NWN 2 - Sundays
Elaura's mother is doing well and we're both mostly recovered from the past few weeks so we should be playing tonight provided the weather doesn't send us another bad lightning storm like it did last night: our power went out for about 5 minutes. I have a UPS, but I wouldn't expect the battery to last more than 5-10 minutes. If the power does go out for more than a few minutes, I'll have to save and quit before my computer shuts off. It's nice and sunny right now with some clouds, but nothing like last night.
Re: NWN 2 - Sundays
Hi, I had a great time and am looking forward to next week.
I mentioned Skywing's "Client Extension". Skywing rewrote a great deal of the network code which made the game far more stable. It fixes most of the multiplayer crashes (caused by various vfx, active spells, and more), optimizes area loading to make it quicker and more efficient, makes the game run smoother, added features to the DM client and DMFI client, and numerous other fixes and features. It fixes and adds so many things that the readme is quite long. It is well worth reading about what is fixed.
I simply use it to make the game more stable. When it is first started, an area map window opens, as well as a command prompt window. I don't use either of these and close them.
It's easy to install. Just put the included files "NWLauncher.exe" and "ClientExtension.hdl" into your install directory. Next, have your NWN2 shortcut point to "NWLauncher.exe" instead of "nwn2main.exe". Simply start NWN2 with the new shortcut and join a game.
Link to the program (current version is 1.0.0.20):

Re: NWN 2 - Sundays
Thanks for the link, Axe Edge. I'm sure Tinbender will appreciate it.
Re: NWN 2 - Sundays
tinbender is confident using a different computer will help. His profile at neverwinterconnections shows he knows what he is talking about. Almost 33,000 experience points
, that's awesome.
Last thing about the client extension. Many buff effects end when going through transitions. The client extension fixes this which could be crucial in "no rest" modules.

Re: NWN 2 - Sundays
The mod is a limited rest one. We can rest safely in any inn, but nowhere else in town. We can rest anywhere outside of town, but run the risk of an encounter - that's why those wolves attacked us outside of the cave last time. I tried to rest and triggered that encounter. I'll remember to be more careful next time.
Re: NWN 2 - Sundays
Thanks for the link. I'll try that as well as another machine.

Re: NWN 2 - Sundays
Do we all need to have the new process in place? I didn't get it.
Ready to play tonight.

Re: NWN 2 - Sundays
I don't think so, Mac. It's a third party program that changes the network code, it doesn't affect the mod at all. I wouldn't worry about it unless you're having connection issues.
Re: NWN 2 - Sundays
Please remind me if I forget that we need a couple of raise dead scrolls and at least 2 healing kits for each of us. We should get those before we buy anything else because I don't have any more of those raise dead coins.
