"The gods are playing their usual games, yes," Nihmri said, somewhat sourly. "But precisely what part we are to play in the proceedings is unclear to me. I know only a little of Kara Tur, but do they not have gods of their own who can keep track of their legendary blades? You'd think they'd care enough to take an interest, at least..."

"You call it 'Fate'." Suula mutters. "I say rather that it is... Destiny. And another word for that, is Doom." Her eyes take on a faraway, hollow look... and her voice becomes heavy, laden with the burden of would-be prophecy. "The Gods play their games, and we are not the pawns. We're the dice being thrown, tumbling over and over. Cheered when we come up with the right number, and cursed when we do not."

She sweeps an arm around dramatically, to encompass the whole party in her gesture. "Make no mistake, there are only two choices before you... before us. Throw away those swords, and ride far, far away from here, where this Doom will not find us. Or... keep them, and know that in keeping them, there will be pain, and hurt, and Destiny."

This effect is rather undercut by the sound of the stream and some birds tweeting happily in a nearby tree, and Suula scowls to the sky a moment, as if wondering why she didn't get a thunderstorm to say this to.

"It all relates back to the prophecy we were given. I do not know about predestination, but the fate of a nation is a heavy burden. It may well be that some entity or other is steering us into a position where we become involved. I cannot help but expect the next sword to make its way to us soon. We need to work out what must be done with them, when that happens." Amatain went quiet and looked pensive. "I am going to pray for guidance in this matter. I need to know I am following the path Torm would wish of me. I suggest you all do the same, and perhaps we shall have some insight between us."

//Sorry. Between being sick the past few days and my mother falling into the tub last night, I wasn't ready to play so early this morning (9:30 AM for me). I should be around next time.

Just a quick note: I will be traveling on January 30 (in two weeks) so there won't be a session on that day.

We should finish Legends of the Sword Coast next week and then we'll start Against the Giants on February 6.

Another good deed for the devoted.

The group discovered that the little town that was now their temporary home was affected by a plague that had no known cure.

Divine magic such as "remove disease" performed by priest and paladins did nothing. They were told to visit and old lady who might be able to shed some light on the matter.

She mentioned that, the plague was a curse more than a disease and she required leaves to lift it.

Following the directions she gave the group travelled South defeating groups of ogres, wererats and even giants. They found a crypt guarded by spirits. They also defeated them.

Slade and Pius got separated from the group. Pius asked Slade to turn back to join the others but the elf did not listen. He quickly found the others and collected the leaves. It was time to go back.

"If the old lady can make a cure easily Amathain and I may be able to get it quickly to the town folks to save lives with the help of our Holy horses."

As the group trudged towards the next town, Toric fell behind seeming lost in thought. Over the next couple of hours, he fell further and further behind, until eventually he lost sight of the others. Upon reaching the town, he was told the others had already left in pursuit of some monsters terrorizing the area. Grumbling, he entered the inn and paid for a meal and drink and waited for the others to return.

Slade scouted ahead of the party as they pressed on south into the woods. They found a woman who claimed to be able to help them with the plague, but had to take on a host of creatures infesting the woods for ingredients needed for the cure. He skirmished on the flanks of the battle line and managed to evade one or two beasts that attempted to engage him directly. Eventually, all opponents were overcome and the desired components recovered. Sadly, not much loot seemed to have been found, so it looked like another dry spell in that regards.
