Zaine just snorted , already disgusted and quite frankly, fed up. If they thought his axe was coming of his back and into his hand, they had another think coming. This dueger doesn't work for free. He would cross his arms and find something to lean against next time something attacked them. Smug little bastard...the voice playing through his mind again.."if one wanted to be paid, one would think he would have been there at the beginning and at the end..". Leftovers and lint from the pocket was what he had received. He had slogged through all the crap they did and then dismissed like he wasn't there? He snorts again... yep, hell would freeze over before he worked for free.

Ash studies the bears a moment then takes a look at the cave. He smiles sadly, "You had good home here. Me had good home like this. Me mad you lose."




He walks back toward the others and his usual smile is slow to return to his face. "I want go home. Jobs here confusing. This not how Pa keeps home."

"Been a long journey ta comes back empty handed, and that Tout ain't gonna be thinkin' muchs of us either." She looked around at her companions, "Maybe we gets better details next times?" She looked at the druegar's unhappy face, "First job he's held with us an now no money agains for him. 5000 golds each would'a made him smile for sure. Maybe he feel better if we let him chase down that stupids fop, and give him a whallop...take what he has!" Toad snorted scratching her butt, "Keep the bear safe and we coulds say it were an accident if he whalloped him too hard."

Ash ambles along the street flinching everytime he gets close to someoneon the street. "Why they attack?" He shakes his head sadly, "Me no understand, me want home."

With him gone, they've gone insane and will want to attack those that took away their 'Steve'. Think of how you would feel if bandits killed your father. Wouldn't you want revenge? This is the same except that 'Steve' forced his 'fatherhood' on them while yours raised you as a father should raise his son."

Following along still stewing in his anger he thought it wasn't much of a squid. He had seen some powerful squid from where he came from and this one did not impress him. He wondered what payless goose chase would they do next and how he would be cheated this time.

His companions were not here willingly! This was new information to Chiun. It did perhaps explain some of the edge of desperation that they carried, though the monk was pretty certain that the dwarf would be desperate for something regardless of the circumstances.

Still, stamping out slavery was a worthy end, whether it was motivated by self-righteousness or simple revenge. The information did nothing to dissuade Chiun from accompanying his current companions or helping them achieve their goal. Where his journey took him then, well, he would wait and see.

"I hates to see that squids real childrens..." Toad was not really optimistic about finding those responsible for their capture or their willingness to send them back. In fact, given the choice she would rather keep her companions company rather than return to the squalor and misery she came from. "But more importants, needs another job."
