Acantha - VM

"The Commissar's actions are highly suspect," Acantha commented as they were underway and beyond the ears of his men. "He removed three vital sources of information in the killing of those vox operators. People if not us then the Inquisitor may well wish to have interrogated."

"There was little we could do in the situation," she continued, a dissatisfied twist to her lips, "we were too few to challenge him short of simple elimination and to risk our credentials being accepted as sufficient authority, but in my eyes his motives require interrogation."

"It will be necessary to report his actions in full," the Death Cult assassin pulled out and stared at her sword. "The lack of respect he showed for the Inquisition's authority is heretical enough alone."

Garm - Ayram

Garm felt the same way as Acantha. Plus, being a former guardsman himself, he'd too often been witness to the homicidal whimsy of the commissariat. Often times they might kill a perfectly good fighting man merely to strike fear into the emperors servants, and that was no way for servants of the emperor to behave, nor for any good soldiers to fight.

"Yes, at the very least the commissar shouldn't be at the head of the emperors forces here. He's liable to get them all killed for nothing... Or to kill them himself.

We'll see what the inquisitor has to say about it once we secure the heretic witch."

"It was perhaps fear." the Techpriest momentarily looked up from the monitoring of the containment pod. "Irrational decisions as a result of fear are an inevitable consequence of relying on neutrotransmitters and chemical-based information-transfer systems in your biological form. Fear or resentment at our undermining of his authority."

Despite being mechanical and emotionless, the techpriest's tone manages to sound almost smug. "One who has accepted the blessings of the Omnissiah would not be so fallible. Such is the wisdom of the Machine God. Still, one expects better from the Commissariat."

With successful lift off and transit out the hive, the two escort Vultures fighters left and returned to their assigned patrol duties. The trip through orbit was was uneventful as the team headed toward the merchant vessel Stedfast Faith.

The Steadfast Faith slowly filled the viewing screens on the shuttle as the it approached. It was a large and ancient vessel having served the Imperium for several millennium. Approximately 4.5 kilometers in length, it was covered with crenelated towers fresco-ed with gargoyles and two headed eagles - massive banks of lances and torpedo tubes cover the hull. It was truly an impressive sight.

The servitors efficiently guided the transit shuttle into an empty docking bay after receiving permission to land. Now as breathable air is being restored to the shuttle bay, you await permission to disembark with your precious cargo.

After a hour or so wait, you were given permission to leave the shuttle and "officially" board the Stedfast Faith. You were met with a cool, but polite welcome and taken to quarters specially prepared for you and your cargo. Your cargo was brought and safely stored within the psi containment unit.

Time past and the Stedfast Faith entered the immaterium or warp as most call it. It was after this that the Captain agreed to meet with you. Escorted to the bridge, you were denied the request to use the astropath to send a message to the Tri-horn and the Inquisitor - because the Captain did not want to risk his astropath while in warp. However, he did agree for you to send your message in a couple days time when the ship was scheduled to drop out of warp to take on more cargo.

It was about this time the shuttle was attacked. Alarms begin to ring out on the bridge. The team hustled to the shuttle bay and were confronted with mutants. A battle ensued between the mutants, the crew, and the team. As the battle was wrapping up, the alarm sounded in Severian's ear... someone was tampering with the psi containment unit. rushing back to the quarters, the team was confronted once again with mutants who had entered through the ventilation system and freed the wyrd.

The team quickly plunged into action and followed the mutants through the ventilation system and into the Black Holds of the ship. A dismal place... whole areas of the vessel no longer used and allowed to deteriorate. Gas, toxic wastes, mutants, criminals... all call the Black Holds home. Now the team must risk the holds to recapture the wyrd before he causes any more harm. The Emperor's work is never done.

Ave Imperator!

Garm - Ayram

Garm had let the team deal with the captain while he compiled a report for the inquisitor in the shuttle. Which was fine with him... most captains Garm had dealt with had believed themselves gods aboard their own ship. And while for the most part it was true, they didn't like toning it down in the face of the inquisition, and it showed most of the time.

He was just finishing the report when warning klaxons sounded and he sprang into action without another thought, leaving everything but his las pistol and his trusty mono-sword behind.

Decay. Acantha wrinkled her nose in disgust at the smell. The tunnels had been cramped and ultimately slowed them to the point where the trail had gone cold.

Then there were the rats. What could possibly leave such a trail? But the others had been right. It had led them to where they needed to be.

She could not fathom why these mutations had wanted to take their captive. Unless, as had been speculated, his power had drawn them. Reason or not she understood they must retrieve him swiftly for two reasons.

First, it was their job. The Inquisition demanded nothing less than they see it through. Secondly, should the mutants deliberately or inadvertently aid in freeing his power, they were all very dead.

The Black Holds.. an ominous sounding name, but that's where the team needed to go and recover the escaped wyrd. Greeted immediately by noxious fumes and waste, the team proceeded deep into the bowels of the ship. Ambushed several times by mutants, the team found their way into the wyrd's new lair. Screeching poisonous words to his Master Tzeentch, the Wyrd launched a sorcerous atack at the team seriously wounding two of them before them were able to subdue the heretic. Now arriving at Scintillia, the team transported the wyrd to Inquisitor Sol-Dane for further questioning and interrogation. The team awaits the Inquisitor in the briefing room.

It was done. How he came to bend the mutated abominations in the Black Holds to his will even through the devices restraining him she did not know, but the power she had felt wash over her when they confronted him had almost overwhelmed her. Quick reflexes had saved her, as ever they had, then a stroke of her sword had laid him low.

That was why they had been punished so damagingly. She had abandoned their ways and resorted to firearms. It was not appropriate. She had been warned, had done as was desired, and this had been the reason. To be sure she would subdue the witch. No more. Never would she do that again.

As she had looked down at the dying psychic she had wanted little more than to taste the blood. Would it be different? Would the red sweetness be suffused with the taint of the warp? It would have been so easy, but she had resisted. Prompt aid had prevented his dying and they had returned with their appointed task complete.

Waiting on the Inquisitor's pleasure her mind drifted to the question of taste once more. Perhaps there would be another opportunity? A slow smile twisted her lips. Yes... next time.

Brand - Monk Gently

Brand leaned back in his chair while on wait for the Inquisitor, who he affectionately thought of as "that piece of garbage who threw me in a boiling pot without thinking twice." He reached down to softly touch the grip of his new bolt pistol and grinned easily, though. Alright, he admitted to himself. It'd been tough. Damn tough. But they'd done it, and they'd survived and...

And his next thought scared him. It'd been enjoyable. Not in the 'haha what fun', sort of way, like tripping the ugly sod lumbering around the corner and watching him tumble into the depths of the Underhive, but in an entirely new way to him. He'd done... something good? Accomplished something that mattered?

He had to remind himself that it was all to keep him out of a long prison sentence. He was still looking out for just one thing. Yeah.
