Acantha's expression remained completely neutral showing no more perturbation than it ever did at the prospect of a new mission. Even mention of exposure to the influence of the Warp caused little more than a slight frown and a flicker of her eyes towards Zeevja.
Not until mention was made of the alien races did she appear much more than passively accepting. At that her lips curled a little, her chin lifted and a cold gleam of anticipation lit her eyes briefly.
It remained while Severian asked his question, to which she nodded agreement. "I also would like to know if that is so," she added when he had finished. "Should he have then we may face more than threats than xeno abominations, and ones whose heretical taint is harder to identify. If we are aware of contacts that identification may become much easier."

Inquisitor Sol listens and nods when hearing Severian's question, then the follow-up question by Acnatha.
"I agree. It is very high probability that this accursed tome was acquired by the Shoras Cartel for Victus Magnus; whether by accident or a dark purpose - that remains unclear."
He pauses considering, eying the acolytes for about ten seconds before coming to a decision.
"I have already dispatched another team to infiltrate the Shoras Cartel to further examine their role in this... event. I should have answers by the time you return from this mission."
A soft sigh escapes through his lips and he continues.
"It seems probable that another agency is supporting Victus especially considering his lifestyle as a socialite pomp. However, one must consider the theory that Victus is more than he seems. The tomes found in his laboratory along with the Chaos Gate indicates he could be a powerful sorcerer in his own right. Still, it is an avenue of investigation that must be pursued once we have recovered the parts and destroyed them."
Turning his steely gaze upon Acantha, he speaks again
"Any humans you encounter in the Space Hulk would most likely be scavengers or opportunist seeking to salvage any lost archeotech... or even a heretech of the Adeptus Mechanius. If they impede your progress, simply put them down. I leave that to your own digression."
He pauses for a few seconds eying Zeejva and Brand....
"Any other questions or comments?"

Despite his impassive mask and mechanical profile, Severian somehow manages to look shifty at the mention of heretech and the recovery of ancient machines. "There may be... many such examples of technology on board the Hulk," he ventures. "Given that the Adeptus Mechanicus rendered aid, then if we happen to find any unusual technology on the Hulk, recovering it and handing it to them - us - for study would seem... appropriate. Would it not?" the tech-priest asks.

Garm felt he had to speak up after hearing Severian. He felt that they would have enough trouble surviving without trying to scavenge dangerous tech. Still, he tried to employ some amount of tact and diplomacy. This was the Inquisition after all, not the Guard.
"The Mechanicus aided us because they are dutiful servants of the Emperor, Severian, and duty can be its own reward. Not to mention that Heretech is dangerous. I'm sure the Mechanicus would agree?"

Zeevja's eyes brightened at the discussion of the Space Hulk.
"There are many lost ones walking the halls of such places," she said, smiling. "Mad, tainted souls who chase little girls away from their fires with cries of 'demon child!' and sacrifice them to the Void when they dare strike back. They deserve little consideration."
"As for the bounties to be found... is it not the way to scavenge all that one can find in these places? I know that these were the orders the vessels on which I served were given, at least. But our priorities shall be as our master's words, as ever."
The psyker bowed her head to Inquisitor Sol.

Inquisitor Sol turns and listens to the the exchange between Severian, Kastian, and Zeevja and an odd smile crosses his face briefly before fading.
" Of course we are grateful for the help the Honored Mechanius supplied Severain... their combat servitors were instrumental in assaulting the Manor. But I cannot help to agree with Kastian, the mission comes first. However, if the opportunity presents itself and it does not compromise the mission, you may certainly recover some technology... also providing it is not heretical in nature."
He watches Severian for a moment, then continues
" I also see no problem turning any recovered technology over the Honored Mechanius, once it has been cataloged and deemed not heretical."
Turning his attention to the group as a whole, he speaks
" Team Vigilant, you have been briefed with your mission. The shuttle is waiting. Proceed to the shuttle pad. Supplies are already loaded on the shuttle. May the Emperor be with you."

The Team settled about the transport and began their five day transition through the warp, excited and nervous about their destination - Space Hulk Damocles. However the inconsistency of the empyrean turned their five day trip into twenty one days. Exiting the warp, they were greeted by an Imperial Scout vessel pulling picket duty and informed the team of their late arrival.
The pilot servitors guided the shuttle into a cavernous bay on the Space Hulk and the team began their adventure in the Space Hulk. It wasn't long before they made contact - Orks!
A fierce battle began as the team fought the boyz, wave after wave of Orks hit the team slowly forcing the team to withdraw from that section of the Hulk. The Team moved away from the Ork infested area and took a LEFT finding themselves in a section that ran life support.
An interesting idea formed among the team... if they were able to turn off the life support in this section of the hulk, maybe it would kill the Orks from lack of breathable atmosphere. Severian connected to the aged and poorly maintained machine spirit of the life support machines and was able to shut down life support. The Orks immediately sent a crew of gretchins to get it back on line, but the team had barricaded themselves in the room. With warning from the auspex of the approaching gretchins, the team set a melta-bomb on the life support machines and exited down a hatch, then set the bomb off destroying the machine and possibly sealing themselves into the tunnels beneath.
A little exploration lead them to a crack in the tunnels and they wiggled through to the other side which turned out to be an asteroid imbedded into the Hulk. Exploring that, hoping to find an exit, they ended up going LEFT and found a set of additional cracks/holes. But as they were examining the holes, some sort of xenos insect like creatures attacked from one of the holes. Then hissing could be heard coming from every hole...

Acantha's head flipped around to the nearest hole at the sound and she too hissed softly. "We cannot go down, we have to go back," she growled, "and the way may not be clear." Her eyes flipped to the tunnel.
"Unless any have a quick solution then some return swiftly back and assess the route," she continued. "The tunnel is narrow and we will best defend our retreat within it."
Eyes becoming wild with a rising violence turned back to the holes. "The blood of xeno heretics on my blade furthers the Emperor's glory, but these are beasts. I have only grenades, do any have gas bombs to quell them? If you do not then retreat, and I will drop one of what I have down each hole."

Kastian had already come to the retreat conclusion. There was no way staying here would be a good idea. Their only hope was that the melta bomb hadn't made their exit useless.
"No, we forget this area now and go back. Not another resource will be wasted trying to quell these xeno beasts. There's nothing we can do here."
Kastian didn't state what they were all thinking: That it was entirely possible their only route of escape had been destroyed by their own melta bomb. He could certainly use some of the Emperor's guidance about now.

"Perhaps I could prepare some ordnance for the task, but our time is not infinite," the techpriest opined. "Neither is aforesaid ordnance. We could, however, attempt to make our own path using our meltabombs, returning to the tunnel junction and blasting a way into the Hulk." He paused, his mechanical voice taking on a somehow more distant tone. "Of course, we risk undermining the precarious structural integrity of the Hulk, not to mention exposing ourselves to the vacuum of space. I leave it to you as to whether these constitute acceptable risks."
