Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

((Almost certain not to make it, unless a miracle happens, but server is up ready. Usual details.))
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
Only two players showed up, so I postponed the game until next week. Figure we had a time difference snafu.
Hopefully we'll all be on the same page, temporally speaking, for next week.

Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
Indeed; I'd looked over the forum postings this week as I was wondering if DST was kicking in, but didn't see any comments or reminders, so thought we weren't switching over yet
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
Balls. Yes that's what happened, we all showed up at the usual time and wondered what was going on.
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
There were a few posts about DST two pages back but I guess you missed it. Smart Alec and Vanya Mia both were on (US) time last week when we only had 4 of 7.
But the time shift seems to just be one of those perennial issues for us so hopefully we can get it all together for next session.

Yes. Yes you do.
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
On Combats.
Althor almost regretted the time when he was venturing alone or with one or two partners.
If he had to fight, most of the time he could engage the enemies in melee with a large weapon or stay back and shoot at will. If that was the case, an enemy could be hit by a dozen arrows before falling.
When the enemy, perhaps the strongest opponent of an adventure or a mission seemed to be immune to weapons and magical damages, Althor could use acid or fire bombs to take down that specific creature.
It was so different now with this group of friends. It seemed that most arrows fired were bouncing off or breaking without doing any damage and most of the others were often unable to hit the opponents. If a creature had to be hit 10 times before going down, probably Amathain was the one down most of the work with perhaps 6-7 hits, Toric would probably hit the thing once or twice and all the others will once collectively. Of course, if the creature was not immune to spells, a spell or two could help. But as it appeared, magic was more effective when used to protect or enhance the team members. Things like barkskin, stoneskin, flame weapon, enchant weapon seemed to work quite well.
Althor tried his explosive arrows against some creatures but they were doing so little that he ended up using them to break doors.
So was the life of an adventuring archer...

I rarely created MP encounters in NWN and I do not have any reference on hand so the above are Althor's opinions of what may represent what LB is doing being the DM screen when designing encounters or not.

"More basic than that even," Suula said airily, waving her arms in wide circles. "Everything that thinks wants to feel powerful. If you make your will happen - you feel satisfied. Even whiny losers and preachy temple mice live like that, they just use their power to make other people feel wretched. It's not about being happy, or your pride, or wanting to live and be, or that you can run the world better, no. It just all comes down to everything living and thinking wanting to feel strong. We all have it. Strongest feeling we've got."
"Maybe it's just something in our heads, the way we are, or are meant to be," she tilts her head, musing as she gathers herself to move on, finishing tending to the last scrapes. "Maybe it's a natural law underneath all the 'real' things that pushes us on. But we all bump about, and most-times we have to kick others over if they get in our way. But sometimes, we find people who help us feel strong, and who we feel stronger for helping in turn. Like with this Circle. Like with us. We're not all that different to them. Just different ways... of working our will."

((Dear god, I swear I was watching the server for log-ins and I still muked it up.
Sorry everyone.))
