Backup Monday Night Game Discussion Thread

ooc there was also LB's post:
Doctor White sends Doctor Allen an e-mail, copying the rest of Alpha Team.

RE: Medical Priorities
James:
First off, I'd like to thank you for your help in the medical lab these last weeks. We're making progress, and I know that Alpha has made good use of the new medikits.
Our study of the alien life forms (both living and dead) has opened up new avenues of medical research. We are continuing our work on a bioweapon that will work on alien physiology. Based on your reports on how the stun gas worked on the floaters and snakemen, we anticipate having useful results before too long.
Here are the projects that I believe we can complete, with the proper support.
Advanced Medikit 2: With continued work we can make the standard medikit even more effective. This is the least "expensive" option in terms of resources, and I project that with our full biological research team assigned to it, we can have results in as little as a week.
Advanced Surgical Kit: I've taken your reports on battlefield medical treatment and built an advanced field intervention kit that can resuscitate a dying soldier. It still needs some tests and additional work before it's ready for full production. (ooc: this item is a one-shot Raise Dead)
Elerium-powered Biogenesis Unit: Taking a cue from Grace's fancy reactor project, I've drawn up plans for an advanced device that we can use for our medical projects based on alien tech. This will require you to twist some elbows to release a quantity of that precious Elerium, but I project that the Unit will increase medikit production by 50-75%, and may possibly have other benefits as well. This project will be time consuming and require both researchers and manufacturers to make it happen, but I'm confident that it will provide results.
We've also been working with Doctor Yered's nanotechnology submission, and hope to have additional useful medical applications in the field soon. I hope he will return soon to assist with these efforts.
I also have some ideas for a serum that may allow us to tap into the regenerative powers of the alien DNA. This is a long-term project but any assistance you can provide, to this or any of the projects above, may be incredibly vital.

Thanks for posting that over, Jenniza.
I will post Dr. Wagner's usual weekly e-mail here tomorrow. I'll also post the next game as usual over at NWC, so be sure to check both sites. I'll include the medical options in the research projects list.

Re: Backup Monday Night Game Discussion Thread
ooc LB, if possible, I'd like to dual-weild plasma pistols and give them a whirl
I think by now we should have about a million plasma pistols. Would you believe 50,000 plasma pistols? Would you believe 2,000 plasma pistols? okay, berhaps 150 plasma pistols?
thanks,
Stephanie

Re: Backup Monday Night Game Discussion Thread
Just remember that d20 handles dual-weilding of pistols differently than it does melee weapons. I think you need to use the d20 action menu and then specify that you want to dual-wield.
Re: Backup Monday Night Game Discussion Thread
*nods* yeah, it's like a 3-4 click process, thanks, it takes a little longer to set-up, but it's fun to do

Jane slipped off to the showers quietly. Shortly afterwards, Musa came into the Common Area where the others were. He was grinning. When questioned, he admitted that it was Jane's birthday and that he had been planning a surprise birthday party for her today The near-attack on the base almost put a damper on things; but, now everyone was ready. They had kept Alpha Team in the dark because of Jane's CIA training that they knew somehow she'd probably catch wind of it if they knew. Musa took the liberty of getting them a variety of gifts since he had access to Jane's personnel file from when she worked on the outside and what she did in her private life too to a limited extent, like hobbies and such.
When Jane came out of her room from a short rest, there was a surprise party waiting for her featuring a bootleg copy of The Green Hornet which was not due to release for a couple of weeks in theaters across the world; but, somehow Musa had connections somewhere and that produced a couple of chuckles. The rest of the party consisted of things like birthday cake and a variety of gifts like comic books, jewelry, t-shirts, baseball caps, various movie memorabilia, posters of 2011's male models, some provocative langerie, a hi-tech watch, an elegantly framed picture of Jane's brother's family, and an even harder to come-by picture of Jane's parents. The last gift was from Chief Hallorand and drew an awe of respect from everyone as it touched Jane's heart in a special way.
It was nice to have some time to relax finally withot some alien attack breathing down their necks... of course, everyone knew that the party could be cut short at any moment; but, they made the party count for as much as they could and luckily it wasn't interrupted.

Re: Backup Monday Night Game Discussion Thread
ooc I tried to imply that Musa provided gifts for Alpha team to pick from to give to Jane, so they weren't left out.
Re: Backup Monday Night Game Discussion Thread
ooc none of it has any in-game functionality of course, just RP'ing for fun
sigh, can't edit posts it seems

Re: Backup Monday Night Game Discussion Thread
I haven't implemented dual-wielding of handguns in X-COM; Mulu tried it and found it to be very buggy, so he dropped it.
Re: Backup Monday Night Game Discussion Thread
I think I had it working a few weeks ago in the gun range... I'll try again in the gun range or live fire. It's a lot of fun nevertheless. It's a D20 issue that they fixed recently. Forrestwolf was showing us in one of our campaigns and we had a blast with it on occassions. I'm not sure if the X-COM issue is that the ammo is drawn from a power pack and it gets confused. Obviously they have to be identical weapons for it to work right.
anyway, I need to run.
