Telemachus looked at the mess of crystal shards scatters on the floor. "Well that could have gone better... We did manage to improve some of our weapons at least, and we found some useful equipment in the elemental worlds, so it hasn't been a waste of time. We should see if we can be of service to any of the other gods, and whether they might also reward us for doing so."

Leonaidas was a bit miffed that the gods had failed to empower his weapon; all that work for nothing. Well, he did use his bow most of the time anyhow, though he was wondering if he might have to rethink that, given the gods didn't seem to care much for archers in the gifts they bestowed. At least a couple weapons had been blessed at least, so the frontline warriors were mostly happy.

Eleni had never much cared for the gods. Oh, she was no fool - she knew they existed, and knew better than to offend them. But they had never struck her as beings worthy of worship, wrapped up as they were in their own little dramas and tragedies - not so different from mortals, all in all, merely writ large.

Actually meeting them had failed to change her perspective on matters. But she had no choice but to respect their power - power she and her friends would need if they were to survive the trials ahead.

"Let's. I just hope we don't have to get involved in any more marital squabbles - that hasn't turned out particularly well for us in the past."

"I don't know, Eleni," said Polytropos, who had found a broom from somewhere and was helping Hephaestus's assistants sweep up shards of crystal. "If we keep up like this, the Gods might just decide that they're better off doing whatever it is themselves."

He shrugs apologetically in the direction of the smith-god. "Heroes don't seem to be made heroes for being able to fix things, you know? We're more in the breaking-things mould. Armies, curses... magic items... promises... faces..."

Andreas was happy he had managed to enchant his old staff without destroying the crystal. Would his feats not deliver the kind of punch he expected, he could fall back and use the staff.

OOC

Back at home but very tired after a long week of work.
Never had to do a public presentation and a tv interview in the same day.

In case I play, I will request to leave early (still got to work tomorrow). If not, let us catch up the next time.

"Cheer up friends!" says Zokos. "There is something to be said for a clarity of purpose. I'd rather be on deck with the rudder in my hand, than below deck with no way to see where we are headed."

He squats to pick up a tiny shard of broken crystal from the pile. "Besides, would you rather be bored on a hot beach somewhere, or on the deck of a sturdy ship with honest work to do and a cool wind filling the sails?" he says as he stands, with a sincere smile on his face.

"Regardless," adds Kataramene, looking with disappointment at the remains of the crystals around the Forge, "we need to do the best we can to be equipped as well as we can. We never know what might be needed."

She pulls out the necklace Aphrodite gave them and then over at the smith god. "Perhaps more than we would like."
