Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

// I saved a draft earlier but have no idea how to open it //
What a strange day. After meeting a giant the devoted went to what appeared to be a Dwarven tomb. The place was haunted and they could not defeat the undead. So they left and went to a barren village. Once in the inn Pius wished for some quiet time with his friends to prepare for their next battle in the tomb or the swamp. Instead, the battle came to them as the people in the inn were all infected and turned into werebeasts before wrecking havoc in the main room. The situation quickly got bloody and confused. Pius shouted "Fall back! Fall back! We are outnumbered! Regroup in the courtyard!"
A moment later he was out with a few of his friends but three of them were missing. The situation was rather gloom.
// I feel like I can't write in proper English anymore when it comes to non business related stuff. O crap!

Shanni stirred, head shaking slightly. Her head was making no sense. She shook it again.
There'd been a hint something was wrong. The mercenary leader had said his men hadn't come back, so she'd expected to find they had something going on when they weren't dead. Just not this. The feeling that something was wrong had triggered but too late to do anything sensible with it, and the nature of that "something wrong" had not been expected.
One minute she had been dodging the seeming advances of a half-orc as politely as possible, and looking for a way to move from their vicinity the next fighting hard with no time to prepare. And no where to flee. Seeing the others pressed in their actions, and trying to get close enough to pull Suula away and help, when a smash from behind just left her in darkness.
She groaned a little, eyes closed face pressed down on something soft. But the smell of canine was powerful.
Hearing her sister muttering she breathed deeply with relief, and instantly regretted taking in a huge gasp of lycanthropic scented air. She rolled over and looked around, spotting Suula by there door.
"Don't think I've ever had that extreme a response to rejected advances before." Shanni gave a rueful smile, then closed her eyes and swung into a posture of supplication. "Lady, we could really do with your help in what we attempt next, and yeah - I know we have to try first but a bit of a hint would be appreciated." She looked over at Suula and gave a shadow of a grin. "You work your angle on them and I'll do the best with mine on us."

Those who managed to get out where standing in front of the main entrance of the inn. The building had two other exits, one on each side. There was little time to think as three Devoted were still trapped inside. A couple of were-beasts moved around the building to attack. They were dispatched...
// Beware of alignment shift though
The group entered the inn in search of the others. After defeating some beasts, they checked upstairs. Nobody was there. There was a locked door they could not open. Pius gave up trying to break it and followed the others. The ground floor was now quiet. He moved towards the basement and rejoined the others. Everyone was alive, that was a relief. The village was now secured but one of the beasts escaped after jumping in the river. A man in full armour would have risked drowning if he had tried to follow...

Toric looked at the boulders blocking the pass to the Stone Giant's lair with his hands on his hips. "Well, don that beat all, eh? Ye don think them overgrown dogs're tryin' ta keep us from doin somethin with this silver, do ye?" he asked the others. "He growled and shook his head. "Lookin like we're gonna have ta find 'nother way 'round. Damn beasts'll prolly 'ave an ambush all ready fer us as well." He looked around. "Keep yer eyes peeled, Elf. 'Last thing I want is ta run smack dab into an ambush. Soon as we be gettin' them new weapons, we can repay them dogs back fer this."
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
"Should we not be more concerned about the giant himself?" Nihmri did not, at the moment, seem particularly concerned about anything at all, but this was far from unusual. "Slaying the smith would be far more troublesome than forcing us to make a slight detour, would you not say? They may be growing worried, now that we have cleared out the fortress. And you know what they say about cornered beasts..."
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
"Concerned about the giant? It's a giant, Nihmri, that's the definition of 'being able to take care of itself.'" Suula sneers in impatience, with a faint growl at the back of her throat. She looks as if she was trying to tune out her sister, and shakes the magic ball she'd been given - the magic ball taken by the wolfwere, and reclaimed by the party. She shook it, and held it up to her ear, only paying half-attention to the others. "Collapsing the rocks is pointless if the giant's in trouble. 'cos if you could kill one of those, then why bother with the rocks? Just lure us into the mountains and set a trap or something. Like the goblin said." She waved a hand in Toric's direction.
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
"Agreed, blocking the path seems like excessive effort if they could simply kill the smith. We shall have to find another way around though. We can pass the town again, but it is likely to be garrisoned with werewolves once more. If there is an alternate route that swings wide, we would do well to find it. We are not prepared to battle them head on yet."
