Hot and Cold.

The desert was very hot in the day and very cold at night. If the former was to be expected, the latter was not and came as a surprise. The desert was not as deserted either. There was plenty of life, giant snakes, crabs and scorpions, "sand sharks", minotaurs, half-men with insects legs similar to driders.

While searching for the staff, the group met a Shadovar prince with is mage and a few guards. The devoted had previously killed a few of them but luckily a fight was avoided and they proceeded deeper into the ruins. The place was well guarded by creatures of darkness able to sneak behind them, attack with draining energy. Althor got seriously injured at some point. He was able to continue thanks to powerful healing magic some of them were now able to use.

They collected a few items to sell. The only thing of interest was probably an amulet protecting from draining attacks...

// Available in June as usual FYI.

Slade had never liked deserts; life in the desert was harsh and almost everything was deadly from the thorny cactus to the poisonous snakes and spiders. They ran into all these and more as the searched for the ruins. Most of the wildlife was hacked down without any major losses and the party surprisingly skirted a pack of landshark lizards drinking at a pool on their way. While they didn't run into any Zenth, they did find other shadow warriors in the ruins who proved to be hostile. Most of these were dispatched without too much trouble, as were some of the undead spirits haunting the place. They then encountered more shadow warriors who made a deal, allowing the party to loot the place, essentially, in exchange for opening a portal they could not do themselves. In the process, more loot was acquired, but nothing Slade saw interested him much.

Based on our discussion at the end of the last session: no session June 3. Next game will be June 10.

June 24 I will be out of town, so no session that week.

Topato is out July 1.

I'll be on vacation for two weeks in October (will only miss 1 game, Oct 7).

If you have summer vacation plans or other absences you know of in advance, post them here.

I anticipate that we'll finish the Devotion campaign this summer and begin The Dragon's Village this fall. Thanks to all for keeping our awesome gaming streak going!

((As mentioned in game I'm out in August, probably for three weekends now as we have something on the weekend before we leave on holiday too. The 12th, 19th and 26th. I should be able to get the server up for all of them provided nothing goes awry with port forwarding while I'm away.

And what a fun streak it is! I make it nearly 9 years since I joined on Saturday and I know Karv was in it before I was.))

//Indeed. I think my first campaign was in 2008 with Olaf Svensen, an illiterate viking warrior :) I have a saved text file of saved player postings for a fair part of that campaign which runs about 100 odd pages. That was back before I logged all sessions, though I may have started logging during that campaign as well. I'll have to check my older computer and archive HD and see if I still have those files stored.

((Don't think it could have been going long before I joined in then, as my first is October 2008. I have the log of every session I have played or DMed, except the odd few where I failed to remember and overwrote, since I found out how to do it. My earliest is over 12 years ago! I used to write them up into stories but sadly don't find time now.))

Yeah I haven't been keeping logs lately but I have almost a thousand of them dating from 2003-2015. I turned the logs from one of our X-COM campaigns into a story and posted it on ENWorld.

Just a reminder: no session this week.

"So are we done 'ere? Don't much like tombs, 'pescially ones with shadow princes or what-not in 'em. Ain't really looking forward ta fightin' 'em either." Toric fidgeted as looked around, his dark vision ruined by the others' lights. "Sure wish I could see in 'ere..."

Hopefully we can avoid coming into conflict with the shadovar at all. We should be able to get what we came for and get out of here.

//may be late or a no-show on Sat, plans seem to be up in the air. Don't wait for me!
