It seemed that the party were finally closing on their foe, this sorcerer with the command of elementals and giants, and his unexplained grudge against the city of Mirabar was said to dwell in the tower ahead.
"Ready yourselves and make what preparations you can now my friends, no doubt we have a tough challenge before us." Advised Amathain, hefting his sword and closing his eyes, beginning a silent prayer to Torm.

Suula had begun this journey to the mountains sour and out of sorts, still smarting from the 'mixup' with the Church of Tempus and no happier for a trudge through the snow. But now, the scale of the fortress they were in had worn her down, left her feeling quietly awed. And the shape of the tower against the sky - the Spur - chilled her. From a distance of weeks, her own voice chiled her. The Tower... upheaval... disaster... trouble before us. Her thoughts flashed back to her reading of the cards, in that inn cellar in Timberton, and she remembered what came next.

She reached out for the arm of whoever was closest, face darkened with dread. "We shouldn't go there," she said. "This will end badly, so badly! We need to go and get help... or leave this land."

After leaving his friends to deal with the giants Pius travelled back to the wall as fast as he could. The task proved to be more difficult than what he expected. Several portals had been opened and creatures from the planes were wandering around making it difficult to progress without being noticed. Pius tried several routes but failed to get through. As he was moving backward he noticed a campfire and decided to check it out at least to warn whoever was there about the danger. He wondered who could be foolish enough to start a fire in such a dangerous spot. Soon enough he recognised familiar voices, first Toric, than Suula. He rejoined the group as they were about to engage the roaming creatures...

Full of her own thoughts Shanni started when Suula grabbed at her arm. Turning, already armed with a frown, to snap at her sister she paused when she saw the other woman's face and heard her words. Her own gaze swung slowly to match that of her Suula she stopped standing shoulder to shoulder with her. Identical features both intent on the tower ahead of them, matching in height and posture so that in the snow there was little to tell one from the other.

Except in their expression. A smile slowly lit Shanni's face and her hand slid to take hold of Suula's, the physical connection as firm as any since perhaps their birth broke the closeness of the womb. Shanni clasped Suula's hand with her own and raised them joined before them both.

"Your Lady has shown you what you need to know to prevent that misfortune, not avoid it." Shanni looked directly at her sister. "You're here to rain misfortune down on those who deserve it in her name, and I'm here to ask my Lady to bring the luck we might need to do so." She grinned at Suula and cast her eyes back to the tower.

"That's what it's all for, don't you see?" She continued. "When the Ladies act against one another who can tell whose bounty will hold sway? But when they are united in a cause?" She nodded firmly. "I pity any who try to stand against their blessings when combined."

Nihmri busied herself with the coded maps and messages they'd found, perhaps hoping to glean from them some last minute clue. But she soon concluded that, whoever this master of the elements was, he had covered his tracks well.

"The eyes of the all-seeing will soon be upon him, regardless," she said, mostly to herself. Then she turned to her companions and grinned. "If nothing else, he'll not match us for spirit and blessings divine."

The tower was nearby. There was a chasm ahead that could crossed thanks to a narrow stone bridge. The group started to move forward and was attacked by elementals throwing energy projectiles from elevated positions. This was a clear case of stay and die or run and live. The team swiftly crossed the bridge removing any hostile creature foolish enough to stay on the way and took cover behind a hill. To secure the bridge now behind them only powerful offensive magic or potent projectiles could help. Pius had neither and looked ahead where the mage tower could be seen...

The tower was in excellent condition, well decorated, neat and tidy. It was surprisingly empty. The devoted explored the place all the way to the top floor where a man wearing rich clothes was standing confident that the group was posing no threat.

He explained himself in a rather cryptic way. It seems that he wanted revenge but it was not clear what for. The conversation was going nowhere and he used a magic trick and vanished without fighting. The group explored the floor before going up to the roof. The man was there, standing on a rock a few meters away from the tower's roof. The man turned into a grey dragon a made it clear that soon he would be back and destroy everything and everyone on his path. Out of all the rambling, the only things that made sense were that perhaps the man was in fact a dragon who may have lived in caves that the men turned into a mine. If this the case, the people, men an dwarves would have destroyed his lair and whatever he treasured.

Pius had a short vision of a cave with a pile of gold, a few shiny items, a body of clear water and somewhere safe a few dragon eggs.

Just a reminder that we're taking a week off and will confront the dragon on May 14.

The raid on the sorcerer's tower had been a major disappointment to Slade. The place was virtually empty of loot and the information they gathered, or deduced, from the encounter with a probable dragon wasn't encouraging. The resulting meeting with the local council only further confirmed the group's suspicions. The men had violated the lair of a silver dragon and ignored various attempts to be dissuaded. They had at least partially looted it and destroyed or damaged who knows what else along the way. Now, the dragon was going to take it's revenge and the party was being asked to save these bumblers. Slade wondered how much the dragon might pay for the heads of the local council?
