"You could help me with this," Tian'ith responded. With no others around to witness, her manner was more relaxed and acknowledging of the attention he gave her and of his interest in her actions. She lifted the mechanism to a more visible position. The spring-loaded aspect of the device could now be seen as intended to break a vial and spread the contents upon the triggering of a delicately set switch.

"I witnessed the construction of some by specialists of the scouting cadre," she continued, turning the device this way and that and looking at it critically. "It is not something in which I have practice but the one which I dismantled and used on that slime proved effective. I will improve but I have neither the tools or the materials they used and your eye would be useful." She paused thoughtfully then lifted an querying brow in his direction.

"In fact, faerbol'se, you could perhaps provide something new." She withdrew the vial from the device and held it up for Zau'lann to examine. "This will hold the foul stuff that is spreading, which will provide, but perhaps it could also contain fire?"

New Friends?

After spending some time to rest and recover for injuries the group went back to the infamous slave market. The objective was to sneak into a temple to get some poison. Rogha found the whole idea a bit odd but played along.

One of them tried to bribe the innkeeper to get access to a basement or cellar. But to be granted access the group was asked to retrieve an heirloom kept by a tribe of kobolds located in a nearby cave.

The cave was trapped. To get to the "treasure" the group had to sneak in and out of the cave undetected, highly unlikely, eliminate most of the occupants or negotiate with the kobolds. Given that Miiq was present it seemed that the 3rd option might be the correct one. Rogha suggested to make a deal but given that her charismatic stature did not really have any effect on her "friends" she did not expect anything less than another bloodbath. Not that she would be offended or unhappy about tearing the littles buggers limbs apart just for fun. To her surprise the group made a deal with the kobolds who were in need of digging...

//

Ready to lvl up but may need LB's feedback.

I do not know who captured Rogha and possibly destroyed her lair in the process. So far I have assumed that they were humans.

I suppose that even if she did not see who attacked her, she may be able to tell that she was captured by slavers or mercenaries raiding the surface once and a while. She may remember the smell of her attackers, the language(s) they spoke to each other, any accent they may have or any detail that would help her know their race(s).

Do I need to roll a Lore check to know more?

The main slavers in the default plot are the duergar of the Urgan clan. However, you could easily decide that there was some other third party who ultimately sold/traded you to the duergar. If you want to connect to a later plot hook you could say they were lizardfolk.

I'm mostly leaving these kinds of details to you players. I'm trying to run with what you give me and integrate it into the story.

They really were insane, asking the group to steal from Lloth herself, inside of her own temple. There was no way such an insult would be ignored and go unpunished. The Male indeed was right to cower, but the Ryld and their sponsors showed no such fear. The fools. The idiots.

But Ravillion could work this to her advantage then. Even she was not fond of the idea of stealing from a Temple of Lloth, but she could not show weakness or hesitation. Lloth herself was... not likely to directly intervene. And so long as they were not captured alive they should be fine... Yes, fine... Any other Drow they killed would not be an issue, if they fell to them then they were weak and deserving of it. The actual act of stealing from Lloth's Temple... so long as Ravillion did not do it herself then she should be fine.

Yes, she would not allow herself to be cursed even further... No, rather she would be the one to do the cursing and get her revenge, yes...

So they were supposed to get this necklace from a kobald cave and Darsin had no qualms about squashing a bunch of the little lizards, but it turned out they were willing to negotiate an exchange of the necklace for some sorta digging. Darsin wasn't clear on how that was gonna work, though he'd heard the others discussing some kinda bug that dug. Welp, whatever got the job done was fine with him. It had been a while though since he's been able to offer a proper burnt offering to the lords of fire. Perhaps a good situation would turn up on the next stage of their mission.

Miiq had seen the looks in their eyes. There was no pity for what they'd done to him, of course; no slightest trace of regret. He had not expected any such thing. Instead, he had witnessed hunger. Uncertainty. Fear. Miiq knew these things well. He knew that they were often the seeds of rebellion.

The dragon-kin served a purpose, for now. There was much still to be learned; much work still to be done. But they had seen Miiq, growing strong in his new power. They would begin to see the depth of their mistake. And then, well... when chaos reigns, there is all manner of opportunity for the mighty.

// I'm really sorry guys, I've been trying to make the game work with my schedule but it's gotten a lot harder lately. I think the most fair thing to do is step out and give someone else a try at this point. Hopefully things will change later and there will be space for me to rejoin the group in the future. Have fun guys!
