Sorry, I forgot you weren't in the active group. We finished up the campaign last Saturday and are starting X-COM: Aliens on Nov. 8. If you can't make it that day I'll find a way to fit you in during a later session.

It'd probably be for the best, LB. I may be coming down with another sinus infection and given that I didn't know about the start time, I'd rather not feel like I'm throwing something together at the last minute. I'll join you guys next week.

((So I went with Dedicated. Named the character 'the pale one' for now, since it would probably look less hale than most of its siblings, so far as that makes sense for Sectoids.))

It slept as only the unborn can. Silent, peacefully - and above all, ignorant.

Occasionally, its hand would wander and find the walls of its glass-and-metal womb. It wondered at this, but then the voices in its head would whisper that this was not something it should concern itself with. They told it instead to wait, and grow, and absorb all that it was told.

And so it did. It trusted the voices. For now, it was enough to know that soon, it would be time to awaken. It was not yet sure what this meant, but it looked forward to this with great anticipation.

Seeing as how it's Friday and not Saturday like I originally thought when I woke up this morning, I should be able to make tomorrow's session. I'll pm VM my character sometime this evening and post before the cutoff time.

Remember that for this campaign the cutoff for receiving XP for in-character forum posts is 24 hours before game start. So no need to worry about it at this point. Posts after that point are welcome, of course, they just won't result in an XP award.

I'm sure we'll have our share of glitches to work through tomorrow. I plan on a brief OOC orientation session so if people need to rush and download a missing hak, or send a new character to VM due to a problem that can be handled before the start of actual play.

The IC part of the game will also largely be an orientation, though I do have a brief starting mission set up if we have time to get to it.

I've set the module's XP multiplier to 1%. The overwhelming majority of XP awards will be granted for successfully completing missions. There will be no XP penalty for dying (at least in the initial stages of the campaign), so keep that in mind.

Hushed whispers gather around and a voice is heard. "This one is ready."

Warmth, quiet, and solitude are suddenly broken. Surging currents take the fluid away, and suddenly there is weight. The lack of fluid around its body feels strange, and the sense of exposure is alarming. It thrashes, keening with vocal chords not used to sound. Recoiling from the sound of its own voice in newly exposed aural cavities, it swiftly covers them with its palms in its first defensive movement.

Reassurance comes in the form of the voices, and it relaxes. Visual receptors open to air for the first time and blink rapidly in the sudden light, fighting to make sense of the clarity of a world no longer seen through the colloidal fog of the amniotic suspension. Lifted from the tank by the umbilical harness its head darts to the source of every small sound, seeking to make sense of the blending of telepathic connection with the fresh awareness of alternative senses.

The sense of touch is overwhelming as its feet touch the ground outside the tank and attendants move to remove the connecting cannulas and wires from it's skin, and wash away the residue of the development process, and inspect its physical form for flaws. Gradually identifying the source of each individual voice, it focuses visual reception on the one commanding it's attention, as it is assisted to stand without support.

"It is now your time."

((Posted anyway, even if outside time, something I simply haven't had this week. Following in the theme of Shad's name choice I'm going Fast and calling it "The Nimble One", with the intention of being scout equivalent probably, which is inevitably going to mean I fail every associated skill role and end up being renamed The Clumsy One! :D ))

That's fine, LB. I wasn't sure I'd be playing anyway because I thought yesterday was Friday. Anyway, I named my character "The Strong One" and sent it to VM. I'll see everybody tomorrow morning.
