Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread

The young heroes had made it, they had reached Argos. Their mentors would be proud of them. They had survived strange labors and had faced creatures as exotic as crocodile, sphynx, sprite, witch, satyr and demons. They had even assisted no less than a Spartan unit holding a bridge in the mountain. The Gods had granted them gifts and all was as good as it could be.
Ahead of them was a huge wall made of stones. Hundreds of slaves were probably involved in building it and tons of rocks had to be transported, carved and put together to shape the massive structure build around the city to defend it would barbarians or perhaps Persians dare to attack it.
The group visited a few places in the huge town. After seeing the great wall, Andreas was still impressed by the size of Argos, the buildings all made of stones, the paved streets, the numerous merchants, the people with clothes of various colors and mix of fabrics, the smells some good some less so. They eventually got an audience with the Elders. There was something going on and they were sent to assist a sculptor. Then man told them about odd things taking place preventing him to get the stones he needed to work. Soon later then entered something like a mine searching for missing people and perhaps some clues. Things went so fast that Andreas had little if any time to react. The place was haunted. A group of ghost was trying to kill them. They got separated some of them chasing one of the ethereal creature. It was a trap and brave Telemachus paid for that mistake with his life. Perhaps some magic could help revive him else they would have to let him journey to the next world.

Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread
Telemachus felt like he was floating. There was no other sensation, no sight or sound, just a vague sensation of floating. He tried to remember how he arrived here.. there was a ghostly figure, and he'd nearly caught up to it and then there were a lot more suddenly and every direction he looked, a knife seemed to hit him from behind. He felt OK now though. it was quite comfortable, just floating. But he was starting to get bored, where was the way back to Argos?

Shame to speak ill of the dead," Polytropos quipped mordantly. "So I just hope he can come back, so we can tell him what an ass he just was."
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread
They had done it. They had defeated the offspring of a cursed woman as requested by the temple of Hera in payment for the life of Telemachus. Damien was ready to pay almost any price, but he never thought the price would be so...specific. Still, they had triumphed and Damien was able to call lightning! He and Ismene had talked about his strong connection to nature, but never did he feel he could call upon it in aid. And transforming into a bear. He thought he understood how Aias thought, but it wasn't until he transformed during the battle in which Telemachus that he fully understood his furry friend. He idly scratched Aias' ears as he stared into the campfire. "I won't take you for granted, my friend," he whispered before leaning on the bear's side and falling fast asleep.

Andreas had been told that for most people dying was a one way trip to another realm. The boatman would take the departed across the river Styx to join his ancestors. But heroes could have it some other way would the Gods be willing to give them another chance. And so they did. A high priest or priestess could channel some divine powers and bring a dear friend back from the dead. Praise the Olympian Gods the heroes were once more united.
They had to pay a price. They ventured in remote caves defended by a few snakes an other aberrations but at the end they returned to Argos victorious.
"That did not go too bad don't you think?"

"We are all here and upright, and we were successful," Katamarene stated proudly, "Of course it didn't go badly." She tossed her mane of dark hair and flashed a grin at any around them she thought might prove to be an interested audience. "The quest was a success, and it can only enhance our standing with the most influential priesthood of Argos. That's no little matter, but we still have scores to settle and a wider name to make."
"I, for one, wish to pursue our grievance against that gang of ne'er-do-well thugs, success in which might prove a boon to the city and one source of acclaim, but ..." she paused and gestured to the arena "... there might lie our quickest means of the same."

Leonaidas had decided he didn't like magic, at least of the hostile sort. The snake woman had nearly killed him with her strange spells. He would have to be more careful about how close he got to sorcerers in the future. At least they'd gotten Tel back, apparently no worse for the wear. He hadn't gotten any loot of the trip, but at least he had some material for an epic tale.

"It'd be something," Polytropos mumbled, looking a little grouchy. "We'll likely be back in the city just in time for the celebrations over whoever won. Chances are whatever deed we do'll be a bit overshadowed there. Here's hoping we get back without suffering the wrath of another grieving demigod."
