"Bad things keep coming up from that damned hole in the ground. I don't like it, it goes too deep. Whole village could be sitting on a passage to the underworld for all we know. And way out here in the middle of nowhere there's nothing we can do for them in an emergency.. We really should see if we can convince them to move to Heropolis, there's lots of space, the land's good, and they'd be safer."
"At least the danger is over for now though, I used up most of my supplies as well though, we'll definitely have to make a trip into Argos to resupply. We've also got these crystal things to think about, should we take them to the forge of hephaestus on our way?"

"Absolutely," said Polytropos, with a pompous air, "the spoils are ours to take!" He held up one of the crystals in the half-light glow of the cavern. "Who wants one of these? Uh... assuming the forge would still be unlocked," he added with a guilty thought. "I left the key to it in a bowl at a shrine to Hermes..."

"What would I do with a crystal shard?" asked Andreas who had almost forgotten the deadly encounter with the big dragon...

Leonaidas was glad he'd bought that belt which protected him from fear; it'd kept his wits about him and allowed him to evade the dragon while many of the others were cowering or fleeing in fear. He was disappointed they hadn't found a horde in the dragon's lair. At least he'd managed to snag a magical crystal which he hoped he could use to enhance his bow down the road.

Damian leaned towards Aias and whispered in his ear: "Aias, the next time I ask Eleni to play a game of chess, I'd like you to grab Andreas by the hair and drag him away. You can also pull Tel out along with you." He smiled and stood, turning to the others. "Now that the dragon is dead, are we going to the forge? I could use a better weapon - this one doesn't seem to be able to penetrate the hides of the creatures we keep running into."

"We have a satyr to take care of first, Damian," Eleni said, resolutely. "The weapons from the forge might help, but he's tried to go after Mantineia already. We can't risk not be here to protect the village. I hope we're all agreed on that?"

Kataramene broke off a whispered conversation with Polytropos to speak up. "I agree with you, Eleni. The vendetta from the satyr has gone on long enough, and requires ending one way or another." She shook her head. "We can't walk away from this realising he is so intent on killing others to punish us for our slights against him. What kind of heroes would we be if we wandered off to forge new weapons and risked others dying, and doing so just because they know us?"

"It's lucky we came back now," she added, looking back in the direction of the village. "Unfortunate circumstances in one respect, but not so in another." The young woman paused and frowned. "Remind me again. Exactly how did Aristarchus pass away? Do we know?"

The centaurs were not very hospitable hosts, considering past favors done and their current problems. That satyr was to blame of course and it was high time they took care of him once an for all. In fact, he might have a bit of stuff hoarded up from all the folks he had harassed; it could turn out to be a potentially profitable mission.
