That's weird, I spent 10 minutes updating the post and now my edits are gone. I guess I'll try again.

Strong looked around the lab and over the strange, not-Elder's notes. He did the mental equivalent of rubbing his chin before looking at the others, "I think we should pursue the Improved Regeneration Serum. Sure we can't manufacture them until we've found and raided a Harvester, but having the knowledge will be a big step once we're able to do so. The Combat Pheromones and the Improved Library also look appealing. What do you all think?

Research: 6 unless we go with the Cyberdisc Command Integration, then it's Craft Structural: 11.

"I am in favor of focusing our efforts on support technologies," the Pale One said. "The faster we develop improved research techniques, the sooner we will reap the benefits, and the cyberdisc will be useful while we still lack high-quality weapons. I believe this to be the best... how do the humans say it? Ah, yes. The best long-term plan."

Strong grunted. "It's a good idea, Pale, and I agree. I just hope working on two projects at once won't hinder our advances. We've been fortunate so far and I would have to see another...incident like the cyberdisc happen again."

The Quite One listens thoughtfully to the discussion. "The Cyberdisks will indeed be good tools, and the long term plan to advance our research seems most correct. I support The Pale One's proposal, but we should work on medical improvements as soon as we can."

It then returns to the dozens of insects it has collected on the workbench, only some of which continue to move within their confines or against their various restraints. Applying an electrical current to hair fine wires inserted in the nervous system of one larger, not quite dead, insect elicits a spasm of movement from one of its rear legs. The Quite One carefully notes all of the significant parameters in its notes, then looks up, "I am ready to assist with the Cyberdisks."

"Finally, the beginning of an army of our own," the Scowling One pondered. It had looked around the new 'lab' with disdain, but this thought seemed to get its attention, thoughts flickering behind its overlarge eyes. "Yes. Yes, this is good. Let the work begin!"

Research Phase 2

Week 19

Project: Cyberdisc Command Integration (50RP)

Research Points (RP) Needed: 50

Project Leader: The Pale One: Knowledge Physical Sciences 14, ROLL 10, Result 24
Project Support (all roll vs. DC20 to add +2, DC25 to add +3, DC30 to add +4, non-core skills subtract 1 from the bonus):
The Strong One: Craft Structural 11, ROLL 4, Result 15
The Quiet One: Craft Mechanical 13, ROLL 19, Result 31 (+4 RP)
The Scowling One, Knowledge Physical Sciences 11, ROLL 3, Result 14

Research Earned: 10 (base) + 24 (project leader) + 4 (support) = 38 points

38 RP earned toward Cyberdisc Command Integration

* * *

The research project is started up again. The unfamiliar and inefficient human tools lead to a slow start, but this is made up for to some extent by the enthusiasm of the clones working, for the first time, out from under the ever-watching eyes of the Masters.

Hi Everyone,

It's with great regret that I have to call an end to my campaigning days with the Saturday group, at least for the foreseeable future. Due to kidney problems my mother has to undergo thrice weekly dialysis (tue, thur, sat) and due to her limited mobility I have to accompany her. It's unfortunate but such is life.

I'll like to thank all of you guys for the many, many hours (years!) of happy gaming and the wonderful stories we have created together. Particular thanks to LB for gathering this group together and for his wonderful imagination that has fueled those stories. Hopefully my retirement will not be permanent but at this moment in time it appears open-ended. Until we meet again, have fun and enjoy the experience!

Regards Fel
