Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

As Slade scouted around the fortress, he was not happy, the place was big and empty - no treasure to be found. Then he got careless and triggered a door trap in his haste to find something, anything. Worst yet, instead of pausing to double-check he tried to open the door yet again and got splattered with more acid for his troubles. When he came to the party was gathered around him with angry looks on their faces. He couldn't really blame them he had been really foolish. He swore, yet again, to be more careful in the future, but he wondered if that was really possible?

"It's a real shame, isn't it?" Nihmri said, wistfully. "All this power, and what do they do with it? I mean, what would you create if you could make your dreams real?"
She paused and sighed, as though pondering this question herself.
"I think I'd start with a seaside villa," she said. "With baths. Big, marble baths. Oh! And servants. Lots of servants. Pretty ones. You guys could come visit!"

"I .." Shanni began and paused a moment. "I was going to go for something altruistic there but .... I can't really find fault with your reasoning." She paused again, grinning slightly. "I might throw a few more embellishments into there, I'm quite good at those when I set my mind to it, but no. I think that's a pretty fair representation of what we'd all want if we're honest. Okay, we could have a hospital for the needy around the back but I don't think the Ladies have ever been about helping those who won't even try to help themselves."
"No," she added after a further pause, "the only complication I can spot is in not putting yourself out there enough once you'd imagined it all into being. It's quite possible in a place where you can believe things into existence you can probably undo them by not really believing in their worth any more, and I could see that happening if the contrast disappeared."
"Perhaps we are doomed," she added with a highly theatrical sigh, then grinned. "We'll tread the path to value the the things we don't have, until we have them and then don't." She paused. "Or do." She paused again. "I think."

There's surprisingly no reply from Suula, either from Nim's postulate or Shanni's answer. On closer inspection, she seems to be staring off into the distance of one of the corridors; brows knitted, tongue almost sticking out of her mouth as she screws up her face in intense thought. Emotions seem to play across her features - puzzlement, amusement, consternation, uncertainty, resignation...
Then a sudden noise in the distance startles her, and she flinches, almost snapping up into a full-on defensive posture. A few moments pass with no sign of any danger, and so she flicks a look around to see if anyone noticed her twitchiness, before falling into muttering.

"You would have thought that if they could exist in a realm where they could have anything they wanted with a mere thought that might be enough power to content them. Of course some have ambitions that override even the most basic self awareness. Most of the idiots who want to "rule the world" or a given portion thereof would be utterly unhappy if they ever actually achieved their goal."

((As an aside, it's been brought to my attention that DST starts up in the US on Sunday. So we need the usual discussion .... ))
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
+2700xp for full-party posting.
On the time shift, our usual practice has been to pin the start time to US DST, as we have not been able to come to consensus on an alternative. Given that Europe also uses DST but on a slightly different schedule (2 weeks later in this case), typically the inconvenience is temporary.
The only one who is significantly affected is karvon, who lives in a place that does not have DST, but my understanding is that the spring shift actually works to his benefit.
As always, I will defer if a consensus can be reached on changing our schedule. The game starts at 7:30 a.m. local time for me but I could accommodate an hour each way. So I would suggest that if anyone has a significant issue please post here and we can discuss.
Also a reminder that I will be unavailable on April 1, so no session that day.

// Really sorry folks, something came up kinda last minute so I wont be able to make it tomorrow.
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
That's two out but we should be able to manage with five this week unless someone else has an issue tomorrow. It looks like Amathain and Toric will be lost in the Dream for a while...

((Shit .... I'm tank. That's going to end well. Server is up in anticipation of TPK. Same connection details.))
