Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3
Moderator:Lazybones
((I will have a mess either tomorrow or Friday and see what I can do. We need to test if we can upload new versions of the module easily and stop and restart the server, as we'd need to be able to do that if it crunches and T isn't around.))
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3
// I'm not likely to be able to make the game on Saturday as I've got to work, but I've got tomorrow off, and I'll see what I can do about setting all of that up.
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3
The latest version of the mod I posted should be good almost to the end of the campaign (I'm only still working on an optional final quest), a few months of play at least.
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3
((Got it working on the remote server, I thought, but - fortuitously if rather belatedly - thought to test the DM connection this morning. While I can log in as a playing trying as a DM results in a black screen. It lets you select the DM avatar but then stalls, possibly because DM Avatars are local characters or possibly because of port access. Still trying, but may not be able to get this resolved without the server owner, who I can't contact until T is around..... ))

((Still no joy, and I have to head out and do the dreaded Saturday shopping. IP is 198.204.251.146 usual password. Just in case it's something local to me check if you can connect, LB, and if not post and I'll host game.))

OOC
Just logged onto the server. Hope DMs will be able to get in as well

"How many immortals we have to find and send back home?"
Andreas was confident that they had the skills and the equipment required to succeed but still it was always better to be safe than sorry. Going through his things he counted the number of healing supplies he had before taking a large flask and drink some of what was inside.

Polytropos speaks up from a corner, still bandaging up bruises and dripping salve onto them. "No idea, Andreas," he says. "At least - what was it? A dozen? Can't... quite remember..." he looks uncertain for a moment, before shaking his head clear of worry. "It's not them I'm worried about so much as the armies of thugs that they seem happy to conjure up, or the turning of farmers into deadly soldiers with flashing blades. That stuff... that's just rough." He grimaces.
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3
"There are a dozen or so names on the list, yes," Eleni said, with a trace of doubt in her voice. "But some of them refer to groups of scions, like the scions of manslaughter we killed several times over or the little ones responsible for the feud. For the sake of our sanity, let us assume all of those cling together - that would mean we can scratch four off the list, so far."
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3
I tried to login and had the same problem, solid black screen that I couldn't interact with.
A few google searches turned up the following suggestion from the Diamond Edition Readme file:

Another page said to check the Override folder, as that can sometimes be the source of load freezes. Though if it's a fresh install there shouldn't be anything there. I have no idea why it would only affect the DM Client. There is a known issue where the game crashes to a black screen after choosing a character (or creating a new character) and clicking play. One possible cause of this is if your computer has a corrupted "temp" folder in the Neverwinter Nights directory (or a file called "temp" with no file extension). Deleting or renaming the “temp” file/folder should fix the problem.
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3
((Dammit. I have a feeling it's to do with ports, as the DM client uses a different one from the players. You wouldn't notice the change until after avatar selection as the DM avatar is local not server side. Back to plan B, but I'll see if I can get it sorted for next week. If not then it's back to my leaving my machine running.))
