The Quiet One focused on the lab. It knew somehow that the long term success of everything depended on understanding and knowledge, not just of the Human technology but of the entire situation. There were many questions forming it its young mind, most of which it kept itself. For now it focused on the work at hand and followed Fast's suggestions.

The lab was working better now, they had definitely made improvements, but there were still parts that could be improved further. Quiet pointed out these things to both Pale and Fast when the opportunity presented itself, "We must learn to succeed."

//OOC Craft Mechanical 6, helping with the Lab! Depending on the roll this week, we could have a significant amount of points left over. If we do then continuing to Tier 3 might make sense, rather than wasting them.

I have to head out to work; if someone sneaks in a post before the deadline I'll amend the below.

* * *

Week 5

Project: Improved Manufacturing 1

Research Points (RP) Needed: 3

Project Leader: The Pale One: Knowledge Physical 8, ROLL 19, Result 27
Project Support (all roll vs. DC20 to assist leader):
The Fast One: Craft Mechanical 7, ROLL 11, Result 18
The Strong One: Craft Structural 6, ROLL 7, Result 13
The Quiet One: Craft Mechanical 6, ROLL 10, Result 16

Research Earned: 10 (base) + 27 (project leader) + 0 (support) = 37 points

Impoved Manufacturing earned! Grants +2 to production of consumables each week. +200xp for completing a Level 2 project.
34 extra points banked if you continue working in the Advanced Support domain this week.

The next upgrade is Improved Research Techniques (40RP). Allows the party to switch research domains while retaining 50% of earned RP. Also allows party members to add +3 instead of +2 to a research support roll if they hit DC25 on their check (you still get +2 on a DC20).

* * *

The Pale One returns to the role of leader with an odd focus. It communicates little, but the other clones can sense its intensity. Even though few of the others come to the lab to help, perhaps distracted by their own deep thoughts, the pale clone is able to greatly advance the work, improving the techniques by which the clones' field gear is produced.

((.... bugger, by post from work didn't take. Oh well. :( I'll post again, in case it's okay.))

This time the nimble one turns it's attention to the "whizzer", aka a rechargeable electric hand whisk. Brandishing a kitchen tool it pulls apart the mechanism, streamlining it and manufacturing a complex series of key like mechanisms powered by an adaptation of several batteries. The sectoid looks up triumphantly at the end of the construction, holding the whirring and clicking machine up for all to see.

"This work for everything!" it crowed.

The Scowling One was true to its name as it returned to work, aiding the team whilst full of rue. Its thoughts were easy to read - resentment at its death, though this was tempered with a certain cruel satisfaction at the thought of it exploding and harming the humans. But one thought that would not be dislodged was the pain the Elder had brought - and the implied threat of it held over the Scowling One's head. Humiliation. One will imposed upon another. The Scowling One understood these things... and was not best pleased to be the one on the receiving end. The other clones could read all this, as it worked... and gradually subsumed its anger under a cloud of general resentment.

((guuuh, busy week, just got in. Phys Sci 3, as before, just in case that counts))

//crap I thought I posted helping last week. Guess I forgot to include the bit about rolling.

The wild one was excited that they'd finally made some progress on the lab, he flittered from one work area to another, moving tools around, poking ongoing experiments, and just enjoying the feeling that they'd learnt something on their own.

VM must have forgotten to change it back. I was wondering where everyone was. I'm sure she'll post here once it's fixed.

Fix lab! //roll craft mech 4

The wild one disgruntledly hammered and screwed things together in the lab as he worked with the others on upgrading the facilities once more. He couldn't understand why they'd been punished. They achieved their objectives, and then more by bringing back samples of the damaged sectoids and the human data storage. How were they to know the humans would destroy one of them at the last moment? It just didn't seem.... Fair.

//Craft structural 7.

"Yes! Finish lab, then work on human language!"

Still smarting over the treatment the clones received, the Strong One set to work on expanding the lab. Why they were punished, he didn't know, but he was starting to resent it. It wasn't their fault that the last human destroyed the data core, they shot as soon as they saw him. Still, they destroyed the malfunctioning clones and blew up the base without anybody being destroyed in the process and he took satisfaction in that. If the Masters weren't please, well, that was their problem and not his. He felt as if he was on the verge of understanding, so maybe the future held more promise.

//Question: the reaper and munton berserker say melee only. Does that mean no plasma pistols?
