Daylight savings time begins in the U.S. next month, which means our clocks will be moving an hour ahead. I don't mind moving the game time back an hour if DST is going to cause problems with anybody. Thanks.

Axe, how'd you like that Trollslayer fire sword in action?

I like it.

KF had a bit of a setback. We sent him a copy of the platinum edition but it appears that someone(s) in his apartment complex took it for themselves to sell. We're filling a claim with Amazon to get our money back and he's planning on probably picking it up this weekend. He may or may not be joining us this Sunday. But if he doesn't, he should be with us next Sunday.

When we get back to town, I'm going to load up the game offline and add some stuff to the merchants that we can buy like better armor, weapons, magical missiles, and healing kits. This whole having a bunch of money and nothing to by business is getting old.

The Trollslayer”. The name tends to bring to one’s mind false preconceptions of its fiery power. The full majesty of its power has been veiled, until recently. Longing to begin a common destiny forged by “The Ages”, Trollslayer has finally found the wielder (or is it companion?) for which it was intended. If those who behold Trollslayer within Gran’s stone grip were to study more closely, they would notice it is not a "grip", but a caress. Trollslayer is finally home.

A simple, misplaced wood elf from the borders of the The High Forest once told tale of the duo’s beginnings. Seeking the Heartstone Gem to end an evil looming over Kalduhar (an important note: few survive the frigid clime while traveling to the protection if its mighty tree), Gran and his companion, Trollslayer, entered the caverns of the Dragon’s Eye. As soon as Gran brushed the cold from his shoulders, the new alliance began their interwoven destiny. A noxious odor began to permeate the space within the constricting subterranean tunnel. Gran glanced left and motioned an alert to Kane (whose heroic tales are far too long to be told while seated around this same campfire tonight). Suddenly, the blackness of the tunnel became darker. Gran could just make out the outline of a shape, twice as high as he, lumbering two arm’s lengths away. As if blessed with foresight, Gran quickly stepped back with his left foot. One might think this was a retreat. The move was indeed an attack. With one motion, as he stepped back, Gran unsheathed Trollslayer and sliced horizontally, at shoulder level. The rest of Gran’s party stood amazed at what they were witnessing. Trollslayer had sliced cleanly from hip to hip as it lit the target. The light, from what resembled a belt of flame, enabled the features of the troll to be seen. The confused look upon the targets hideous face became more bewildered when its legs began to stagger forward causing the torso to become misaligned. A moment later, the hips fell forward toward Gran and the torso fell to the left toward Kane (It must be said that Kane took a free whack at the torso). The separated pieces continued to burn until nothing was left. Gran looked toward his party and laughed. The sight of the party standing open-mouthed reminded him of the numerous bass he fished from a river during his childhood.

In Jerrin’s journals (yes, the same mage who brought order and goodness to these parts of Faerun, and freed the peoples in southern Lusk) mentions another of Gran’s and Trollslayer’s wondrous achievements. Deep within the same cavern, the Dragnon’s Eye revealed a truly black, evil cult. Growing weary from many battles, Gran was revitalized by the thought of righting a wrong he had the misfortune to witness. Gran and his party had just liberated a large group of townsfolk used as a herd to feed a band of lizardmen. With the newfound strength, Gran and his party cut through the evil cult quickly. The fall of the cult is heroic, but what came next was unimaginable. The party continued to search the caverns for the gem. Ahead, Linnie (a good rogue to befriend, but mind your wares) signaled she cleared a trap and spied something moving in the dark. The party began to move toward Linnie, but a feeling caused Gran to stop. He learned not to ignore the subtle impressions sent to him by Trollslayer. Instinctively, Gran whirled quickly to the right as he brought Trollslayer’s pommel against his beating heart with the blade straight out. When he had spun 180 degrees, he stepped hard with his right foot and punched Trollslayer straight forward. Thirsty, the mystical blade speared straight into the troll’s chest until the hilt stopped the momentum. Gran and the troll stood face to face. Gran glanced at the shaman’s jeweled ceremonial necklaces hanging motionless from its neck (more than likely, the beast found the necklaces). Kane saw a silent scream emitting from the shaman as something about its chest seemed out of place. The fiery blade was not visible, which was unusual. The shaman looked down as his chest began to slowly grow larger. After a moment (or two), and seeing hate filling the doomed troll’s eyes, Gran withdrew Trollslayer as he spun hard left, leading with his battered shield. Striking the shaman’s left side with the shield, a clap of thunder erupted (Bogh believed there was going to be cave-in) as the shaman exploded into thousands of tiny smoldering flakes. The shaman was gone. Linnie, Jerrin, Bogh, and Kane marveled at the beauty of the glowing embers floating about the large chamber, seemingly hesitant to find a place of rest. The mild air current lifted and swirled the embers very slowly. The warm, luminescent, and independent “snowflakes” were almost inviting the party to dance among them. All thoughts of the dangers remaining within the cave were forgotten by the party. The gentle shower reminded Linnie of the beautiful spectacle she witnessed when two fairies were betrothed. Amid the swirl, Gran turned slowly with his arms out to his sides until he faced the rest of his party. He dropped to a knee with Trollslayer on its point before him. Looking at Trollslayer, for the first time Gran understood his purpose. Unbeknownst to the rest of the party, the necklaces had vanished (Linnie lovingly patted a new bulge in her pocket).

"Yes, it is a true injustice referring to Trollslayer as being merely a sword. Bards regard Trollslayer as a brush for its artist, Gran. I say Trollslayer is the artist's right arm."

"Now, I will become quiet, at peace, lose my thoughts within this campfire, and I will finish my grog."

*As the light of the campfire revealed the trees surrounding the camp, the stars overhead sparkled in the clear night sky, and the wolves in the distance beckoned the moon to bring them home, a gentle giggle could be heard. One last thought came to the teller of tales, "Bogh, that simple-minded elf. His favorite part about Trollslayer was Kane's trick of using it for roasting marshmellows from the inside"*

FYI

There is a good chance I will be a little late or possibly even miss this Sundays session. I am hoping things will work in such a way that I can make it. My schedule is changing just not sure what to yet. I hope the new member is making a healer as I may have to bow out soon.

KF's planning on making a druid and should be joining us this weekend. If you can't make it, Tin, don't worry about it. If you have to bow out, it's been nice playing with you and we'll miss Kane. :(

I've been talking to the mod author and he said that the last module is in beta testing right now. After it's released, we'll need to download it so we can finish the campaign. I'm fairly sure that we have a ways to go, but we're further in than I ever got in the original game so I don't know. I'll make sure to save often just in case we do need the mod but don't have it.

I've made it pretty far in the PC version. We are not half way yet.
Still lots of fun to come.
I will miss you, Tin. I hope all is going well for you and that we get to play again someday.

Sorry for the abrupt disconnect, but the game said my character was refused because it had an invalid feat. I'll try an online game before next Sunday to make sure it doesn't happen again.

There are. I tried it without enforce legal characters and it worked just fine. Axe Edge should be back next week and KF should be joining us as well. I'll need to figure out how that damned DM client works though because Obsidian decided to change it as well. Bastards.
