Toric looked at Pius blankly. "A what now, lad? I think ye attribute more ta me than is there." He shook his head and pulled out a crude map. "If'n me drawin's are correct, an' they may not be, what with ye all blindin' me with yer lights, there was a crypt back by where we came in. Pius an' I saw it, but we didna go in 'cause there was a haunt in there an' Shanni was still missin. Now we all be together 'gain, we can look fer that crypt and see if'n it 'as the staff sos we can get out o' 'ere."

"That must be our next goal then, and we must be swift. We've already seen evidence that the Banites are here and attempting the same. I've no doubt we shall cross paths with them soon, and I'd like us to be ahead of them when we do."

"That is, if we're so inclined to trust the word of some ancient spectre," Nihmri said. "Not that I've a wealth of better ideas, mind you, but we should probably not assume anything we find in this place to be less than treacherous. On the positive side, at least it seems like our erstwhile rivals find it to be no friendlier a place, and they have suffered far more casualties than we. So that's one thing going in our favour, at least."

To find the missing key the group left the maze to explore another crypt. After dealing with a few monsters and traps a dark altar was found and in a nearby room a number of objects but apparently no key.

The group later returned to the bridge locked by metal gates in the maze. As soon as the gates were unlocked Pius and his friends charged the skeleton archers and destroyed them.

Soon after they opened the previously locked door and found another chamber with a sarcophagus guarded by powerful undead warriors. As Pius sword was not effective against them he rushed to the tomb and retrieved a staff. The very thing they were looking for. It was a kind of mage staff.

"I'm going to need a better sword. Fighting with a spoon is no help against these magical creatures."

On the way back a high priest of Bane confronted the group and asked for the staff.

Amathain and Pius told him that he would have to go through them to get it. He did not like the answer and started to cast spells of divine magic.

Pius knocked him down a few times making it easier for his friends to strike the dangerous Banite leader. After a while, the priest stop moving. The fight was not over yet. A man made giant was chasing the others to crush them. Pius grabbed the flail of the dead Banite and started to damage the "giant” taking small pieces one at a time.

At one point he retreated to avoid a fatal blow but soon charged again and eventually the “machine” fell apart...
