After a week of hacking their way through the lethal jungles of Phyrr, the team get close to the ruins. Hours earlier, a shuttle had roared past close overhead - someone else was racing toward the prize. Weapons fire could be heard in the distance. Was their more than one person seeking the prize? Answers lay a mere hundreds of meters... but those meters were filled with the deadly fauna and flora of Phyrr.

Severian - SA

Severian looks a mess. Metallic appendages dirty and discolored from organic acids, suit punctured and battered, joints whirring in protest against the catalogue of small maintenance issues his chassis has accrued. But upon hearing the gunfire ahead, one could swear that his eye-lenses glow with something that in a normal man would be called fury.

"I care not who they are, Imperial, heretic, alien or mutant," Severian declares, voicebox grating. He racks the chamber of his shotgun, and picks up his pace. "I will not have us leave here empty-handed. I will scourge this jungle single-handed if I have to!"

Suit covered in plant goo and similarly marked with acid stains, Acantha looks at Severian and then draws her other sword. She twirls both in her wrists and settles them into a firm grip as her eyes also take on a light. Not of fury but of anticipation.

"My blades have not tasted of pure food for days." She licks her lips and gives a cold grin at the others and then slides forward, picking up speed. "They hunger for a feast. For the Emperor!"

Kastian was similarly battered. He gripped his sword and drew his bolt pistol. Nothing really needed to be said. If their objective hadn't given them any motivation, this planet had given them all they needed, and then some. They weren't going to die on this hateful ball of dirt, not with any hope of completing their mission ahead of them.

All he could do now was fight alongside everyone else... He began to chant The Litany of Hate.

Storming out of the jungle, the team met heavy resistance as the stormtroopers put up a blistering defense - raining down grenades and bullets upon the team. Severely wounded, the team managed to kill the troopers outside the temple only to find their path blocked by solid stone doors wedged shut.

Taking care of their wounds, the team managed to get the door open and killed the few defenders in the hallway. They could hear voices from the next door working on something and setting up a defense. Cleverly, the team came upon an idea of throwing a canister of promethium into the room beyond and making it explode.

This worked as it decimated the troopers within - the team charged in and fought the remaining few taking them down relative ease. They discovered an old friend - the commissar they encountered from their first mission. Looking around, the team discovered a rune puzzle the commissar and his team would trying to decipher. Severian accessing his databanks, deciphered the runes and plugged in the right combination revealing a secret entrance.

The team descended into the room and found a rune wall which told a legend from Eldar history. This gave the team vital clues as to where the part might be located. The team used a meltabomb to destroy the wall and ventured back into the jungle.

Arriving at the entrance to the underground tunnels, the team descended into the darkness and fought their way to the secret location of the Web Pathway. Moving into the pathway, they found several objects, but also were greeted by a Eldar Harlequin. He bade the team to "choose their doom" by picking one of the four objects.

Zeevja used her psychic abilities and scanned the objects leading the team to choose the metal one. Once chosen, the team blacked out and found themselves back at their shuttle within the Mechanicuis prison. Entering the shuttle and preparing for lift off, the team found the prisoner they agreed to take off the planet sleeping contently in one of the chairs.

(OOC - I leave it at this point for you to decide whether to honor the bargain with the prisoner. Please rp it here)

Cradling the strange cube all the way back from the ruins, Sev happily steps inside the shuttle, safe at last - only to realise the convict is still there. Eyeing him beadily through his lenses, the techpriest's body-language is that of vague irritation.

"Exactly what did you intend to do with this man again, Garm?" he asks the guardsman.

Entering the craft as Severian spoke, Acantha also turned to look at the prisoner. Eyes their usual expressionless orbs, she tilted her head and looked the man up and down in an assessing manner. Her tongue was visible briefly as she swiftly licked her lips.

"I am able to resolve the situation expediently, if that is required."

Garm - Ayram

Garm had willed himself to forget about the man. He figured there was a small chance of them coming back alive anyway. In truth, he'd only said what the prisoner wanted to hear. If their chances of survival rose by even a tenth of a percent, then it was his duty to hear what the man had to say.

So Garm made the deal, not really caring what happened to the man afterward. It's not like he was going to go free. If they let him live here, he was going to go aboard an Inquisitor's ship. There his chances would be grim... maybe even more grim than on the death world. His fate could easily be up to the captain, or the inquisitor himself.

Neither case would be good for him. The best Garm could think of happening to him would be that they turn him into a laborer on the ship. Basically a slave. And if they didn't just shoot him like they very well could, they could turn him into a servitor.

After being on the Death world for so long, Garm was exhausted and was tempted to stop caring what happened to the ill fated prisoner. And yet... Being a Guardsman was a purely thankless job. Often the only people that ever looked out for you or respected you were other Guardsmen. The Emperor saw fit to put Garm in a position to influence this man's fate, for better or worse.

"Leave him be. Even if we don't get rid of him here, his chances aren't good. He'll be in the report, and his fate will be up to the Inquisitor, if not the captain before him. But I won't be the one to deny him the chance.

His fate will be in The Emperor's hands for now."

Sev looks skeptical. Or, rather, he tilts his head at a precise 20-degree angle, and his voicebox takes on a slightly higher pitch. "I doubt the Inquisitor will feel particularly appreciative of us bringing such inconsequential matters before him. But, very well." One gets the impression that the tech-priest is rolling his eyes behind his lenses, as he clanks inside to secure the Necron item.

"At least find out why he was a resident of this world before we mention it to Lord Dane," he calls over his shoulder.

Acantha's eyes followed Sev and then looked back at Garm, tilting her head again. "Would you like me to do that instead?"
