a rope let me go get him.
Polytropos : *yells* Green!
Kataramene : Green? What's green? More slime?
Polytropos : Everything! I think these are gems or something?
Kataramene : Should we come down?
Polytropos : Ooo.
Polytropos : Uh - yes!
Lazyzeus : The rope is available if anyone else wants to slide down. Though getting down may be easier than getting up.
Kataramene : The ooo's have it.
Kataramene : Eleni, would you rather be tied on and lowered?
Andreas Appolodorus: * Andreas goes down *
Eleni : Hmph. Do you think me that fragile?
Kataramene : I think you're made of stone, but that doesn't mean your grip is good.
Andreas Appolodorus: Pol?
Polytropos : Heyo!
Leonidas : *smiles*
Kataramene : Suit yourself, though.
Eleni : Oh, I'll be fine. Probably.
Kataramene : In that case I'll go down. *grabs the rope and slides*
Kataramene : This is ... unexpected.
Polytropos : So I think I figured out why Councillor Lamachus wanted the slimes gone quick.
Eleni : *Follows after KAt*
Kataramene : Yeah?
Polytropos : Yeah.
Andreas Appolodorus: A limestone mine?
Zokos : **Dismisses elemental so it doesn't cause any accidental damage**
Leonidas : *double checks the ropes and knots*
Polytropos : More'n that.
Eleni : Ah, see! Easy?
Kataramene : So why then?
Polytropos : *holds up a bit of green stone. it sparkles! It's garnet.*
Eleni : Hmmm. Interesting.
Polytropos : Maybe so his "stone quarry" could keep hocking out these.
Lazyzeus : [Tell] They seem sturdy enough.
Eleni : You suppose he knew this was down here?
Kataramene : A /gem/ mine. Wow.
Zokos : **climbs down rope**
Polytropos : ... how could you not know this? There was a basket and everything.
Leonidas : *follows the priest down*
Eleni : Well, I don't see any mining equipment down here.
Kataramene : What's the betting it's disturbed something old?
Polytropos : Someone dug these tunnels.
Eleni : Or something.
Polytropos : Oop.
Polytropos : Not that way.
Kataramene : Is that an Ooo or...
Polytropos : ... or this way, apparently...
Polytropos : 's try this way.
Polytropos : Gah! Ooze!
Kataramene : These are rather annoying, but that boiling one was nasty.
Polytropos : ... hack hack.
Eleni : Fire it is, then.
Polytropos : Is that... it is!
Polytropos : Invisibooze!
Kataramene : Is that even a name?
Kataramene : You just made that up.
Polytropos : *drownd'*
Eleni : Pol!
Polytropos : Hghblargl!
Polytropos : ... stupid... water thing
Zokos : LOL, sorry
Eleni : ....well, that's..;
Eleni : Exploding scarabs?
Kataramene : You are definitelky making that name up.
Polytropos : And UI'll keep using it til it's accepted.
Polytropos : Invisibooze.
Eleni : That strategy may backfire...
Kataramene : It's a silly name!
Kataramene : Should call them ... .
Polytropos : ... Scarabooms.
Kataramene : Ugh.
Polytropos : *nods.*
Eleni : What are /these/ things doing here?
Kataramene : Apparently providing Pol with a vocabulary.
Polytropos : Ooo, gem.
Eleni : I'm not sure it counts when he makes all the words up.
Polytropos : *chip chip chip*
Kataramene : It's still a vocabulary, just a risky one.
Polytropos : *walks away with a chunk o' gem.*
Polytropos : These are amazing.
Kataramene : The gems?
Polytropos : Never seen a stone so green.
Zokos : Gems here, does anyone have skill in harvesting?
Polytropos : *chipp'd some aready!*
Zokos : Ah, ok
Polytropos : Got to do something with these.
Kataramene : Pol's been using his quick fingers.
Polytropos : The quickest ever- what?
Kataramene : The air is against us!
Polytropos : OH, that's just WRONG!
Polytropos : ... well, that's never happened before.
Kataramene : Now it's just being annoying.
Zokos : Sorry, I have instilled the fear of Poseidon in the Fog Elemental... maybe not as helpful as possible.
Eleni : Well, at least it's not fighting back.
Lazyzeus : [Tell] You can feel the heat radiating from below.
Polytropos : Now I know what they meant when they said not to punch fog.
Kataramene : It /might/ be useful when there's nore than one.
Eleni : And to your credit, you did not... ugh.
Andreas Appolodorus: Stop it!
Polytropos : Glurk!
Eleni : This might be tricky.
Leonidas : lots down there
Kataramene : Ugh, it smells.
Polytropos : Smelled worse. Let's try and make this ow!
Polytropos : Look out, eleni!
Kataramene : Right you buggers.
Kataramene : There.
Zokos : I am completely exhausted... can barely walk...
Eleni : Was that all of the ones following us?
Polytropos : No.
Eleni : Because I'm sure there was one of them, at least, in the middle of things..
Kataramene : That's got to be the one creating more.
Zokos : What hurts them? It seems most things do not.
Polytropos : Still a few smokes around. And... yes.
Kataramene : Right, we bunch them at narry spots.

Lazyzeus : Victorious but scarred, you retreat to the relative safety of the upper level to plan your assault upon the strange creature behind the ooze intrusion...

Lazyzeus : Rebuffed in their initial assault upon the monstrosity behind the ooze infestation, the group--now reinforced--breaks camp to try again... Telemachus rejoins the group, bringing some very welcome weapons... The upper level remains clear, and nothing disturbs your rest. But you suspect that the alien thing will not have been idle....

Polytropos : Finally!
Zokos : Please hold for prayers!!
Eleni : *Lonely*
Polytropos : Where've you been, Tel?
Kataramene : Where in Hades have you been when you /could/ be useful?
Telemachus : Oh I'm sorry, am I not welcome at the snot party?
Telemachus : I'll turn around and go home then
Polytropos : Oh, oh no. You're so welcome. We got a spot saved for you and everything.
Kataramene : Right at the front.
Eleni : Consider yourself the guest of honor, in fact.
Kataramene : Give the speeches.
Telemachus : So why is everything, including you, covered in.. that.
Polytropos : There's monsters down here!
Kataramene : Oddly enough, slimey ones.
Polytropos : They're like moving puddles of gunk and weird angry clouds of smoke.
Eleni : Didn't I mention the getting-digested-by-ooze-monsters thing?
Kataramene : Oh yeah, there was that little centre peice.
Andreas Appolodorus: And don't let them corner you.
Eleni : The source of all this, most likely. Yes.
Eleni : But we were forced to withdraw.
Polytropos : We've tried everything! Chopping them, stabbing them, shooting arrows at them... burning then, zapping them...
Kataramene : Have you got a chilly weapon apart from your tone of voice?
Telemachus : Oh the slime *is* the monsters. Well I prefer wearing lion hides and such myself, but I wont criticise your fashion choices.
Polytropos : Shut u-
Polytropos : ...?
Telemachus : Big axe, not so big axe, and posidons trident all do that kind of damage
Andreas Appolodorus: I will try to hit them with pulsating sound.
Eleni : Share them around, then.
Eleni : We'll probably need them.
Polytropos : We might just need 'em.
Kataramene : Give me the not so big axe then.
Polytropos : You still have this, really...?
Kataramene : See if it works.
Telemachus : It was a gift from a *god*
Andreas Appolodorus: Any small axe?
Eleni : Let's not complain, now.
Telemachus : Just those three
Polytropos : Hey, Leo.
Eleni : Um, aren't we going backwards?
Polytropos : Watcha doin'?
Leonidas : Yeah?
Kataramene : Firing backwards.
Leonidas : Target practice
Polytropos : Neat.
Zokos : He's just showing off
Kataramene : Wouldn't you hit them better if you turned around?
Kataramene : ... Eleni is right.
Polytropos : *shrug*
Andreas Appolodorus: Where are they?
Eleni : I usually am!
Polytropos : Oh, THERE it is.
Kataramene : *tch* Men.
Eleni : I think they found some playmates.
Polytropos : We have an invisibooze attack!
Polytropos : Also , BIG improvement!
Eleni : Oh, gods would you please stop saying that?
Kataramene : It's a word.
Polytropos : It's as much a word as 'sorceress'.
Eleni : In the sense that it is a collection of sounds meant to convey a certain meaning, yes.
Eleni : But that is about the only thing those two have in common.
Kataramene : *smirking at Pol*
Eleni : In case you can't tell...
Eleni : It gets kind of unpleasant down there.
Kataramene : IT's a bit stingy down here.
Polytropos : Doesn't matter. Now the sandal's on the other foot
Zokos : Let's make this quick
Telemachus : I've got a stick that gives you acid resistence?
Telemachus : if someone wants to hold it
Polytropos : how do you use this thing?!
Zokos : Please all attack the same one
Kataramene : He has a point, that was how we got to retreat...
Polytropos : Oh, fine... that's hardly heroic, you know.
Polytropos : A successful test.
Polytropos : Thanks.
Kataramene : We're covered in slime, and dripping it from everything., which isn't heoric either.
Kataramene : There was something big.....
Polytropos : Ha!
Kataramene : And those damn beetles.
Polytropos : ... ow.
Eleni : Those seem very... out of place, don't they?
Kataramene : Maybe they eat the slime?
Polytropos : ... ah.
Polytropos : Smoke monsters.
Eleni : They attacked us from behind when we ignored them earlier, no?
Kataramene : Let's not leave them behind us this tme, now we know they are controlled.
Polytropos : Huge, huge difference.
Kataramene : This is where that somerthing was
Polytropos : ... hmmm.
Polytropos : Wait here, everyone.
Polytropos : Gonna see if we can lure 'em.
Eleni : Very well.
Polytropos : No, off the bridge.
Kataramene : Is there anything there?
Polytropos : lots.
Eleni : Naturally.
Kataramene : *expectant look*
Eleni : There's no kind of trap we can set for them, I think. They seem to shrug off almost everything.
Polytropos : Off the bridge? Dear?
Leonidas : There's some sorta slime demon or queen.
Polytropos : Yep, right back.
Polytropos : Further than that
Leonidas : Up on a ledge overlooking the cavern
Andreas Appolodorus: Cold or sonic traps will work we know this now.
Polytropos : Further than that
Polytropos : No?
Polytropos : Alright...
Polytropos : Here we go.
Eleni : Of which we have nothing whatsoever.
Telemachus : *push shove push*
Polytropos : And that's why not on the bridge!
Telemachus : YOU CANT GRAB ME IM ON FIRE AHAHAH
Polytropos : Back, back!
Kataramene : Something up ... what now?
Kataramene : Move over!
Telemachus : the hell is that?
Polytropos : Yikes.
Kataramene : Think my cloak is holding most of it off.
Zokos : Help!
Kataramene : Ugh... can't ... move ....
Polytropos : ... how?!
Zokos : I can't move
Polytropos : All I have are bandages, man!
Polytropos : Andgnhr
Kataramene : *frozen*
Andreas Appolodorus: UP
Kataramene : What /is/ this?
Eleni : I... think it's dead?
Telemachus : gross. and dead.
Kataramene : IT's in enough bits to be.
Polytropos : Euuugheugheguh
Eleni : ..interesting.
Kataramene : *picks up a limp of ... whatever on the axr*
Eleni : I suggest we get out of here before we all melt.
Andreas Appolodorus: What is?
Polytropos : Fair enough.
Kataramene : Dunno, but it has the feel al,most of a life essence face pack.
Kataramene : I think it was making more of them.
Andreas Appolodorus: The question is, where did this thing come from?
Kataramene : Let's ask the nice Councillor.
Eleni : Down.
Eleni : I'm sure that wherever it came from, it came from /down/.
Zokos : I think the question is where *did it not* come from, we seem to have many enemies
Telemachus : missing being part of the rockery?
Polytropos : *whew*
Kataramene : *stuffs the limp of whatever away*
Kataramene : *lump
Polytropos : ..?
Kataramene : Do we ask him some very pointed questions about what he was doing#?
Polytropos : *picxks up another green gem.*
Eleni : By all means. Let's.
Kataramene : Was it this way out?
Polytropos : Oh yes.
Zokos : looks promosing
Kataramene : Rope....
Polytropos : Here we go!
Polytropos : *clambers up.*
Andreas Appolodorus: Let us climb out of here.
Leonidas : *Wanders along behind*
Lazyzeus : The climb up is difficult, but working together you are all able to make the ascent safely.
Kataramene : *scrambles up after him*
Polytropos : Nnnng!
Eleni : Phew...
Polytropos : ... augh.
Eleni : I
Eleni : I... think we all really need a bath.
Kataramene : Two baths.
Eleni : I feel like I will never be clean ever again.
Kataramene : Still begs the question as to why that thing was there.
Polytropos : Maybe it always was
Kataramene : They just found it?
Polytropos : Some miners just barged into its house
Eleni : That seems... somewhat plausible, yes.
Leonidas : Seems likely enough
Polytropos : Hey, I wonder if that means no-one owns the gem mine part?
Polytropos : and if so, I wonder if that means we do?
Kataramene : *pauses*
Eleni : Hm. Councilor Lamachus would probably dispute that notion...
Kataramene : Negotiations can commence.
Polytropos : Well, sure, that's his job
Polytropos : *heads citywards.*
Kataramene : Are the gems pretty?
Lazyzeus : You circle the city walls and head toward the main gates...
Zokos : Who owns the rest of the mine? The miners, right?
Polytropos : The greenest ever.
Eleni : Hah.
Kataramene : Lamachus, I imagine.
Argosian Officer : The Heroes have returned!
Polytropos : *oozes.*
Kataramene : Heroines.
Eleni : Oh, be quiet.
Kataramene : The smell of success.
Polytropos : Long day on the gate, is it?
Argosian Guard: Smells like my sandals after a ten-day march!
Eleni : Let's have you fighting off ageless semi-liquid abomination and smell like peaches.
Polytropos : Yeah, yeah...
Kataramene : Pointing out the obvious can result in a stinging sensation around the ears.
Argosian Officer: Everyone's excited about the Games tomorrow...
Argosian Guard: Now, now...there's no need for that!
Kataramene : *mutter grumble*
Andreas Appolodorus: Let's go for a bath.
Eleni : Straight to the villa?
Kataramene : Better tell them we are done.
Polytropos : They can smell us.
Polytropos : Council be damned.
Kataramene : *grump grump*
Polytropos : Damn right!
Polytropos : *gives the man the stinkeye*
Metic: Really.....you could at least wash!
Kataramene : Oh shut up.
Polytropos : Tomorrow I'll be clean, but you'll still be a Metic.
Kataramene : *firm nod at Pol*
Polytropos : Heh heh.
Andreas Appolodorus: Hm dry.
Kataramene : That told him.
Lamachus: Certainly you can see your way to giving me a discount, my good man. After all, the Council sets the import dues...
Lamachus: Ah, the bold heroes return!
Eleni : Doing your usual thing, councilor?
Lamachus: *wrinkles nose* Hmm. Got a bit messy, eh?
Lamachus: Keeping the city safe for commerce.
Andreas Appolodorus: * jump in the harbour and get out after a quick wash *
Eleni : You probably don't want to know the details.
Lamachus: Did you defeat the threat? Are the mines safe again?
Polytropos : Sure you'd need somewhere to sell, oh, hypothetically speaking, gems.
Thracian Merchant: *looks on with floded arms*
Eleni : Suffice it to say the thing your miners ran away from was the least of it.
Thracian Merchant: folded*
Andreas Appolodorus: What's that smell?
Lamachus: Gems?
Kataramene : Yes, gems.
Egyptian Merchant: Who do you fancy tomorrow Tharican?
Eleni : Oh, I'm sure you knew. We saw the mining equipment down there.
Egyptian Merchant: My money is on the Egyptian
Thracian Merchant: A waste of good gold that
Eleni : Dangerous venture, though.... who knows how much more of those things are down there?
Lamachus: More wealth for Argos is good for everyone.
Lamachus: That's why we have Heroes to make things safe.
Thracian Merchant: What do you egyptian know about real fighting?
Polytropos : Oh, you did know! Who else does?
Lamachus: If you found some gems on your mission, why of course they are yours, a fair price to pay for your gracious aid.
Egyptian Merchant: Waves a hand dismissively* Pah!
Lamachus: You ascribe some conspiracy where none exists, my good man!
Polytropos : Hmmm...
Polytropos : *squinty look.*
Polytropos : .... aaaaaright, then.
Lamachus: Of course, if my miners find gems in their diggings, then we dig them up!
Lamachus: Surely you don't suggest leaving them to the oozes?
Zokos : That certainly makes sense
Kataramene : *tries to match Pol's squinty look, and gives up*
Lamachus: Aye, indeed! Listen to the priest!
Eleni : *Shakes her head* I thought you didn't know what the danger was?
Andreas Appolodorus: Even if they disturb ancient forgotten Gods in the rpocess?
Cretan Merchant: *rubs hands together* can't wait for the Games tomorrow!
Eleni : Spoke of the miner's complaints as if they were nonsense?
Andreas Appolodorus: * process
Lamachus: The miners work for me, of course I spoke to them after the mine attack. They briefed me fully on the situation.
Kataramene : *further squinty eyed-ness*
Cretan Merchant: It'll be fun! Haven't had a decent bit of entertainment since last year!
Eleni : Curious how you neglected to tell us, then.
Lamachus: Ah, I spoke to them after I sent you. My sincere apologies if that ignorance cost you any... discomfort.
Polytropos : *drips ooze.*
Thracian Merchant: Yeah! What about that new school of fighters? Think they'll be any good?
Kataramene : *looks at Pol and Eleni*
Polytropos : Yeeeeah, aright.
Eleni : *Sighs* I'm not sure if I actually care any more.
Polytropos : Well, job done.
Lamachus: But come, let us not argue. Don't you have a Games to prepare for in the morning?
Cretan Merchant: *shrugs* might be worth a punt of two
Eleni : All I want to do right now is wash up.
Cretan Merchant: or two*
Lamachus: Indeed! And Argos is grateful! I will certainly mention this at the convocation tomorrow.
Polytropos : Hrmm. Well, aright.
Lamachus: It is the eve of the greatest Games Argos has hosted in years! What could possibly go wrong now?
Kataramene : Right. Yes. Bath.
Andreas Appolodorus: Any reward?
Eleni : ...I really wish you hadn't just said that.
Lamachus: Reward? I, ah, will certainly speak to the Council about that.
Kataramene : *pauses and facepalms*
Lamachus: Right away. Right now, in fact.
Andreas Appolodorus: Good.
Egyptian Merchant: The knowledge of the Great Library of Ra-Kedet is now available for all who seek edification.
Telemachus: Edification is good. How much?
Leonidas : *Wanders along behind*
Cretan Merchant: *ears perk up at the mention of reward* Roll up, Roll up, there's finest wears from Crete right here!
Eleni : I'm pretty sure he was lying through his teeth again.
Kataramene : May as well get clean for the end of the city tomorrow.
Kataramene : And yeah, but what can you say?
Eleni : Lots of things, most of them pointless.
Kataramene : Do plenty, if you count the rough stuff.
Andreas Appolodorus: * Andreas walk along the others dripping water all over the place *
Zokos : Wow, this is beautiful!
Eleni : Hm. Used to be ours.
Lazyzeus : You make your way out of the city, along the path to the Arena school. The night arrives on your hike, but it is a clear moonlit night...
Eleni : Well, the city's. But we lost the right to occupy it after that little business with the temple of hera.
Kataramene : It's a nice night.
Eleni : Thankfully, we still had Heropolis.
Polytropos : ... almost home...
Andreas Appolodorus: Open the gate!
Hired Guard : Who goes?
Eleni : We are weary, hungry and filthy!
Kataramene : Open up! *bashes on the gate*
Andreas Appolodorus: The king of the arena.
Large Wooden Door: Locked
Hired Guard: Right. Gotta be careful.
Kataramene : Sensible.
Eleni : Your vigilance is appreciated.
Polytropos : Gbuh.
Polytropos : Muh?
Eleni : Epistor...
Acamas: How did things go?
Kataramene : Bath. Hot water. Now.
Andreas Appolodorus: Epistor, good man, what news?
Epistor: I had thought that... Hmm. Been, ah, "adventuring" again?
Acamas: *smirks* You look.....a little worn
Epistor: The young lads have just retired.
Eleni : I sincerely hope we acn get more than one tub.
Epistor: Acamas says they're ready for tomorrow.
Acamas: *nods*
Acamas: As prepared as I can make them
Eleni : Well. Good to know.
Andreas Appolodorus: You wash up, I'll get some rest.
Epistor: I'll have hot water sent up to the rooms, along with lye cakes and scrapers.
Kataramene : Good. Unfortunately at least one of us is fighting.
Eleni : That sounds like a wonderful idea.
Epistor: Fighting? Is there trouble?
Andreas Appolodorus: Ah
Andreas Appolodorus: Key?
Kataramene : Championing a god.
Eleni : You've not heard of that, then?
Acamas: *cocks an eyebrow* Any you ladies need a hand, I can arrange a helping hand
Epistor: Oh, no, I've been so busy setting up the logistics for the big event.
Polytropos : We've got it covered, thanks, Acamas.
Andreas Appolodorus: What?
Epistor: Haven't had much of a chance to get into town.
Acamas: *nods*
Kataramene : I'm championing Hermes.
Polytropos : *folds arms.*
Epistor: Championing a god? Isn't that the sort of thing that creates, ah, trouble?
Andreas Appolodorus: Ladies can you open the door, please?
Eleni : ...and Zokos is to champion Poseidon.
Epistor: Ah, well, I'm sure you know best.
Andreas Appolodorus: Melina?
Epistor: Come, let's go inside.
Kataramene : Probably, but I've had a lot of practice at that and why let the experience go to waste?
Zokos : So it seems, they will not see reason
Andreas Appolodorus: The door is locked.
Eleni : The notion was proposed and accepted, and refusing the call seems like a poor idea.
Melina: *curtsy*
Polytropos : It'll be fiiine. Hi Melina.
Eleni : *Nods to Melina*
Epistor: Ah, yes, I keep it locked to ensure your privacy. Some of those students, they look a bit shifty.
Melina: I layed on some drinks by the table
Kataramene : *nods vaguely*
Eleni : Did Adelphe and HElene make it here okay?
Polytropos : Be right down!
Zokos : Really? That is wonderful news!
Eleni : Good to hear it. Thanks again, Melina.
Kataramene : Out!
Andreas Appolodorus: What?
Eleni : I hope they'll find themselves at home there.
Polytropos : *an attempt to get the worst o' d' slime off.*
Kataramene : *grumble*
Eleni : But now..
Eleni : *Ngh* They've already hogged the bath, haven't they?
Kataramene : Me and that tub have a long date planned.
Lazyzeus : You bathe, eat, drink, and rest.
Andreas Appolodorus: * rock the chair *
Polytropos : *thumbs up at the servant*
Andreas Appolodorus: Are you hungry Leo?
Leonidas : Enjoys food and drink
Polytropos : Aaaaan.
Leonidas : Almost always
Eleni : Muuuch better.
Kataramene : Food.
Eleni : *Helps herself to some grapes*
Melina: Have you everything you need? I tried to rustle up your favourites
Polytropos : It's great! This has all the makings of a good day.
Eleni : It is all we could have dreamed. Thank you, Meina.
Kataramene : *tucks in heartily*
Melina: *curtsy*
Andreas Appolodorus: Hey get yout own chair!
Zokos : Excellent, my thanks!
Kataramene : I think we did dream of this, once in a while.
Polytropos : Scho! *chomp* Watsch the plan? We haf to ge there early? Hash Acamash already gone?
Melina: *blushes* I have too much work to do
Eleni : A number of times, while we were stuck in Tartarus.
Zokos : There seems to be one chair with a broken leg ;)
Andreas Appolodorus: No reason to take mine.
Andreas Appolodorus: * eat something before drinking wine *
Leonidas : *strums harp*
Eleni : Hm. Not sure.
Eleni : I assume the big contest of champions will be after the games proper.
Kataramene : A relaxing evening and a good night's rest and we will be set.
Andreas Appolodorus: Champions of the Gods?
Zokos : So Kat, what do you want to do about these games?
Eleni : Hm-hm. How will they do a three-way fight, though?
Polytropos : Put three people... in a fight?
Eleni : Perhaps they will simply arrange a melee, I suppose.
Andreas Appolodorus: That sounds interesting.
Kataramene : I thought it would probably be rounds?
Zokos : Perhaps it will be a contest of riddles? Or a foot race? ((smiles))
Andreas Appolodorus: No three way would be amazing.
Epistor: I can fetch Master Acamas, if you wish. He would know.
Kataramene : You know, same as last time, only with a god watching.
Kataramene : Please, Epistor.
Zokos : A boat race would be particularly appropriate!
Eleni : I suppose you could have a sequence of duels in which each gets to fight both others.
Kataramene : We didn't have time to find out today.
Acamas: What's this now? Fighting in the Games and you don't even know the details?
Eleni : We're like that. Get ourselves into all sorts of trouble.
Kataramene : I was going to ask, then there was a case of slime.
Acamas: That's what you get going off on all these adventures when there's big events coming up.
Leonidas : We've never been overly concerned about details.
Zokos : I will only fight if necessary, Poseidon must have a champion.
Kataramene : If the slime had got out then there'd have been no games, but whatever.
Acamas: *laughs* Half the city is talking about you representing ol' Fish-Eyes, master priest.
Acamas: That fat old priest has been telling everyone about how his young champion is going to claim the city for Poseidon!
Eleni : Of course he has.
Kataramene : *purses her lips*
Leonidas : *smiles*
Epistor: Indeed! the city is bubbling with excitment at the prospect of seeing THEIR Heroes in action!
Andreas Appolodorus: I would have helped Hermes out but perhaps it would have been unfair.
Kataramene : Are we fighting apart, or as one of the school with a special role?
Acamas: Your event is going to be at the end of the Games, after the lesser bouts.
Acamas: I expect the lads will do all right, though there's some Corinthian champion who's supposed to be troublesome.
Telemachus : Am I expected to do anything other than watch and drink too much wine?
Acamas: Apparently they're saying he was killed during some rioting there recently, but he was brought back by the priests of Aphrodite.
Andreas Appolodorus: I'll be with you Tel.
Eleni : Hm.
Polytropos : ... Corinth...
Polytropos : ... rioting...
Telemachus : The greatest contest of the day will be which of us can drink more then heh
Epistor: You'll have the ususal no-hoper's as well, Egyptians, Creteans and the like
Polytropos : *you can see the thought bubble over his head, almost.*
Kataramene : Wait a minute....
Acamas: And there's some Spartan runner who's supposed to be good. Here as part of the diplomatic legation.
Polytropos : Eyyy Spartans!
Eleni : That.. sounds familiar as well.
Acamas: Tough as nails, those Spartans.
Kataramene : This isn't one /we/ killed in Corinth is it?
Acamas: Heh, you lot do seem to kill a lot of people, from what I hear.
Telemachus : I don't remember that bit.
Eleni : We had to put down lots of people who were struck with madness.
Eleni : It's possible, I suppose.
Zokos : Is Aphrodite sill unhappy with us?
Andreas Appolodorus: You mean those charmed by the Scions?
Polytropos : Uh...
Kataramene : Yeah ....
Acamas: As for the champions fight, I hear it's to be a melee. Three combatants, last one standing takes it.
Zokos : You'd think the goddess of Love would be a bit more ... kind
Telemachus : Who's the third?
Epistor: All in all, it should make for an interesting day!
Eleni : The priestess of Artemis.
Andreas Appolodorus: They should keep grudge if they are alive and even less so if they remained dead.
Telemachus : Alright well I hope the city likes hermes.
Acamas: Hear she's a pretty good archer. Might want to take her out first.
Andreas Appolodorus: * should NOT
Epistor: Pity there will be a few burials when its all over, but such are the way of these things
Kataramene : *winces*
Telemachus : we can sort that out now can't we?
Polytropos : *looks at Zokos.* Love hurts, man.
Eleni : Hah. I suppose Zokos and you can try to take her out first, then have a proper duel.
Polytropos : That's not fair!
Polytropos : C'mon... do this in the right spirit.
Acamas: Oh, come on, they're not going to let anyone die in a bout of priests.
Zokos : Fair is determined by the rules. What are the rules anyway?
Leonidas : famous last words
Acamas: Well, from what I hear...
Kataramene : *sighs a little*
Acamas: They're waiving the rules about magic in the arena.
Eleni : *Shrugs* It's a melee, though. A proper melee is mostly just chaos.
Acamas: Priest and their spells, heh.
Epistor: Are they? I hadn't heard
Acamas: You need to get out more, old man.
Acamas: You can bet that the Huntress's champion will be loaded down with enhancements.
Kataramene : The Priestess of Hermes had indicated as much.
Epistor: *chuckles* I've been out enough in my life, you young wippersnapper. I like it here indoors
Acamas: *nods toward Zokos* You should find that fat old priest and make him hand over some potions.
Zokos : I'll do that Acamas, good idea
Acamas: *puts his feet up* Anything else?
Eleni : About these rules of magic...
Kataramene : Mmmm.
Eleni : Does that mean enchantments applied before the fight are allowed?
Eleni : Or only during?
Kataramene : That's what the priestess suggested.
Acamas: *shrugs* I'm no mage, or priest. Obviously. *grabs a hunk of bread* You know as well as I do on that matter, mistress.
Epistor: The bar on magic applied to all magiks but it seems they've done away with all that
Acamas: I've gone ahead and set up the schedule for the lesser bouts. I've put Bomani and Pallas in the lead contests, hope you don't mind.
Acamas: Just for the champions fight, old feller.
Epistor: Ah
Kataramene : You know their relative strenghts better than us.
Eleni : It seems like a rather important matter. No offense, Zokos, but I don't think you or the priestess stand much chance against Kat if you need to spend a minute or two strengthening yourself while she pounds you into the ground.
Acamas: Good, that's good. Some owners like to micromanage everything.
Polytropos : Yeah, that's a bad habit.
Zokos : I do not think we stand any chance against Kat regardless...
Acamas: Well, they're probably going to be an invocation, you can cast your spells during that part.
Andreas Appolodorus: Ah her message will be loud and clear.
Polytropos : Now let's talk uniforms.
Acamas: *holds up a cup toward Zokos* Ah, that's the spirit!
Epistor: Acamas is a fine trainer. You'll have no worries about the fighters abilities
Andreas Appolodorus: Hermes will be proud of you Kat.
Kataramene : It'll only take one hit. I've no defense.
Zokos : The only chance is some good old devine intervention, and we've seen that the Gods do that from time to time...
Andreas Appolodorus: Or bored perhaps.
Acamas: Personally I like Hermes, but then again I make a point to never travel by sea.
Acamas: Don't priests have that magic that can freeze a warrior's muscles? Seems like that would be pretty damned useful to have.
Zokos : Poseidon governs more than just the sea, earthquakes are his doing.
Kataramene : It's fitting it should be one of the two. REgardless of my respect for Artemis her priestess was a silly cow. We saw her "place" and it didn't suit a city.
Acamas: Anyone else find it damn creepy about that fellow's eyes? *glances at Andreas*
Telemachus : ... when did that start happening?
Eleni : ...I've sort of stopped finding anything about Andreas particularly strange, but, now that you mention it....
Andreas Appolodorus: What? Mushrooms only mushrooms pay no attention to my eyes.
Leonidas : *strums harp*
Andreas Appolodorus: May be they will revert to normal some day.
Acamas: Well! *reaches over and grabs a pomegranate* If there's no more questions, I've got an early day tomorrow. Think you lot do to, as I recall.
Epistor: *clears throat* Ahem....There is one matter I should bring up. Perhaps a bonus should be paid to the fighters of our school should they be victorious and of course to young Acamas here for training them?
Telemachus : mushrooms made your eys glow purple?
Polytropos : Sounds good to me!
Acamas: Hey now, that's a pleasant notion.
Epistor: Well, I think it's only fair
Eleni : I'm sure we can arrange that.
Andreas Appolodorus: Yeah I think so Tel. What else could it be?
Kataramene : Seems reasonable, yes.
Acamas: *claps Epistor on the shoulder* You're all right, old man.
Polytropos : Let them know that should they win, they'll be showered with fortune.
Polytropos : And also get a bag of money.
Telemachus : I don't know. Did you actually eat any mushrooms? Did you get cursed by something recently?
Epistor: You would do well to heed me *winks*
Acamas: Heh, I'll go and let you decide on the amount. *grins and whistles as he walks off*
Andreas Appolodorus: If it was magic or a curse Eleni or Zokos could have fixed it.
Acamas: *winks at the servant*
Andreas Appolodorus: I always liked mushrooms.
Telemachus : ...... OK
Epistor: I hate to be the one to break up the party, but perhaps you should retire to your rest as well, Masters?
Eleni : ...that does not sound like an awful idea, yes.
Kataramene : Sounds sensible to me.
Leonidas : *has a last drink for the road*
Kataramene : I have armour to clean too.
Epistor: I will see that you are woken early, with a hot breakfast before you head out to the arena. Acamas and the fighters will go over early, of course.
Polytropos : Untilllll tomorrow!
Lazyzeus : You retire for the night...

Lazyzeus : You are in the chambers under the arena. It is oddly silent.

Polytropos : It's been a while.
Polytropos : Wish they'd show it though.
Polytropos : Right, what do we need to do...?
Peleus: They are in the staging room. *holds up an arm, and slowly points to the corridor leading north*
Kataramene : It's quiet. I didn't expect quiet.
Polytropos : Aha.
Polytropos : I remember!
Eleni : These were the chambers the competition used last time.
Eleni : Me and Leo snuck in here.
Polytropos : Good times!
Eleni : It also appears to be locked.
Polytropos : *rattles the door*
Leonidas : So where's the way to the galleries?
Eleni : Aha!
Diocles: I hope this can bring forgivenness for what I've done in the past.
Kataramene : *restless, follows*
Bomani of Memphis: Soon they'll see what I can do, how good I am.
Telemachus : // brb real quick]
Brygos: I'm hungry. I want a sandwich.
Eleni : Win, and you can have all the sandwhiches you want.
Polytropos : *watches them... go?*
Acamas: I get paid either way. *shrugs, and smiles as he vanishes like the others*
Eleni : Um.
Polytropos : Wait a minute.
Kataramene : ... what?
Eleni : Well, that's slightly odd.
Andreas Appolodorus: Go and don't let the crowd distract you.
Polytropos : *waves an arm near where Acamas was.*
Lazyzeus : The warriors just vanished into this air. Odd.
Polytropos : ... where's our people?
Kataramene : What's going on?
Leonidas : hmm
Andreas Appolodorus: Aaaah.
Eleni : Who in Hades are you?
Andreas Appolodorus: Magic?
Morpheus: They are not here. Neither are you.
Polytropos : Hey, have you seen five big men-
Morpheus: This... none of this is real.
Eleni : ...pardon?
Kataramene : I ... what?
Andreas Appolodorus: What do you mean?
Polytropos : What.
Leonidas : eh?
Morpheus: I am Morpheus. Son of Hypnos, ruler of dreams.
Morpheus: Though this is not my dream, and I am not its master.
Zokos : Well met Morpheus, how can we be of assistance?
Eleni : Oh. Wonderful.
Polytropos : *long sigh*
Morpheus: You are here at another's bidding. I am just here to offer you a choice.
Leonidas : So you're saying we're all asleep?
Kataramene : How? *flustered* When?
Eleni : Let me guess. Hera?
Morpheus: The goddess has set these events in motion, but she has set her child Enyo upon you in this fantasy.
Morpheus: *holds out a fist, and opens it to reveal two small colored fruits*
Morpheus: You have a choice.
Polytropos : *narrows eyes.*
Andreas Appolodorus: What is this madness?
Eleni : Enyo... isn't she one of Ares' favourites?
Morpheus: Take the blue fruit and eat it, and you return to your world, your reality.
Morpheus: Yes. She is a goddess of wrath and destruction.
Polytropos : The destroyer of cities.
Morpheus: Yes. And thus the choice.
Eleni : Perfectly pleasant, I'm sure.
Zokos : **whispers to Katarmene** Sorry if this is in any my doing, I did pray for ANY way out of having to fight you....
Morpheus: The blue fruit will spare you and those you care about... but your city, your Argos, will have fire and destruction unleashed upon it.
Kataramene : *shakes her head at Zokos*
Morpheus: Eat the red fruit, and you confront the mistress of this dream, play her game.
Morpheus: You yourselves are not at risk. Other gods protect you.
Polytropos : *clicks his tongue, and looks around him.*
Kataramene : *looks at Pol*
Morpheus: But those close to you may suffer.
Polytropos : *looks at Kat.*
Eleni : Funny sort of choice.
Morpheus: Beat her at her game, however, and you and yours are free of Enyo's power.
Andreas Appolodorus: I see.
Zokos : So another loose loose situation. Seems like there has been a lot of those lately.
Morpheus: I can only offer the choice. I cannot offer more guidance.
Leonidas : hmm
Eleni : Surely she knows which one we'd go for...
Kataramene : The choice is the city of Argos, and all in it, against our own needs?
Polytropos : *spits on the floor.*
Zokos : Yeah, that does not seem like much of a choice. Why would we not choose the Red fruit, and test our strength against that of yet another angry God?
Polytropos : This was supposed to be a good day.
Polytropos : But why not indeed.
Andreas Appolodorus: Is there really a choice here?
Kataramene : *takes his hand* It still is.
Morpheus: Dream well, Heroes of Argos.
Eleni : That does seem to be our thing...
Polytropos : *squeezes hand*
Andreas Appolodorus: Eating both?
Zokos : I think this day has just improved. I"d rather face the Goddes of Fire and Destruction than have to fight Katamarene **smiles honestly at the group**
Polytropos : Haha. Yeah, me too. Let's fight for a good day.
Kataramene : *grins quietly*
Polytropos : Munch away on that red fruit. I don't like blue food anwyay.
Leonidas : I suspect you get the worst of both if you eat both
Andreas Appolodorus: How does it work? We all take abite?
Eleni : One of us will probably do?
Andreas Appolodorus: * a bite
Kataramene : *picks up the red fruit*
Kataramene : We're of one mind?
Zokos : I'll take a bite of that, just to be sure
Eleni : Is there any way we would chose differently?
Leonidas : I'd guess it's an all or nothing choice, as I can't see how it would work otherwise.
Zokos : **accepts the Red fruit, and takes a bite. Then passes it on to the next**
Kataramene : Either she knows us and wants this, or she really didn't know us at all.
Lazyzeus : *To eat the fruit, use its special power.*
Nike : Welcome, Champions.
Eleni : Ah. Lovely.
Zokos : Maybe she just wants to fight? I've met sailors that just want to fight, regardless of outcome.
Polytropos : Woah!
Polytropos : Hey over there!
Zokos : A Goddess of Destruction seems like the kind who would want the fight, regardless of outcome.
Nike : The champions of Argos are here. It is time for the challenge to show herself.
Polytropos : Erk
Enyo : I AM HERE.
Polytropos : ... hello.
Eleni : Yes, we can see that. Would you like some applause?
Enyo : YOU HAVE BEEN SUMMONED HERE TO ANSWER FOR YOUR CITY.
Kataramene : We seem to be here too.
Enyo : GODS SHELTER YOU. YOU ARE BEYOND MY POWER. BUT YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO CHAMPION YOUR CITY IN HIS CONTEST, TO SHELTER IT FROM MY WRATH.
Zokos : ** Zokos boldly states prayers to Poseidon **
Kataramene : It seemed a sensible thing to do, given how many would die the other way.
Polytropos : We are here to face you by choice!
Enyo : WE MUST HAVE A PRIZE, FOR THIS TO BE A VALID CONTEST.
Enyo : *waves a hand*
Polytropos : Hey...
Polytropos : That's our school.
Eleni : *Sighs*
Enyo : *points to her left* THE FIRST ROUND OF PRIZES.
Eleni : You boys couldn't go one match without getting into trouble, could you?
Enyo : THERE CAN BE MORE, IF NEEDED.
Polytropos : *grim look. cricks his neck.*
Enyo : THE RULES OF THE CONTEST ARE SIMPLE. EACH OF YOU WILL FACE ONE OF MY CHAMPIONS. IF YOU WIN, YOU GAIN A PRIZE.
Enyo : IF YOU FAIL, THE PRIZE IS FORFEIT.
Leonidas : Each?
Enyo : SEVEN.
Enyo : SEVEN CONTESTS SHALL THERE BE.
Zokos : Still sounds great to me....
Enyo : *rises up into the air, and floats into the stands on the far side of the arena*
Kataramene : *looks grim too*
Eleni : Hmph.
Enyo : WHO SHALL BE FIRST?
Andreas Appolodorus: I can!
Polytropos : Y-
Polytropos : ... we have a volunteer.
Polytropos : Knock 'em dead, Andreas.
Eleni : Do we not get to hear who will be our first challenger?
Enyo : ANDREAS APPOLODORUS. SO SHALL IT BE.
Telemachus : arena champion, suppose it makes sense
Polytropos : Like, literally.
Polytropos : Knock them. Dead.
Zokos : May you shake the earth and part theseas, Andreas! Good form!
Kataramene : *just nods*
Enyo : I SUMMON FORTH YOUR CHALLENGER!
Enyo : The giant... Antaeus!
Andreas Appolodorus: * Look around *
Kataramene : This isn't stacked against us at all, is it?
Andreas Appolodorus: So?
Polytropos : ... you think?
Polytropos : Woah!
Polytropos : *stars up a stamp-stamp-clap rhythm, in defiance of the situation.*
Eleni : I don't think Andreas feels stacked-against.
Polytropos : An-dre-as! An-dre-as!
Enyo : *frowns*
Polytropos : AN-DRE-AS! AN-DRE-AS!
Enyo : YOU ARE VICTORIOUS.
Leonidas : Hmm
Zokos : **joins the shouts wholeheartedly**
Telemachus : he used his balls like a punching bag.
Kataramene : That's an image I can do without.
Andreas Appolodorus: Too easy.
Polytropos : OH YES.
Enyo : YOU MAY CLAIM A PRIZE...
Telemachus : You just watched it happen!
Andreas Appolodorus: I guess free one of them.
Nike : You have won an honorable victory, warrior. Choose your prize.
Eleni : I think she wants you to be more specific, Andreas.
Andreas Appolodorus: Who first?
Telemachus : *shrug* who have we known longest?
Kataramene : Pallas. He is the most innocent.
Eleni : That sounds fair, yes.
Andreas Appolodorus: I name Acamas.
Eleni : ...or that.
Nike : So it shall be.
Kataramene : *rolls her eyes*
Lazyzeus : *Acamas fades away*
Nike : Honor is yours, warrior.
Polytropos : Woooo!
Kataramene : *looks at Pol*
Enyo : WHO IS NEXT?
Telemachus : who should we send next? there are three more prisoners and 6 more of us..
Polytropos : *smiles at Kat*
Andreas Appolodorus: I smell a trick. Save some of your powers just in case.
Eleni : Yet, we had five gladiators... no?
Polytropos : Good call.
Kataramene : I am thinking the same.
Polytropos : *ahem* I will step into the arena!
Polytropos : *dons his helmet*
Telemachus : I'm guessing if we lose, the loser joins the prisoners..
Kataramene : *nods slowly*
Leonidas : She did say first round of prizes...
Enyo : VERY WELL.
Eleni : Hm.
Polytropos : *holds his sword and shield aloft.*
Polytropos : I am Polytropos! Son of Kledias!
Telemachus : *AOH AOH AOH* (spartan style)
Enyo : I SUMMON FORTH YOUR OPPONENT.
Zokos : **Bangs his bludgeon on his shiled in rhythem**
Enyo : HERO OF TROY. KING OF ITHICA.
Polytropos : ... oh wow.
Eleni : *Raises brow*
Enyo : ODYSSEUS!
Telemachus : ...
Polytropos : That, that's...
Telemachus : well shit..
Kataramene : Hnn...
Polytropos : Interesting.
Eleni : No time to be impressed, Pol!
Polytropos : I just want to say, King Oddysseus, I'm a big fan.
Polytropos : *shelters behind his shueld*
Kataramene : *has a "that's my man" look*
Zokos : **CHEERS**
Telemachus : Hey grab his bow!
Enyo : *grinds her teeth*
Polytropos : Alas, sir, for thou art not so tough without thy wooden horse.
Telemachus : that'd make a good souvineer.
Leonidas : *nods*
Nike : An honorable victory.
Polytropos : *looks up at Enyo.*
Telemachus : *chuckles*
Eleni : Hm.
Nike : Choose your prize.
Polytropos : *points two fingers at his eyes, and then one at Enyo.*
Kataramene : *grins*
Polytropos : I choose Pallas. The reasoning before was sound.
Nike : So let it be.
Polytropos : *pulls off his helmet, and breathes out.*
Telemachus : let some of our less suiting members go next..
Enyo : THAT WAS JUST THE WARM-UP! WHO'S NEXT?
Zokos : **asside to the group** I have made my peace, and I will gladly fight at anypoint you say. I leave the strategy to those more experienced with the arenas.
Kataramene : *looks around* Me next?
Telemachus : we should save something for the next round..
Polytropos : I'm betting that wasn't the 'real' Odysseus.
Eleni : *Ahem* And who would our less suiting members be?
Leonidas : *smiles*
Zokos : I can go, or you
Kataramene : Somehow, I don't think it's you.
Telemachus : those of us who didnt spend our entire childhood fighting people in armour with swords.
Zokos : **Raises hand and smiles to Eleni**
Polytropos : You know, I'm getting the feeling our opposition was hand picked.
Kataramene : Still don't think it's Eleni.
Eleni : I find swords to be highly overrated.
Polytropos : I don't think it'll matter which order we go in.
Andreas Appolodorus: Ready Eleni?
Eleni : But yes, it does seem each opponent is tailored to one of us.
Telemachus : I'm still waiting for the trick in the next round.
Kataramene : In that case. I'll go next.
Telemachus : *gives here an "i wish you wouldn't" look*
Polytropos : *beams*
Eleni : Tis done.
Polytropos : Gettem!
Polytropos : *stomp stomp clap, stomp stomp clap*
Enyo : VERY WELL. YOUR OPPONENT...
Enyo : SLAYER OF THE GORGON. VANQUISHER OF THE KRAKEN. TAMER OF PEGASUS.
Polytropos : Woooah.
Enyo : THE KING. THE HERO. PERSEUS!
Kataramene : *stretches her neck and rolls her shoulders*
Andreas Appolodorus: Ah ah.
Polytropos : Perseus the great...
Polytropos : ... get him, Kat!
Kataramene : A shame. I would have liked to compare notes.
Polytropos : Stabby! more stabby!
Polytropos : YES!
Kataramene : *does the same*
Eleni : Ngh. That was quite brutal
Zokos : **CHEERS AND BANGS SHIELD**
Leonidas : *strums harp*
Nike : A decisive victory, fought with honor.
Nike : Choose your prize.
Kataramene : *bows before Nike*
Polytropos : *punches the air*
Kataramene : *looks between the two*
Telemachus : You up for the next one Leo?
Kataramene : Diocles. He needs a chance to redeem himself in this life.
Nike : So shall it be.
Leonidas : Sure I guess
Telemachus : Go for it.
Polytropos : *swoops in to give Kat a big hug.*
Kataramene : *hugs back*
Andreas Appolodorus: Go Leonidas!
Enyo : YOUR FOE TRAVELED TO THE UNDERWORLD TO RECOVER HIS LOVE.
Enyo : THE SPIRITS OF SONG COME AT HIS CALL.
Enyo : ORPHEUS, I SUMMON YOU!
Eleni : As I thought...
Polytropos : They're bringing out the big... uh, harps.
Eleni : They definitely chose our matches.
Telemachus : who wants to take bets that I'm fighting heracles?
Kataramene : We fight heroes of legend.
Telemachus : anyone?
Eleni : That might be somewhat unfair.
Polytropos : ... uhoh.
Polytropos : Ow!
Polytropos : I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING.
Andreas Appolodorus: Oh
Eleni : Oh, dear.
Kataramene : *blinks and shakes her head*
Polytropos : OH MAN. RUN LEO RUN
Telemachus : think he's stunned.
Andreas Appolodorus: Wake Up!
Eleni : He's been paralyzed.
Orpheus: *sings* one eve so fair, I viewed the still waters and take the salt air....
Telemachus : SNAP OUT OF IT LEO
Polytropos : *stomp stomp clap! stomp stomp clap!*
Zokos : You can do it Leo!
Polytropos : Shoot the guy while he's serenading Tel!
Telemachus : HEY FUCK YOU ORPHEUS IF YOU HAD A SWORD INSTEAD OF A HARP YOUD STILL HAVE A GIRLFRIEND
Polytropos : ... man, Orpheus had an awesome voice.
Zokos : **CHEERS AND BANGS SHIELD**
Polytropos : But. LEOOO!
Kataramene : He sounded quite dreamy.
Andreas Appolodorus: Ah all right.
Nike : You have won a glorious victory.
Leonidas : *bows*
Nike : You may choose a prize, if you wish.
Leonidas : I guess I'll take the last guy.
Kataramene : Wait a minute. Can we choose something that is not shown?
Eleni : Hah. Poor Bomani.
Nike : So shall it be.
Leonidas : Unless there's another option?
Telemachus : Don't give him ideas Kat.
Kataramene : No, no. I mean, can we choose something to end this?
Telemachus : I doubt they're gonna go for that.
Enyo : *a sinister look crosses her face* IT SEEMS WE NEED MORE PRIZES.
Kataramene : Why not?
Eleni : I expect they will introduce reasons for the rest of us to... ah, yes. See?
Enyo : *raises her hand, and shakes them violently in the air*
Polytropos : Aiaiaiaiai!
Telemachus : They're not stupid, and they want to torture us.
Polytropos : Melinaa!
Telemachus : I suspected as much..
Polytropos : HEY!
Eleni : Now /that's/ just unfair. They have even less to do with all of this...
Enyo : THE STAKES HAVE BEEN RAISED. WHO IS NEXT?
Polytropos : You mess with our staff, you mess with us!
Leonidas : Seems hardly a contest when the other side doesn't risk anything.
Kataramene : Doesn't it just.
Eleni : True. The only things they stand to lose is things they have taken from us.
Enyo : YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE YOU DESTROYED A TEMPLE OF HERA!
Telemachus : Technically we only killed a few of the priests.
Telemachus : and that was AFTER they started trying to kill us.
Kataramene : She should have thought of that before she stole a family for revenge.
Eleni : We did try to reason with them.
Leonidas : Perhaps if you didn't have corrupt priest the temple would still be intact?
Eleni : Alas.
Enyo : CHOOSE! OR FORFEIT!
Polytropos : *whisper* I don't think she's buying it.
Telemachus : Zokos?
Eleni : Hmph.
Telemachus : Ready?
Zokos : I will fight!
Kataramene : *snorts*
Andreas Appolodorus: * look at the "city" *
Telemachus : Atta boy.
Polytropos : Go for it, Zokos!
Enyo : YOUR OPPONENT WAS CURSED BY THE GODS FOR HER PRIDE.
Enyo : NOW SHE LIVES A TORMENTED EXISTENCE.
Polytropos : ... oh no.
Zokos : Recites a prayer for the coming storms
Polytropos : Oh nooooo...
Enyo : ARACHNAE, I SUMMON YOU!
Polytropos : *leans back instinctively.*
Kataramene : Ouch.
Polytropos : Euuuugh!
Eleni : You can outlast her, Zokos!
Kataramene : That's unpleasant.
Polytropos : ... tell me how it goes, I don't want to look - oh gods, how it scuttles.
Polytropos : Is he winning?
Eleni : Quite handily.
Polytropos : Make it fast, Zokos!
Andreas Appolodorus: Well done!
Polytropos : *shudders at the sounds.*
Kataramene : It's gone.
Leonidas : Nice
Polytropos : It is?
Nike : You have won a great victory.
Kataramene : Seriously. It's only a spider.
Nike : You may choose a prize.
Polytropos : ... well done, Zokos!
Polytropos : A giant woman spider!
Telemachus : it was a half spider half woman thing the size of an oxen!
Eleni : Best not to remind Pol of that.
Polytropos : I can't imagine anything more terrible. Even meeting your mother.
Kataramene : What's wrong with my mother?!
Nike : Choose, champion.
Polytropos : *pause.*
Telemachus : you want to go next Eleni, or shall I?
Zokos : Who should I choose?
Polytropos : ... no... thing, and that's my point.
Telemachus : Epistor
Zokos : I choose Epistor
Nike : So shall it be.
Andreas Appolodorus: Epistor.
Eleni : If you do wind up facing Hercules, I suppose that would be a proper finale.
Eleni : Let's see who they have for me.
Kataramene : *narrow eyes stare*
Enyo : GAH, NO!
Enyo : WHO'S NEXT!
Eleni : I am!
Polytropos : Make this arena a smouldering crater, Eleni.
Telemachus : not while we're standing in it..
Kataramene : Leave Tel a bit of ground to stand on for his.
Enyo : YOUR OPPONENT WAS THE ADVERSARY OF THE WANDERER.
Polytropos : *avoids Kat's eyes, starting up the stamp stamp clap thing again.*
Enyo : TELLER OF LIES, SHAPER OF SHAPES.
Polytropos : ... oh.
Polytropos : It can only be-
Kataramene : *gives up the glare to look*
Enyo : I SUMMON YOU, CIRCE!
Polytropos : The witch of the sea!
Andreas Appolodorus: Oh.
Telemachus : She busy?
Kataramene : If she's got sense.
Kataramene : See?
Polytropos : HO-ly.
Eleni : ...well, that was dissapointing.
Andreas Appolodorus: Woooo
Telemachus : anihilaaated
Enyo : WHAT? UNFAIR!
Eleni : *Ahem*
Kataramene : Whoever said we fought fair?
Nike : You have overpowered your opponent, champion.
Telemachus : FAIR??!
Zokos : That was perfectly fair!
Nike : Select your prize.
Polytropos : Wooooo!
Polytropos : We have a new Goddess of Destruction!
Zokos : **CHEERS AND BANGS SHIELD**
Telemachus : I don't think I'll be topping that unfortunatly.
Eleni : I wish for the freedom of Melina.
Nike : So shall it be.
Polytropos : ... actually I might have gone a bit far with that one.
Kataramene : I did say she should go last.
Telemachus : I gave her the choice!
Enyo : WE STILL HAVE ONE MORE, THEN.
Telemachus : Lets have it!
Kataramene : Whatever.
Telemachus : You gonna fioght me yourself?
Eleni : I'm sure you'll make it good, Tel. *Grins*
Enyo : FOR YOU, ANOTHER HERO OF TROY.
Polytropos : Ooohhh...
Enyo : WARRIOR OF FAME AND SKILL AND STRENGTH.
Eleni : Ah. Achilles, then, perhaps?
Kataramene : ... Achilles?
Andreas Appolodorus: Who? Achilles?
Polytropos : Ajax!
Polytropos : Or it might be Achilles!
Eleni : If so, go for the heels.
Enyo : SON OF THETIS... CHAMPION ETERNAL...
Polytropos : You know, I've often thought people overlook Diomedes, but...
Polytropos : Oh, it is!
Polytropos : It IS!
Enyo : ACHILLES, I SUMMON YOU!
Polytropos : *runs to the balcony to see*
Eleni : Don't start rooting for the other guy, now.
Polytropos : Oh come on, if there was evern an Other Guy to root for
Eleni : Ow.
Polytropos : He's the greatest-
Kataramene : That axe.
Andreas Appolodorus: Hm.
Eleni : That looked almost as painful as what I did to Circe.
Polytropos : OhwaitTelcuthimintwo.
Zokos : **CHEERS AND BANGS SHIELD**
Telemachus : I herd that!
Nike : A final victory for the Heroes of Argos.
Polytropos : Er, yaaay Tel
Kataramene : Not as fast, though.
Nike : Your prize... *waves at Brygos*
Telemachus : *bows to nike* big fan.
Zokos : **asside to the group** On your guard
Kataramene : Mmm....
Enyo : THAT'S ALL I NEED FROM YOU, GODDESS! *waves her hand angrily*
Kataramene : She's not been known to take defeat graciously yet.
Eleni : *Tsk*
Eleni : Somebody's a sore loser.
Polytropos : ACK!
Enyo : NOTHING IS OVER! UNTIL I SAY IT IS OVER!
Andreas Appolodorus: Well.
Kataramene : see?
Enyo : I WILL SEE YOU BLEED!
Polytropos : ... Let us go, Goddess of Destruction! What more is there?
Andreas Appolodorus: We need an exit.
Telemachus : well you're running out of ghosts to send at us.
Spectator : *Howls of Boos and Hisses*
Enyo : SO? YOU WANT A REAL CHALLENGE? *hops down into the arena*
Polytropos : Uhoh.
Kataramene : Miserable bitch.
Polytropos : *pant pant pant... goes down on one knee.*
Eleni : I thought you said something about a real challenge...?
Telemachus : ... how do we get back?
Polytropos : DOEs... DOES ANYONE IN THE AUDIENCE KNOW WHERE THE EXIT IT...?
Andreas Appolodorus: Shall we?
Kataramene : *raises sword again*
Polytropos : ... oh.
Achilles: That was pretty impressive, all around.
Telemachus : hey it's achillies.
Polytropos : Hang on.
Achilles: Hold! I mean no harm.
Eleni : Why, thank you. Morpheus.
Telemachus : Wasn't too worried.
Polytropos : Were you all holding back a bit?
Polytropos : Oh, wait.
Morpheus: You've done well.
Polytropos : How did you know it was...
Polytropos : Er, thank you.
Eleni : *Grins* Pretty obvious, isn't it?
Polytropos : ...
Morpheus: Enyo will not be able to harm you again.
Polytropos : ... no...
Kataramene : Yes, thank you.
Polytropos : Oh, good!
Kataramene : Hera, though?
Morpheus: All of your friends are safe, they will wake in their beds with no memory of this.
Eleni : She won't stop trying, I'm sure.
Morpheus: Hera is beyond my power.
Kataramene : Who next will be asked to pay for us?
Morpheus: She will not be able to come at you again in your dreams, however.
Eleni : I suppose that is something, at least.
Morpheus: Honor in your victory. You have earned it.
Polytropos : *slowly beams*
Kataramene : I am beginning to think we should lose.
Telemachus : lose what?
Andreas Appolodorus: To what end?
Kataramene : So that she will leave those who know us alone.
Telemachus : That would involve us being dead though
Polytropos : ... guh!
Polytropos : *looks at Kat.*
Kataramene : *hugs him*
Polytropos : *hugs her back, releived.*
Polytropos : Did you...
Telemachus : Really now! Can't even get a rest while we're asleep?!
Kataramene : *nods* We all did, I guess.
Servant: Good morning, breakfast awaits below
Polytropos : *squeeze-hug* We did good.
Kataramene : But how long can we keep doing it?
Telemachus : huh..
Lazyzeus : You find something unexpected propped up beside the stairs.
Polytropos : Let's go see if the others remember it.
Andreas Appolodorus: See this shield?
Kataramene : *nods a little and releases hug*
Polytropos : *leads by hand*
Telemachus : that's Achillies shield.
Eleni : My. How thoughtful.
Polytropos : Woooow...
Telemachus : Oh ye gods they wear matching pyjamas.
Andreas Appolodorus: Is that for Tel?
Polytropos : what?
Telemachus : I think I'm going to be sick.
Polytropos : No we DON'T.
Polytropos : Hey!
Kataramene : Shut up!
Eleni : I think Tel has pretty much given up on shields at this point... also, hey! They kind of do.
Eleni : How cute.
Polytropos : *folds his arms.*
Eleni : *Grin*
Kataramene : These are /not/ py.... *glare*
Polytropos : This is a Chamlys.
Andreas Appolodorus: So Kat?
Polytropos : What? Oh! Yes!
Telemachus : You gotta have two hands to swing this axe.
Polytropos : Take it take it!
Andreas Appolodorus: Or we just hang it?
Telemachus : I kind of miss not being stabbed so much.
Eleni : Or one really, really big hand, I suppose.
Polytropos : We can hang it but we have to take it in today.
Kataramene : The... oh. *spots the shield*
Andreas Appolodorus: In where?
Telemachus : well if you can magically make me big enough to do that, go for it.
Polytropos : To the Arena!
Telemachus : Otherwise, it aint happening.
Kataramene : The /real/ arena.
Kataramene : *hefts the shield*
Eleni : I /have/ been holding on to that Titan's draught.
Andreas Appolodorus: The shield look very real.
Eleni : But that might have some side-effects.
Polytropos : It suits you.
Kataramene : Sword and shield of the forger.
Telemachus : I have been tempted.
Zokos : That shield does indeed suit you, Kat
Eleni : Hm, yes. I assume Morpheus left it here, though I have to wonder how he got his hands on it...
Kataramene : I am going to get our of my /not/ pyjamas and into my /definitely/ armour.
Polytropos : Me too.
Eleni : You go do that!
Polytropos : We will!
Zokos : I guess I shoudl do the same
Eleni : Indeed. Let's go check up on our stable, shall we?
Leonidas : I'll be glad to just be a spectator this time, thanks.
Kataramene : An omen, maybe?
Telemachus : Heeey everyone.. all good?
Polytropos : Maybe; just maybe.
Epistor: I had the oddest dream. You were all there, and there was fighting, and gods, and heroes out of story.
Eleni : Indeed we have. Some interesting dreams aside.
Telemachus : sleep well? not feeling at all uh stiff or anything?
Polytropos : Ooo, you could offer your old shield as a prize.
Epistor: Why no, though the old bones do seize up now and again, ha ha.
Melina: *waves to the dishes on the tables* Help yourselves please?
Zokos : Epistor! How goes?
Telemachus : so much for not remembering..
Kataramene : Oh yes. Good idea.
Eleni : Thank you, Melina.
Epistor: All is well!
Polytropos : Nono, you offer it!
Polytropos : *helps tighten a strap.* Come on!
Epistor: The students are all arranged outside. They are ready to head over to the arena, but Acamas wondered if you wanted to say some inspiring words first.
Kataramene : Let's go.
Andreas Appolodorus: Sure.
Melina: Hope everything goes well today *looks anxious*
Zokos : Absolutely
Eleni : *Grabs herself some breakfast for the road*
Polytropos : Onward!
Acamas: Okay, boys, listen up!
Kataramene : A word before we go.
Acamas: Your sponsors have some words to say.
Lazyzeus : *cracks his knuckles*
Bomani of Memphis: *looks a little tense*
Brygos: Ugly face.
Leonidas : Don't lose.
Andreas Appolodorus: I just want to say one thing...
Kataramene : Indeed, and one that many a foe across the breadth of the mortal and immortal realms has faced and regretted.
Lazyzeus : *fidgets with a strap from his armor*
Pallas: *keeps balling one of his hands into and out of a fist*
Andreas Appolodorus: Fight with honor, give all you got and don't get distracted by the crowd or your opponent.
Andreas Appolodorus: Good luck.
Andreas Appolodorus: Who's next?
Polytropos : *clears throat.*
Kataramene : This shield was won with valour, and it's fitting it goes to the most vallorous among you. A prize, one befitting /our/ champion.
Polytropos : For every and each one of you, there's coin, and gems too should you win the day, and this magnificent shield for the greatest!
Polytropos : But more than that. There's glory. Tehre's immortality!
Polytropos : Go out there and take it. It's yours!
Pallas: *looks at the shield with a gleam in his eye*
Andreas Appolodorus: Well said.
Brygos: Acamas said we could have a roasted lamb if we won.
Polytropos : EVEN THAT!
Student Warrior: If we win coin, you can buy a lamb, you idiot.
Acamas: Right! Time to get moving you lot. We've got to geto the arena early to get ready.
Kataramene : We could all live with a little kleftiko.
Eleni : *Chuckles*
Kataramene : Acamas, hold the shield for the winner.
Acamas: Right. we'll see you there, and hopefully I'll have earned the money you've been paying me.
Polytropos : That WOULD be a thing.
Eleni : I'm sure they'll do well.
Epistor: Best of luck everyone
Andreas Appolodorus: Hm what's with Diocles?
Polytropos : No time for archery practice, man! Let';s go!
Polytropos : To Argooos!
Kataramene : *off to the city*
Lazyzeus : You make your way to Argos, where there is a bustle of excitement focused on the arena.
Eleni : *Down that old familiar road again...*
Andreas Appolodorus: Did someone bring the wine?
Eleni : I'm sure there will be wine, Andreas.
Leonidas : Always
Polytropos : Sure to be, but... aha.
Andreas Appolodorus: Salutations.
Kataramene : Should those of us championing a cause wait in the gladiator's quarters?
Andreas Appolodorus: That would be wise.
Lazyzeus : You arrive to catch the last of the morning fights; the priests' challenge will happen later in the afternoon.
Polytropos : Who's a-fightin'?
Kataramene : Zokos and I. Though if it's late in the day, there's time to watch a while.
Peleus: Your students did well in the preliminary matches. There's three finals yet to come; you should go in if you want to cheer them on.
Eleni : Sounds good.
Peleus: The priests' challenge will take place after the luncheon break.
Kataramene : *nods*
Polytropos : Ooo, luncheon.
Polytropos : Thanks, Peleus!
Lamachus : Ladies and gentlemen! The Heroes of Argos!
Zokos : After you Kat
Polytropos : *waves to the crowd*
Lazyzeus : There is a wave of applause as you enter the arena.
Eleni : *Theatrical bow at their introduction*
Telemachus : *holds up a hand in greeting*
Leonidas : *waves*
Polytropos : Thank you, thank you!
Polytropos : A fine thing to be a champion of this great city!
Lamachus : Now it is time for the three finals from the morning session. The three champions of the Heroes's School, against the three best from outside our city!
Polytropos : *cheeeeer*
Kataramene : *smiles proudly in a patron like manner, and waves a hand*
Lamachus : The wanderer of Thebes... the mercenary brawler, skilled at every weapon, I give you... Crino!
Zokos : **pounds his bludgeon on his shield & smiles**
Lamachus : And from our local school... he's big, he's slow, he's strong, the brawler, Brygos!
Polytropos : Wooooo!
Eleni : Sounds like a match.
Kataramene : *takes a seat to watch*
Brygos: I here. Where man I break?
Eleni : Please don't attack the priest, please don't attack the priest....
Zokos : *chuckles at Eleni**
Brygos : I fight good! Get lamb to eat!
Kataramene : Bless him.
Polytropos : He's good, brave and cheap.
Polytropos : ...wrong match, Pallas...
Crino : Ready to dance, big guy?
Polytropos : Brygos! That's him! That's the man!
Eleni : He's eager, I'll give him that.
Telemachus : BASH THE GUY WITH THE FORK
Brygos : Me not dance, me smash you!
Kataramene : And straightforward.
Telemachus : SWEEP THE LEG
Brygos : Grrraaah!
Kataramene : .. and clumsy.
Polytropos : A knee!
Polytropos : Hit a knee!
Brygos : Stop moving so much!
Polytropos : That's it!
Andreas Appolodorus: Yes
Telemachus : yeeeah!
Brygos : Ha! Me step on you head!
Telemachus : BOO LOOK AT HIM RUIN AWAY
Brygos : Me want lamb shank!
Zokos : **Cheers and bangs shield**
Brygos : Me win!
Telemachus : Wooo!
Kataramene : Close fight. That one is fast, but not quite fast enough.
Polytropos : Never get between that man and his dinner.
Leonidas : *strums harp*
Andreas Appolodorus: That was very close.
Brygos :
Eleni : ...hope that man's okay.
Polytropos : He's not okay.
Brygos : Me best fighter, of me and that guy!
Polytropos : He's really, really not okay.
Polytropos : Wooooo!
Priest of Hermes : *helps up the injured combatant*
Kataramene : He'll live to try again. Maybe he'd like an offer of training?
Brygos: Yay!
Priest of Hermes: Um... you're supposed to go down now.
Kataramene : *applauds Brygo*
Priest of Hermes: Um, no, this way.
Eleni : Follow the nice man with the staff, Byrgos.
Lamachus : Our next bout!
Kataramene : Maybe he should eat the lamb brains.
Lamachus : From distant Sparta, the warrior runner, Pheidippides!
Lamachus : And from our local Heroes' School, coming all the way from Egypt, Bomani of Memphis!
Polytropos : ... I'm not sure who to root for!
Bomani of Memphis: I've never beaten up a Spartan before.
Telemachus : FORK HIM UP BOMANI
Bomani of Memphis: *holds up his trident in salute*
Bomani of Memphis : Right then!
Andreas Appolodorus: Go Sparta!
Pheidippides: *crinks his neck from side to side*
Kataramene : My mother said something once.
Eleni : Wasting no time, I see.
Bomani of Memphis: Stings like a bug!
Andreas Appolodorus: Wo
Polytropos : There's nothing wrong with your moth- er, what did she say?
Andreas Appolodorus: Hm.
Bomani of Memphis: Ha! Proven!
Polytropos : Ow, he turned out to be pretty good.
Eleni : Well done, indeed.
Lazyzeus : The priests help the fallen Spartan out of the arena.
Zokos : Wow, well done!
Telemachus : preeetty much outclassed there.
Andreas Appolodorus: Well done.
Telemachus : Well fought Bomani!
Eleni : *Smiles* Still has that ego, though...
Kataramene : She said that only spartan women could bear spartans, or something. Now I think it had a deeper meaning than I thought then.
Lamachus : Another victory for Argos!
Lamachus : And now for our final bout of the morning session!
Polytropos : *finds her hand, and holds it.*
Lamachus : First, the local challenger, Pallas, of the Heroes's School!
Telemachus : Pallas! Pallas!
Andreas Appolodorus: Yes.
Polytropos : He found the arena! So far, so good.
Lamachus : And from Corinth, the champion of their arena fourteen Games running.
Polytropos : Uhoh.
Eleni : Show us what you can do!
Lamachus : he claims the name of a hero of old...
Telemachus : hm.
Lamachus : Bellapheron!
Polytropos : Aw c'moooon!
Kataramene : Oh dear. And I hoped he'd go through. No one has tried harder.
Telemachus : Hah he picked a crap one!
Pallas : I'll do my best! *waves*
Telemachus : You'll DESTROY him!
Bellerophon: *salutes with shield and sword*
Polytropos : Take out this old man, Pallas!
Eleni : ...that one looks familiar.
Andreas Appolodorus: This is going to be ugly.
Pallas : Um... it's really nice to...
Pallas : Ah!
Kataramene : ...
Kataramene : *winces sympathetically*
Polytropos : Considering he's fighting a pro, not bad,.
Eleni : *Wince*
Kataramene : Getting hits in, but not enough. *winces again*
Polytropos : Bellerophon's going to feel that in the owwww.
Bellerophon: *holds the axe aloft*
Eleni : I think it's fair to say he had the toughest matchup.
Andreas Appolodorus: Yes it could have been worse.
Telemachus : damn. he did ok... maybe we should have given him the shield *first*
Pallas : Uhh... is it over? Did I win?
Leonidas : *laughs*
Kataramene : *applauds* The only loser iws the one who never tries, Pallas. Well done.
Telemachus : Pallas really isnt lucky with his arena match ups is he?
Eleni : Seems not, no.
Lamachus : Three honorable matches, to honor the gods and our city!
Andreas Appolodorus: Let us go eat.
Leonidas : great idea

Re: Leonaidas' Journal

Lazyzeus : You return to the arena after a hearty lunch. The crowd has begun to gather again for the highlight of the day: the priests' challenge. Eleni begs off, claiming an important errand, and at the last minute Zokos decides that he cannot step in as champion; he goes to tell the senior priest of Poseidon, leaving the group.

Polytropos : I've missed city food!
Kataramene : Can't delay much longer if I am to prepare.
Kataramene : *didn't eat much*
Priestess of Hermes: Ah, there you are!
Andreas Appolodorus: I only had one boar.
Leonidas : Let's see the show
Priestess of Hermes: I was beginning to think you wouldn't come!
Kataramene : I was just about to try and find you, we were watching from the seats.
Priestess of Hermes: An interesting set of bouts this morning. Your students did very well.
Priestess of Hermes: I understand that your companion opted out?
Andreas Appolodorus: He is sick.
Leonidas : *shrugs*
Priestess of Hermes: That old priest of Poseidon has been in the arena praying almost since the morning session ended. I don't think he'll give you much of a challenge.
Andreas Appolodorus: He is not the coward type.
Kataramene : It seems so. IT's hard for him to separate the will to care for our well being and the thought of fighting us.
Priestess of Hermes: But watch out for that priestess of Artemis, she's tricky.
Polytropos : Rumours of something put in his food are totally unfounded.
Priestess of Hermes: Come with me, champion, I'll do what I can to help prepare you.
Polytropos : Good luck, my love.
Leonidas : *smiles*
Polytropos : We'll be cheering.
Kataramene : *gives Pol a possibly tense smile*
Andreas Appolodorus: Good luck and may the Gods be with you.
Kataramene : It will keep me staedy.
Myrtis: Ready to go below?
Kataramene : *nods a little* Lead the way.
Priestess of Hermes: Our champion is ready. I will accompany her to help prepare.
Myrtis: Very well.
Andreas Appolodorus: So be it then.
Polytropos : Heh heh. Oh well...
Leonidas : *strums harp*
Kataramene : *nods at Peleus*
Andreas Appolodorus: Leo I was worried when you were in the arena, seeing you frozen in time I feared the worse for you.
Andreas Appolodorus: In the dream I mean.
Leonidas : Ah well, it worked fine in the end.
Kataramene : *nods at the priestess*
Kataramene : *frowns a little*
Kataramene : Thank you, though the armour encourages me on even in the extremes of danger.
Acamas: Oh, hey, there you are.
Acamas: I sent the boys home, but I didn't want to miss this one.
Andreas Appolodorus: Need something?
Acamas: Nope. Just curious.
Andreas Appolodorus: Ah well then take a seat.
Acamas: I know you guys are good, but I haven't seen you fight.
Kataramene : Still, it is easy for her to attempt to slow me down.
Lamachus : Citizens of Argos!
Lamachus : We have come here today to witness a challenge sponsored by the gods above!
Lamachus : To see which of the divine ones shall become the new patron of our fair city!
Kataramene : *lifts her head as announcement comes through the doors*
Lamachus : We have three parties contesting today!
Lamachus : The champion of Poseidon... the priest Zokos!
Lamachus : Ah, no, there is a correction... another priest is standing in for Poseidon today.
Kataramene : *takes a breath and nods*
Lamachus : For Artemis, the... *aside* That's her name? Okay... *raises voice* The Huntress!
Andreas Appolodorus: The Huntress?
Polytropos : ... yaaay...
Kataramene : *brow creases in a puzzled frown and heads to the door*
Lamachus : And representing Hermes... our local champion... a Hero of Argos... Kataramene!
Polytropos : Yaaaaaaaaaay!
Andreas Appolodorus: Did we meet the Huntress in our travels?
Leonidas : Yeah
Lamachus : Now, this contest is sponsored by the gods... let their chosen champion prove victorious. The temples have all agreed that any who suffer grievous injury will be restored after the contest.
Kataramene : *bows her head to the crowd and clasps her sword to her breast in salute*
Priest of Poseidon : *keeps praying, seems hardly aware of what's going on*
Priestess of Artemis : *bows to Nike and turns to her opponent* You think you can defeat me? heh! My God is Greater than yours! Bend your knee in obedinence before its too late!
Kataramene : *shakes her head* The beasts belong in the forest, and you there to care for them, not the city.
Andreas Appolodorus: I would be more worried about a high priest than a girl with a big bow.
Priestess of Artemis : *wry smile*
Telemachus : I don't know.. he looks pretty old. and he's just sitting there on the floor. he doesnt even have armour or a sword.
Polytropos : What is that old man doing...?
Kataramene : I admire Artemis beyond what you know, but the city has different needs. I .. have reason to believe she is unlikely to be drawn to here.
Leonidas : I dunno, I wouldn't put anything past the gods or goddesses.
Priestess of Artemis : Well, that's why we are here....we shall soon see
Kataramene : *glances at the priest and frowns*
Lamachus : Begin!
Andreas Appolodorus: Ah magic first.
Andreas Appolodorus: Ouch.
Polytropos : You got her!
Telemachus : HIT THE OLD GUY
Kataramene : What is happening?!
Priest of Hermes : They're... they're out of control!
Telemachus : They attacked the priest!?
Andreas Appolodorus: Need help?
Polytropos : She';s got this, she'as gpt this... wooo!
Telemachus : I don't think posidon was too happy with his priest...
Kataramene : *pants a little wiping water from her face*
Priest of Hermes: *looks down at the dead priest* He tried a summoning that was beyond his power.
Andreas Appolodorus: She's all wet.
Kataramene : Poor fellow. Was his god displeased?
Lamachus : The gods have shown their favor! Hermes is the new patron god of Argos!
Andreas Appolodorus: Well done.
Leonidas : Hmm
Polytropos : Hail, Hermes!
Kataramene : *looks over somewhat sadly at the priestess of Artemis*
Lazyzeus : *the crowd, a bit soaked, applauds*
Telemachus : /// first four rows WILL get wet.
Priest of Hermes: Per the terms of our agreement, the losers will be raised... assuming their gods permit their return.
Kataramene : *a little belatedly holds her sword and shield aloft and smiles, proudly*
Priest of Hermes: Well done. I am of course required to be unbiased... but I am glad the proper contestant won.
Kataramene : It's best for the city.
Polytropos : Wooooo!
Kataramene : *throws a grin up at Pol*
Lamachus : Citizens of Argos! The Games are concluded! For the honor of our city, thank you for coming today!
Polytropos : *enthusiastic wave*
Acamas: Well. That wasn't your usual fight, I suppose.
Kataramene : *waves her sword and again salutes Nike*
Acamas: I understand you're throwing a feast tonight?
Priest of Hermes: Come, let's take you back out.
Polytropos : Sure, let's do that!
Kataramene : Thank you.
Leonidas : Always up for a feast.
Acamas: That was truly wonderful *slow clap*
Kataramene : *nods at the priestess* I was blessed, and the gods decided. I hope they were watching enough to bring their chosen back.
Acamas: It nearly made my eyes all teary
Kataramene : You are welcome.
Acamas: I guess none of us have actually seen any of you fight, toe-to-toe with anyone so to speak before
Acamas: You know, stories can only tell so much
Kataramene : What is good for the arena is good for the city. We hope to have a good show for you then too.
Acamas: Looking forward to it
Acamas: When we get back, perhaps an after fight chat with the school might be in order?
Leonidas : *strums harp*
Kataramene : *nods as the two descend*
Acamas: *bows* Good day Myrtis
Telemachus : well fought Kat.
Myrtis: Good day. Thank you again for a good show, and see you next month!
Kataramene : Thanks, but I think the gods made that decision for us.
Polytropos : *big hug!*
Kataramene : *moves to hug Pol happily*
Acamas: What next my Lords and Ladies?
Polytropos : Awwww... don't sell yourself short!
Leonidas : I heard someone say something about a feast.
Kataramene : *grins at him, pride in her face despite the words*
Acamas: Let's head to the High city then
Acamas: This way
Kataramene : Feast is good.
Telemachus : Someone get Kat a towel
Lazyzeus : ooc Forgot to give XP earlier.
Kataramene : Dry would also be good, yes.
Youth: Ha, friend, this isn't Median cloth. I know from experience, let's say.
Telemachus : heh. not many fights leave you looking like you've been for a swim
Cretan Merchant: Welcome to Knossos. Can I interest you in my wares?
Youth: Ah, hello Leonidas. *looks and winks*
Leonidas: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Leonidas : *nods*
Telemachus : At least you don't need a bath.
Youth: And your friends?
Polytropos : ((i need to duck out, feeling wretched :/
Leonidas : good
Acamas: If your going to browse, I'll head back to the village and let them know your on the way
Kataramene : ((Awww.))
Leonidas : right
Kataramene : *looks at the "youth" *
Telemachus : // alright don't worry SA. get well soon.
Youth: *winks at Kat* Hello again.
Polytropos : ((seeya guys
Thracian Merchant: Welcome to my shop. Would you like to see my wares?
Leonidas: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Youth: *holds up a hand to his mouth, and says in an exaggerated whisper* I'm incognito.
Kataramene : *tries to find a dry bit of her cloak to rub her hair*
Youth: Nice bit of championing, by the way.
Youth: I suppose I like Argos well enough. Fine city.
Kataramene : Hello person who we don't know at all and couldn't possibly think important either.
Egyptian Merchant: The knowledge of the Great Library of Ra-Kedet is now available for all who seek edification.
Leonidas: Edification is good. How much?
Youth: *smiles knowingly*
Youth: As it happens, I'm here on an unrelated matter. A favor for a friend.
Kataramene : I think it's a wise thing for a city to .... oh?
Youth: Related to another matter that involved a certain put-upon goddess who doesn't like this city or its Heroes very much.
Youth: I cannot intervene directly, of course. Rules.
Kataramene : What, again?
Cretan Merchant: Come on Ladies and gents, I'm practically giving this stuff away at these prices!
Youth: This is sort of a legacy of the last related matter. The one with the fruits.
Kataramene : Ahhh. She's never going to give up, is she?
Youth: See, this unnamed aforementioned deity thought you would eat another fruit, since she assumed you would be as selfish as she is!
Youth: So now the situation she set up to smite this city is prepared but unresolved. She must play by the rules as well.
Youth: The end result is, a certain mountaintop forge owned by a friend of ours is full of otherworldly creatures who no longer have a smiting job.
Kataramene : You mean there is a city killing threat roaming free?
Youth: Well, they're not allowed to kill cities without permission. But they're rather making a mess of things at this forge.
Eleni : ((Sorry I'm late!))
Youth: They've been building metal warriors and generally making a nuisance of themselves.
Telemachus : surely our smith friend can't be best pleased about that..
Youth: Indeed, he is not! And since you did him a favor in the past...
Kataramene : Is this the forge in the clouds or the one in the mountain?
Kataramene : That answered that question.
Telemachus : he said mountain, keep up!
Kataramene : Well the other was on the top of one!
Telemachus : that's more of a metaphysical mountain.
Youth: Be wary. These creatures are from a planar realm that is rather more... ah, challenging, than this one.
Eleni : *Approaches with eyebrows raised in a bemused fashion* What mountain is this, now?
Telemachus : Oh there you are
Telemachus : Kat wo
Telemachus : won by the way.
Youth: Furthermore, they have somehow mananged to leash two powerful guardians to protect the forge.
Eleni : I had no doubt she would. Also, hello.
Youth: I have no doubt in your ability to deal with them, you being champions and all.
Youth: *looks around* Yes, a nice city. Good luck. I'll send your priest along after you when he shows up.
Eleni : Hm.
Kataramene : How long will this go on, I wonder?
Eleni : Until we are dead or decide to move to a land less turbulent, I'm sure.
Eleni : What is it this time, exactly?
Kataramene : Metal warriors.
Telemachus : well you know how we had a whole "we're going to smite the city if you don't do x" thing?
Eleni : Yes.
Telemachus : well turns out she set up the whole smiting thing in advance
Eleni : Of course she did.
Telemachus : so now they're just sitting around the mountain top forge wrecking the place.
Kataramene : And we're wanted, again.
Eleni : On Oligyrtos?
Telemachus : yeah
Kataramene : *nods*
Kataramene : Wishing now that we'd kept that other hammer, though I still have the disks and the mace.
Eleni : Was there not also a wand?
Kataramene : Not that I have.
Telemachus : right.. so do we skip the party and head straight for the forge?
Eleni : I think there was. I didn't take it, on account of the fact that my spells could get through the titan's metal without aid.
Eleni : ...there's a party?
Telemachus : we were going to have a feast.
Eleni : I was not informed there was a party.
Telemachus : I think we were technically hosting it
Telemachus : yeah nobody told me until Acadmas mentioned it.
Cretan Merchant: Welcome to Knossos. Can I interest you in my wares?
Telemachus: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Leonidas : I don't suppose we could enjoy the feast and leave in the morning?
Eleni : How did our gladiators do in the later rounds, anyway?
Kataramene : We shouldn't delay, should we. *sighs a little*
Thracian Merchant: Welcome to my shop. Would you like to see my wares?
Telemachus: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Eleni : If these things are an immediate threat, I suppose we shouldn't...
Eleni : Such is the litany of our lives.
Kataramene : Who has it?
Egyptian Merchant: The knowledge of the Great Library of Ra-Kedet is now available for all who seek edification.
Telemachus: Edification is good. How much?
Kataramene : The wand thing, that is.
Eleni : Pol might have?
Kataramene : He might, Pol ....
Kataramene : Where's he gone?
Leonidas : I have a few wands but nothing related to metal monsters.
Telemachus : he drank too much wine at the games, I think he went home to be sick.
Cretan Merchant: Welcome to Knossos. Can I interest you in my wares?
Telemachus: Yes. I'd like to see what you have for sale.
Egyptian Merchant: *packs up his store for the night*
Telemachus : Do we head out now, or in the morning?
Leonidas : My vote's for the morning.
Kataramene : *sigh* How many more will there be if we wait?
Cretan Merchant: *packs his store and leaves*
Telemachus : Well they're making them so, probably a few...
Eleni : ...very well, then.
Eleni : Selfless self-sacrifice it is.
Telemachus : lets get moving then
Leonidas : *strums harp*
Eleni : Funny how the songs about all the greatest heroes never mention the dangers of sleep deprivation.
Lazyzeus : You head out of the city. The road is quiet at this time of night, but familiar enough that you have no difficulty finding your way.
Eleni : Did he thank you?
Kataramene : He did, and then told us about this.
Eleni : Hm, of course. "Well done, now here's the next thing."
Kataramene : More or less, yes.
Kataramene : *looks at the camp*
Leonidas : *Wanders along behind*
Eleni : ..that howl sounds familiar.
Telemachus : *frowns at it*
Kataramene : Familar how?
Eleni : I don't know. Just familiar.
Telemachus : huh.
Eleni : Shame about the acid.
Eleni : Probably ruins them for dinner.
Kataramene : Or the boars would be tasty.
Telemachus : probably wouldnt want to eat one of those anyway.
Lazyzeus : You press on through the night. It's almost dawn when you finally reach the slopes of the mountain.
Kataramene : *trudges along*
Mastiff : *bark, bark*
Kataramene : More ... barking?
Eleni : Hm.
Kataramene : From the old man's home.
Leonidas : Isn't this where we turned up into the hills?
Olympiodorus : Who's out there! I've got a bow, mind you!
Eleni : Everything alright in there?
Eleni : *Wave*
Kataramene : Do not fear, it's us.
Andreas Appolodorus: Good night to you too.
Olympiodorus : Gah! Iron skull!
Telemachus : Hello there Olympiodorus!
Olympiodorus: *squints* Oh! I know you!
Olympiodorus: It's all right, Eirine, Maximus! It's old friends.
Telemachus : Sorry to wake you. We've business on the mountain again.
Olympiodorus: What ever are you doing out at this gods-cursed time of night, and in the rain?
Kataramene : Getting wet and tired.
Olympiodorus: Business? What man conducts business in the middle of the night?
Olympiodorus: Well, come in, come in then.
Olympiodorus: There's not much room, but we'll not turn away old friends.
Eleni : The heroic sort of bussiness, I'm afraid.
Kataramene : *looks at the others*
Eirene: *tell them to come in Oly, no one should be out walking on a night like this
Olympiodorus: I did, woman! Seems they got some mighty important business up on the mountain!
Kataramene : Should we rest a little while?
Olympiodorus: There's been rumblings up there of late.
Eleni : Hah. Perhaps we could take a few hours...
Olympiodorus: Like thunder, only no lightning as I could see. Just this blasted rain, never lets up.
Eirene: I'll get the fire stoked
Telemachus : .. Alright, undtil day break. climbing the mountain in the rain AND the dark mighjt proove suicidal.
Eleni : My thoughts exactly.
Olympiodorus: Right, right, come on in, we'll have some hot tea for you.
Mastiff: *sniffs at you*
Eleni : Terribly sorry about the wet.
Eirene: I'll have some leven bread really in a little while
Olympiodorus: Sorry, Max, you've got to go out. Make room for our guests.
Mastiff: *growls unhappily*
Eirene: *Gets busy around the fire*
Telemachus : You're very kind. We wont stay long, just until it's light enough to see our way up the mountain.
Eleni : Yes. Thought we know the way quite well by now.
Lazyzeus : You remain at the cabin, sipping tea and drying off as the dawn arrives.
Kataramene : Being exhausted is no way to match them.
Telemachus : Dawn is a good time for a raid anyway, watches changing, everyone is tired.
Lazyzeus : The rain, unfortunately, does not let up, but at least there's light to see.
Eleni : Hmm. Thank you so very much for the tea.
Eleni : But I think we shall have to be on our way.
Kataramene : It's good of you to aid us. And also good to know you are both still well.
Eleni : Indeed! Please remain wonderful, the both of you.
Andreas Appolodorus: Leo!
Telemachus : It was good to see you. You know if you ever need anything or feel like moving home, there's always a place for you at Heropolis.
Eleni : And you, Max.
Eleni : Did Leo and Andread move on ahead?
Kataramene : Time for a bashing thing.
Kataramene : Urgh.
Kataramene : Honestly. Dogs.
Eleni : *Chuckles*
Eleni : You'd think you'd be used to it.
Telemachus : hah the Kat doesn't like dogs.
Eleni : With a puppy following you around everywhere.
Telemachus : that's good.
Leonidas : *looks around*
Leonidas : metal bull ahead
Kataramene : Goo.... what?
Eleni : Behind, rather!
Andreas Appolodorus: Monster behind.
Eleni : A pair of them.
Kataramene : We also left Zokos behind.
Leonidas : door's not locked and don't see any signs of a trap
Eleni : Wide open...
Telemachus : yep.
Kataramene : Slowly?
Kataramene : Strange.
Kataramene : IF there were this many don't you think they would have been more obvious?
Lazyzeus : The forge seems unchanges since your last visit.
Lazyzeus : *unchanged*
Eleni : That depends...
Telemachus : theres one of the bronze men.
Telemachus : what was down there? I ccant remember
Eleni : Nothing, if I recall?
Kataramene : Seeking to trap ys?
Telemachus : want to open the door?
Kataramene : There still don't seem that many.
Telemachus : I think it's just the same as before.
Telemachus : what's going on?
Leonidas : unlocked
Kataramene : I'm beginning to smell a trap.
Telemachus : little burning man..
Eleni : Curious...
Telemachus : shield might be usful to you or pol kat?
Telemachus : I think he was hitting us with the forge hammer.
Kataramene : Seems so.
Kataramene : *grabs both things*
Kataramene : Reinforcements?
Telemachus : there's also this note?
Telemachus : on a rob..
Telemachus : *rock
Kataramene : I'm pretty sure they don;t mean for us. What is she sending here?
Eleni : These came through the portals, yes?
Eleni : Perhaps it would be best simply to seal them.
Telemachus : more little fire men?
Leonidas : *nods*
Eleni : I did not catch all of what Hermes said about them.
Kataramene : Only that they were building an army of metal men.
Eleni : He did mention they were not of this world, yes?
Telemachus : maybe we should just camp here and wait?
Eleni : Hm. Where were the portals, exactly?
Kataramene : Let's be somewhere that they are channelled and not able to surround us.
Eleni : Perhaps we should just check those, before anything else.
Kataramene : They were below.
Telemachus : Thanks leo
Kataramene : Does anyone need bandages?
Eleni : I've spares, if needed.
Leonidas : I've got wands for that
Andreas Appolodorus: I have plenty still.
Kataramene : Tel?
Telemachus : I'm good.
Kataramene : Alright. Let's see if we can secure the place properly.
Telemachus : Where was that fire portal?
Kataramene : I think it was below, but I'm not sure.
Telemachus : Its been a few years and a lot of head trauma since we went down there.
Eleni : Not to mention some time spent as a statue.
Kataramene : Which should give you a unique perspective on animated materials.
Telemachus : I wish my hide had stayed as tough.
Telemachus : Leo, come open this door would you?
Leonidas : nope
Telemachus : wont or cant?
Leonidas : It won't open
Telemachus : huh
Telemachus : I swear it was open a minute ago.
Telemachus : I couldn't put a scratch in it with my axe Andreas, you're not going to punch it to death.
Eleni : Hm... this was not always the case, was it?
Kataramene : I have that hammer, he sent us with that before.
Leonidas : I seem to recall going down there before
Telemachus : oooh
Eleni : Ah.
Kataramene : Are we sure they come from this way?
Telemachus : I suppose just sealing the door and taking the hammer away with us might keep them down here?
Kataramene : I mean, how did they pass that door?
Telemachus : if they *are* coming this way.
Telemachus : they had the hammer.
Leonidas : those guys look tough
Kataramene : Oh... yes, then perhaps?
Telemachus : SOMEONE has been down here... look at those.
Kataramene : I'm just interested in how they got it in the first place.
Leonidas : goddess
Telemachus : we left it on the forge. maybe one of heras agents opened the door.
Kataramene : *looks into the dark to either side of the bridge.
Telemachus : doesnt really matter..
Telemachus : someone want to try hitting them with magic or something?
Telemachus : maybe some ice to put out that fire?
Telemachus : it's ok they're wimps!
Kataramene : Are they coming through here?
Eleni : Both of those have been sealed.
Eleni : But this one...
Eleni : This one has been... changed.
Kataramene : It seems different.
Eleni : I think this is where their reinforcements are supposed to come from.
Telemachus : did the magic gold one have any clues on him?
Kataramene : So what do we do? Stay here and hit things as they do?
Kataramene : I didn't look.
Telemachus : I say we go through and wreck the place.
Eleni : It should be noted that the place these creatures come from is probably on fire.
Eleni : Constantly.
Leonidas : think you have to fix the portals somehow
Telemachus : I'm fine with that *plinks helmet*
Eleni : It may be easier to simply seal it, yes, if I can even do that from here..
Kataramene : Not with the amount they were focusing though.
Eleni : *Studies the portal*
Kataramene : *nods her thanks*
Eleni : We have some broken portals right here, after all... maybe I can see what they did to those.
Kataramene : Well we can't kill /everthing/ the other side, can we?
Eleni : Hm. I COULD close it, but I'm certain they could simply open it again from their end.
Kataramene : So we have to go through it and stop them doing that?
Telemachus : Yeah why not?
Eleni : We will have to disrupt whatever is anchoring the portal from their end, yes.
Telemachus : they probably have a leader or some big shot wizard
Kataramene : *looks at the portal wearily* A feast would have been so nice.
Telemachus : or little shot. whatever.
Leonidas : Indeed
Eleni : It could be a mage, yes. Or possibly some kind of object.
Eleni : I suppose we shall see.
Lazyzeus : You set up a temporary camp in sight of the portal, to keep an eye out for your missing companions...
Kataramene : *sighs and looks back at the door*
Leonidas : *keeps watch*
