Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

Shanni looks down at the body of Pius as she knelt at his side. "No, you don't get it Ama," she responded. "I can't sense her. No one can expect to have my Lady at their beck and call, it's not in her nature, but here I can't tell whether she is here or not." She shook her head. "It's like something is preventing connection to her blessings fully and I'm drawing more on my own hope than her favour".
"I don't even know if he does not come because he doesn't wish it or because his patron does not wish it or because something is standing in the way." The young cleric looked up, her eyes tear-filled. "All I hope is that he has found his own way to where he wants to be and is not simply wandering here alone"
((Health warning on my attendance. One of those previously mentioned occasions where I'm out and will be racing back in hope of making it on time. I'll put the server up tonight just in case I don't, and that will hopefully help Mirg get his character created early.

Nihmri poked Pius' corpse with her foot, scowling. "Stupid," she muttered. "Stupid, stupid, stupid."
With something like a growl, she cradled her head in her hands and turned to glare at nothing in particular. "I should have realized. The rules are different here. I don't know how much, exactly, but I don't think the gods have eyes in this place. We are very far from home."

((I have not got the PM, or at least cannot see it on my phone, and am now not in the house until just before game at best. Possibly after it starts. Don't rely on the bic file reaching me. Better to level on server.))

Mirgalen, you will probably want to log in as Pius first so you can unload all of your gear in the OOC room. The party has custody of his body and possessions.
I have two places where your new character can join, one near the start of the session and one about halfway through, so we can accommodate build time if necessary.

A kobold seer, sage, sorcerer, whatever. Toric had seemed many things in his adventures, but this was a first. He could only hope it would help them find this demon prince, or whatever it was, for a reasonable fee. He didn't relish the idea of descending into the lower planes, but if it was the only way to stop the undead from being created, he would do it. He just hoped the others were prepared and this "demon hunter" they picked up didn't try to take on the hordes by himself.

Althor Bowman (part 1)
Son of half-elf couple one of them being in fact half drow, Althor was already an odd one at birth. It is said that his mother was some kind of witch from whom he inherited his magical powers. Althor did not remember much of his past except that he came of age as a follower of Corellon protecting the forest until he left looking for adventure.
Over the years he ventured into odd places becoming an unwilling planeshifter. It is said that he visited the Dreamworld more than once, the first layer of the Abyss, Acheron, the pleasant Arborea, the battlefield plane of Ysgard, the deadly Pandemonium and the Shadow plane. Eventually, he ended up in Sigil.

After sweeping the locksmiths house the party ventured thru a door portal and found themselves in another part of the locksmith's house, but probably on another plane. They found a few useful things, including a bow and some arrows. Slade passed on the bow as his was more powerful but helped himself to some arrows. A few more guardians and traps were dealt with before the area was secured. They came across a half elf imprisoned in the area and freed him. He claimed to be a talented archer and scout, so the party gave him a few items and returned the bow he claimed was his. He tagged along and it seemed as if he was going to be a new addition, though Slade wasn't particularly sure they needed his services.
Backtracking to Sigil, the party sought out a temple to restock their healing supplies and finally dispose of Pious' body. His possessions were sorted thru and what wasn't claimed was sold to raise funds for more supplies. Slade picked up a potion or two and long sword, though he passed that on to Shanni who was more likely to actually use it.
Next, they ventured through another door and ended up in an ice world. Scouting around, Slade found a fortress and the group ventured in. Frost giants were guarding the place and had to be disposed of as they didn't seem open to negotiations. They turned out to be employed by a kobald sage, of all things, who seemed a lot more open to discussion than his guards had been, though Slade privately wondered if that was only 'cause the party had slaughtered them all so efficiently. He wandered to the edge of the chamber to keep an eye out for possible unfriendly reinforcements while the others dickered with the kobald.

Shanni wasn't cold, the ring she had saw to that, at least while they were out of the wind, but the place felt chilly with the expanses of stone and rime you could see on the windows. There was nothing cozy or comforting about the place, on top of which there were any number of other reasons to be wary.
They'd fought their way through a number of guards of one species or another but there was nothing to say there weren't more. There was also the matter of the nature of the guards, as if the kobold could command frost giants and creatures of a similar power he was not going to be either an idiot or without power of some kind. His affability could be a matter of expediency but if that was the case the need for it could switch.
"So..." Shanni began, "you say you can help us find what we need. We're keen to learn how, and the price you're naturally going to ask? I imagine it's going to be something we're not going to like much."
Yes, being wary was key as she thought to herself as she sat sipping what turned out to be a passable cup of cocoa. The cocoa itself could be poisoned, but she'd taken precautions against that as dammit all - you don't turn chocolate down without good reason.
