Thinking he now knows what is happening ash's usual vacant smile returns to his face. "We kill them in front of," his brow furrows as he searches for a name," uh the man that was eating." He looks around the measuring up the lizards.

Darick shook his head furiously. "No Ash. We're not killing the lizards, we're killing the Man-that-was-eating. At least that's the plan. Whether or not he'll kill us is a different story."

Still holding the annoying imp, Din turned to Darick and Ash.

"I don't mean to nitpick, but killing The-Man-that-was-eating should be the last thing we do, right? We need him alive to point us in the right direction. So we kill his henchmen first, and then force him to tell us what we want to know. And after that I suppose we could kill him. Or give him to our new friends... effectively the same."

I say kill the fire lizards here and stick to the deal. Break too many deals and we won't find work.

*he shrugs*

Either way, make a decision as it is too damn hot to be just twindlin our dangles debatin.

* either way, he does not plan on returning to his home as he rather likes the planes & Sigil. *

Morality. It seemed to have gotten mighty flexible lately. And now once again they were breaking their word, for it was that, even given to a scum like al Fazil. They didn't know much about the circumstances here, only that they were being forced to choose sides based on a few minutes of conversation with each faction.

Devram remains quiet as the others debate. He's not so certain what to think, or even if his thoughts are his own any more. He'd thought he was a good man, back at his farm. But now, with the magic coursing through his veins, he did not know what he was.

He could end this; he had the scrolls. His thumb flicks on the edge of the case that juts out from his pouch. An ice storm, combined with the black tentacles, and it would all be over. A smile spreads across his features.

He blinks, and realizes he's missed the last part of the conversation. Sweat trickles down his spine as he rejoins the others, sweat born of more than just the heat of this place.

Darick looked around at the landscape. "At least it isn't Hell. I don't know about Baator, but I kind of like this place." He turned to the others. "I know I shouldn't have killed Caliph, but I was getting tired of his stone walling. We were offered a way home and when it wasn't forthcoming, I lost it." He pulled out his coin purse and hefted it. "Still, we got the information we needed and some good coin. Hey, I may be good, but I'm still a rogue." He grinned and put the purse away while looking back out at the landscape.

Chiun raised an eyebrow at Darick's justification. After a moment, he spoke:

"A farmer lived on the border between two lords. At harvest time, when the tax collectors came from the western lord, he told them that he must pay his taxes to the eastern lord, and it would not be fair to him to be charged twice. When the tax collectors came from the eastern lord, he informed them that the western lord's tax collectors had already visited, and it would not be fair to be charged twice. The farmer thought himself quite clever and kept up this act for many years, amassing a store of wealth far beyond what his neighbors could.

"Predictably, the two lords eventually went to war over some perceived slight or desire or simply because that is what men do. When the armies met at the border, they raided the farmer's stores, turned his home into a hospital, and trampled and salted his fields. When the farmer begged each lord for protection from the other, each pointed out that their tax rolls showed that he paid taxes to the other lord, and should be going to that one for protection."

Chiun paused for a moment. "Which lord will you serve, then? Goodness? Coin? Impatience? Or will you serve none, and hope that war never comes to you?"

Ash looks puzzled for a moment as he tries to follow Chuin's story. "Farmer make poor balance." He furrows his brow as he speaks his next thought. "Shouldn't serve goodness or badness" He taps his chest, "Me serve no one. " Smiling once again he nods his head, "Balance good."

Din chose to pass on the subject of morality. He enjoyed war after all. The fighting, the rush, and the profiting. The way he saw it, he didn't have to answer to anyone but himself, and as long as he wasn't lying to himself about who he was, then there would never be a problem.

"Well, I wasn't going to bring it up since I figure you don't need it- what's done is done, as long as we aren't expecting it to happen again. But since you did bring it up... I'd just like to say, let's keep our tempers in check. We're in this together, and the group as a whole should come before one person's mood."
