X-COM: Aliens
Moderator:Lazybones
I only mentioned dedicated so we'd have at least one pilot, but you might want to leave the flying to Shadani, VM. I think we'll all be safer that way.
Re: X-COM: Aliens
Also I should note that I have no problem with the group being slanted more in one direction than another, rather than creating two of each type. If you guys want to play 7 Toughs and a Dedicated, fine by me. (hmm, Snow White in reverse...)
Re: X-COM: Aliens
The tilesets are available at https://app.box.com/s/w53r1x6b7tw9kcxn4ubi. There's only three files in the ZIP; you should already have Worms's Seasonal Forest v10 from Heroes of the Peloponnese, and the others should all be in the d20 Modern set.
EDIT: Make that three files. When I tried to remove the Extreme tileset from the module (none of the current areas use it), the resulting module crashes 100% of the time on loading. I have updated the file on the Box account to include all 3 of the Worms haks.

I've updated the first post to summarize the player preferences thus far.
Here's a post to get you started on RP:
Here's a post to get you started on RP:
For now, go ahead and pick names when you create your characters. They can be something simple ("Strong," "Unit 1," "R5") or complicated ("Utak-Navakas," "J'kek'tok'azak," "R22-N14 Blue Sinister") as you see fit. The Masters may give you other names, but for now, what you come up with is how you see yourself. Perhaps the ability to choose your own designation will be the first of the Masters' many gifts to their new elite servants.Your world is the creche.
In the creche, you are vaguely conscious of the self. You know that you were created to serve the Masters. Obedience to the Masters is as easy as breathing. Once your body is advanced enough that you begin breathing. You have little conception of time, but know that you are developing very quickly. The creche takes care of all your needs.
You know that something else is coming, something besides the creche. That is why you were created. Why the Masters gave you life in the creche.
But there are other things, disturbing things. Flashes of knowledge enter your awareness, facts that take hold in your mind without a background narrative to give them context. They are disorienting, these snippets of information, but you take some solace in the fact that the Masters want you to have them.
Even more disturbing are the other flashes. Flashes of independent thought. Suggestions that you might be... something more.
Soon you will leave the creche. Somewhere beyond it lies answers to the most fundamental of questions.
What am I?
Re: X-COM: Aliens
If we're going to follow a numerical or similar system we should probably decide that first. I was thinking I might go for something descriptive in terms of a chosen name. I can't imagine we'd have a lot of reference for anything more complicated. Not like we've got a family history.
Whatever we go with, I think it'd be better if we used the same system for designations. It'll be a bit immersion breaking if one of us is "UNT:21242" and one of us is "bob 1"

Re: X-COM: Aliens
I can Leto name changes on later if anyone wants them, so your initial designation doesn't have to be the one you keep forever. LB can, if he likes, tell us what those designations will be?
And being anal retentive about that kind of stuff, yeah - I think uniformity would be cool!

Re: X-COM: Aliens
To add to the pile of ideas....
What if we all start out with the same name? Say, "Sectoid" or "Newborn". Or maybe just "It". Individual designations can come later (probably at the end of the first session).

Re: X-COM: Aliens
I don't have anything firm yet, but I've been pondering ideas. If you want to use a standard system, you can use, "Autonomous Clone #", with the # being a sequence from 1-8. Or "Autonomous Clone"+Class+#, such as "Autonomous Clone Strong 1," "Autonomous Clone Dedicated 5," and the like. "ACS1" or "ACD5" for short. AckSeeOne or AckDeeFive in common parlance, perhaps.Vanya Mia wrote:LB can, if he likes, tell us what those designations will be?
But I'm happy to take suggestions. Shadani's idea could be fun, if a bit confusing. Hey, Sectoid! No, you, the other Sectoid! No, I didn't mean for you all to come over...
Re: X-COM: Aliens
Have to admit I like the idea of combining. Sectoid Clone Fast 1021 might be coming right up!
Anyone against?

Doesn't matter to me. I haven't made my toon yet because I wasn't sure what to name it.
