"So we've returned the mirror to that smelly lizard and made an enemy of the woman who claimed it as hers. Why her henchmen were pointing their weapons at us I don't know. What I also don't know is what we're doing now. I gathered that we're taking some sensate on a hunting excursion, but it doesn't matter if he lives or dies, right? After all that we've been through, I really want to pay those walking toads back for everything they've done to us..."

Chiun had chosen not to accompany the others on their visit to Grythsz. With the decision apparently agreed upon that they would keep their bargain, he allowed himself a small measure of trust that they would be able to complete the task without his supervision. In truth, the monk was pleasantly surprised that they had come to that decision with a minimum of prompting on his part. Perhaps they had more than a single coherent thought between them after all.

Instead, he spent the time meditating in what passed for a public garden in Sigil, which is to say, a small collection of rocks that had not yet been built upon. It was adequately refreshing. When he felt himself recentered, he sought out his new companions once more.

He was starting to get used to the idea of living here, taking on these odd jobs, each day confronted with something that would have scoured his sanity back on the farm. Perhaps that was the worst of it, the fact that Sigil could become normal. At least they had a possible lead on the creatures, these geethankee, that had brought them here. But would they be able this time to gain the upper hand?

Toad looked worriedly at her largest companion wondering how he would respond to a hunt.
Ash worried often about balance and animals, she could see how this might get out of hand.

"If we don'ts protect the fella, I'd be guessin' that we would not gets many guardin' jobs. Havin' a goods bag of golds make life here a bit better if ya ask me." She frowned a bit wiping her running nose with her sleeve.

"I thinks it would helps get you'ins closer ta gettin' home if we has a rep tha lets us gets more better jobs." She grunted, "Ands for those of us who has no home ta goes back ta, maybe a way of gettin' a good starts on a new one."

"Going home good." Ash responds to Toads speech with his usual smile on his face. "I wonder why we need to go to protect. Pa often marked an animal but only he took the hunter."

Protection. That was what they had agreed to provide. The way this overeager fop used the word had more in common with a pair of thugs shaking down a merchant than it did with someone who truly needed it.

It wasn't killing that Chiun opposed, or even killing a mother and her cub; everyone was someone's child at one time, and death came for all of them. It was the notion of taking the life of a thinking being for no better reason than taking its life that he opposed. Weaver was not cold, nor hungry, nor endangered; killing the bear would serve no purpose but to fatten his already-swelled ego. It was simply not acceptable.

No matter. It was done. And now they would deal with the consequences. But as one who had no particular goals or plans, Chiun felt fairly confident that it would be little more than an inconvenience, if even that.

Darick looked at the others, his gaze lingering on Zaine. "I know some of you wanted to kill that mother and her cub. I'm no ranger or tree-hugger, but I won't kill a sentient creature just because someone else wants it dead. If it had attacked us or our charge, I would have put it down in an instant. But, our charge is a pompous ass who wanted nothing more than to inflate his already over-inflated ego and no amount of coin is worth me taking the life of another for only that reason. If we don't get paid, you can have part of my share from the next job, but I won't become a murderer."
