Hallton Halfpike and Xavier Drum successfully fled the destruction of Eyvinder the Sage's tower, but have now been deposited in a remote forest with a number of vicious beasts. There seems no option but to explore and hope they can somehow find a way to the capital, where the king - according to Eyvinder's last divination - is preparing to take a catastrophic step for the world of Hythum.
