Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

// OK so plans changed on me at the last minute and I'm back in again, yay!
"That is an interesting perspective; that we might be representing the gods, and be acting as champions of the right order of things. It would certainly fit with the theology of Torm," Amathain said, and then continued, somewhat more sombrely; "He himself gave his life above Tantras, stopping Bane from overturning the natural order."

Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
At dawn, the group entered the undead area in search of the evil source that would most likely be responsible for the unrest. A few undead and some magical traps did not slow them down that much. Down a hill was an area with two crypts, a singular pillar, probably evil and a circle of bones. As they got closer skeletons started to emerge in successive waves. Destroying the pillar proved to be the only way to stop the waves.
Soon they entered one crypt and slowly explored it destroying all kinds of undead along the way. On the lowest level they found the "Master" who claimed that he was about to revive Orcus. Althor did not see him. The others dispatched him and his minion so quickly that he felt like he missed a good fight. He only used half a bundle of arrows in the crypt and surrounding area.
As they came out, someone shouted for help. It was an elf ranger who could not stop talking. He guided them to the desert proper. They missed the city but the journey turned out to be safe, almost boring.
Althor was now what could be called an elite archer, better on average than most rangers and as good if not better than assassins and thieves.
Unless he could find a way to make and enchant his own bow he would have to seek the legendary north wind bow assuming such item was not just a legend.

The mission on behalf of the elves to deal with an undead outbreak was rather routine. A few outer traps plus regenerating waves of undead were dealt with rather easily before venturing down into a crypt. A few more challenging undead and traps awaited in the halls and chambers below, but these too were not overly difficult for the team to clear. Finally, the vamperic necromancer was found, and though he did put a fair fight, he really wasn't any match for the combined strength of the paladin and priests of the party. Slade's arrows proved useful in dispatching some of the skeletal archers, whom he easily outshot. He lent his support in the various melees at a safe distance and came thru with a few minor wounds that his potions fixed easily enough. Some loot was recovered, but nothing which was of really any use to him at the moment; the gold coming from the sales of such might prove handy down the road though.

Toric lay sweating on the cot provided by the chieftain. "I swear. I 'ope we ain't long fer this desert, otherwise I'll be half the dwarf I am now. 'ow ye 'umans can live like this I'll never know." He stripped off his armor and lay a light sheet over him. "I ain't goin' nowhere 'till nightfall. Y'all want to live 'fore then, don't 'pect me ta come runnin' ta save yer bacon or anythin'." He snorted and turned over, falling fast asleep.

// I've always kind of assumed having fire resistance would negate (at least some of) the discomfort of hot environments? If you can ignore being burnt to a crisp you can probably ignore too much sunshine right? I don't know if there's actually any official ruling on that though heh.
So, a forgotten city in a sea of sand and a well that grants wishes? Sounds rather like the start of a novel. I expect we will need plenty of elemental resistance out in the heat. Also perhaps some means of carrying water with us.

"We're not exactly used to this either, Toric... oh." Suula sighed and rolled her eyes at the sleeping dwarf, sweating and trying to contend with running white hair dye. She rubs her neck and face with a damp towel, sitting in as minimalist a robe as she has. "Figures... uh, yeah. Carrying water sounds great. Do they have any horses out here? Even carrying this bag of holding is... starting to get wearying."

Even bathed and dressed casually Shanni looks a little uncomfortable in a fashion that seemed to have little to do with the heat and seemed disinterested by the potential discomfort of the environment or the concept of essential preparations. Instead spending her time playing with a necklace she usually wore until eventually interrupting the flow of discussions with a question.
"How do you think this idea of a wish granting works?" she asked. "I mean, is it the chance to get one granted because you've ventured long and hard through dangerous country, risking life and limb to find the place?" She frowned. "I'd heard of wish granting as a concept naturally, but never thought it was real. There as that story of some kind in Amn who had a genie held prisoner, in some kind of fire box or whatever, which granted them but I always thought that daft as he'd done nothing to deserve it." She looked around puzzled.
"It wouldn't be fair for someone to be that lucky and not having worked for it, would it? Eh? Would it? Not fair at all."

"A wish is more than just a boon," Nihmri said, resting in the shade. "It's more - far more - than just a bit of magic. A wish has the power to change all of the rules. It can alter what is true and what is false. Lies become truth, and what is true becomes false."
She smiled a dangerous smile.
"Who can say how such power has shaped the world in the past? There would be no way for us to know the shape of the world that came before."
